  1. Looks like Scott is a casualty of the Jagger garbage. Having him around might remind us that maybe Jagger wasn't this super evil dude who deserved to be murdered by Sonny point blank, in cold blood. I guess Scott and Ric are kind of redundant, and I understand going with Ric now for all the sleazy lawyer shenanigans, but I do hope they find a place for Scott, as well as for Lucy. I think a Scott/ Tracy/ Lucy triangle played straight, instead of as a joke, could be interesting. Interesting how Mulcahey was very weak when it came to some of the vets. His Lucy was horrendous, his Lois a non factor, the same with Robert and Scott, his Felicia wasn't even on. I guess there were so many characters on the show, he didn't have the time to try and fix the more marginal ones.
  2. Interesting how all of Wayne's attempts to play a bad guy, on Dynasty, Port Charles, Days 2005, weren't successful. Perhaps it all had to do with the writing each time? Wayne's greatest success was playing Roman in the 80s, a good guy. Perhaps behind his popularity in the 80s was the character's working class background? Interesting how in the 90s, Roman's working class background was used to turn him into an unforgiving, intolerant jerk. I wonder how much of the poor writing Wayne got during his second stint from 91-94 was due to grudges behind the scenes. They only rehired him because Deidre insisted. Wayne only signed a 6 month contract, and when it was up, he played hard ball with the producers, forcing them to embarrassingly write out Roman again right after he returned from a 7 year hiatus. Wayne finally agreed to a new contract, but it seemed like the producers also had to hire his wife. Perhaps the producers didn't forget this, and had the writers destroy his character by the time he left in 1994? It's interesting how all the characters Reilly hated were portrayed by actors who gave the producers, and him, a hard time: Roman, Jack, Tony, Victor.
  3. In the scene, Matt and Maggie are talking about Theodora. The patient seems to be Theodora's housekeeper or something, and Theodora has treated her really badly. It's interesting that they have Bethel Leslie sporting Ann Williams's hairdo. When Lydia Bruce takes over for Bethel Leslie in 1968, they have Lydia sport Bethel's hairdo for a few months too. I guess they thought that would make the transition easier, if the recast had the previous actor's hair style?!
  4. I visited the Paley Center, and they have a 5 minute segment of an episode from 1966. Matt and Maggie were in some of the scenes talking with a patient. Also some of the same music cues from 1968 are heard. I really wish Retro would release whatever episodes exist from the early years, especially from 1966 and 1967!!
  5. New Lulu is definitely a marked improvement over the last one! This Lulu can act and is able to enter into the spirit of the character. Hopefully the writers don't let her and us down.. The worst thing about Lulu's return is that we have to see characters like Valentine and Charlotte again.. Strange how in the flashback between Lulu and Maxie today, which was supposed to take place just before Lulu fell into a coma, new Lulu was a complete brunette!!
  6. Can't believe it took 38 years for Liz Chandler to return! Even longer for Julie's brother! Outside of certain characters, writers and producers really have had little use for the history of the show, especially from the 70s and 80s.
  7. I thought the TJ actor was a little over the top; the director should have reigned him in a little bit. Also thought Dante was a little too cold and non responsive when he first saw Lulu, but he got better as the scenes went on.
  8. The use of Laura lately has been disappointing. Despite the return of her kids, she's become pretty much a non-entity. We saw more of her when she was debating Heather's issues. She went to Africa to search for her son, but her time there was never shown on-screen. She returned just to hang around the hospital and the chapel and emote. Her daughter has successful surgery and is moved to a new facility and Laura is no where to be seen. She also wasn't at the funeral of the woman who saved her daughter's life. Is Laura still on the show at this point? It looks like the writers aren't going to give her anything deep or memorable to do. She was also pretty much in the background when Heather's story wrapped. Again, all disappointing.
  9. They should use it to stream old episodes from the 90s or before, but that's probably too much of a pipe dream.
  10. Perhaps the current writing is also figuring into his decision. His character is coming off as such a wuss. His wife cheats on him and all he could do is sulk, pout and whine. Michael should be taking punches at Drew, not Jason. His character has never been cast well nor had good writing. Like Monaco, he has been pretty much sleep walking for over a decade. It's long past due for him to leave. It seems like it takes GH at least 10 years to figure out whether an actor/ character is dead wood or not..
  11. Why did they have Luke rape Laura? Was it just a genre convention; that's how strong men dealt with strong women in these stories? On The Doctors, Steve raped Karen in 1968. On Days of our Lives, Bill raped Laura. Does it go back to Gone with the Wind, with strong Rhett Butler "taking" headstrong Scarlett O'Hara against her will?
  12. Without nuance, the characters are either all ruined, or just cardboard cutouts. It seems like Mulcahey was the only writer working there that got that. They really need to hire a new writer who can do strong character work; that weakness is so glaring. The new writers have tried character stuff with Lucky and Sam's goodbye tour, but it all felt so hollow, boring, and paint by the numbers, with no fun, no life, no quirkiness.
  13. Frank and the current writers just cannot write character. It's just plot, plot, and more plot. The actions of most of the characters don't make sense, since the writers never take the time to flesh out their motivations, intentions, emotions. Mulcahey was a master at this, and sadly none of his genius for character work has rubbed off on the new writers.
  14. I'm surprised that they gave Robert a happy ending. I was expecting them to do 2022 again, with Holly leaving town and then Robert going back to appearing once every 4 months or so. That they took the effort, and the writers didn't screw it up with any stupid twists, is really appreciated. What is screwed up is making Sasha their daughter. Their daughter should be a charismatic, fun, new character who could shake up the town, and whose name they can say, not "Sasher."
  15. The show is doing a nice thing by having Tristan appear. I'm sure he really wants to do it. I hope they realize that they can have Tristan appear and still give his character a happy ending with Holly. I hate for them to keep using Emma's short stints as a reason not to do Holly and Robert. They can be together off screen. They have a bunch of stories playing out off screen anyway, so why not add a happy one! And again, if one of them wants to appear, show them; the other can be in the other room or something!
  16. That the show is still teasing Jason and Anna shows what a dead end corner both characters are in right now. If I were a new viewer, I'd probably think Anna and Jason were the same age. I'd have no idea that they were both on the show in 1991, he as a teen, she as the female lead, and that the actors are in fact 11 years apart in age 🤯 Steve hasn't aged well..
  17. I think Lucky/ Aiden is a dud. There's no father/son chemistry between the two. Aiden looks too old. JJ, in his performance, seems like he couldn't care less about Aiden; he doesn't come alive the way he does with Becky, Genie, or even with the new character Isaiah. Maybe they should make it that Lucky found out Aiden really wasn't his son, it pissed him off, and that's one of the reasons he's been away for so long?
  18. It's funny how the returns of B-characters like Ric and Lucas have been more successful than the return of A-characters like Jason and Lucky. I didn't think I'd see a return as bad as Jason's, but I think Lucky's does take the cake. We waited weeks for him to get back to town, only to see him back-burned when we does. I wonder if there is any behind the scenes stuff going on of Jonathan not liking the scripts and storylines.
  19. You'd think Holly would have given her daughter a name that she could correctly pronounce 🤣 Wow, what happened to Lucky's return? Is he still on the show at this point?
  20. Those Sasher and Willow scenes were so lackluster. The set has more charisma than those two. It feels like no one is really invested in this double affairs story. No doubt pregnancies will be up next, and who cares 🙄 It's not like the fallout will be well acted or pack any emotional punch.
  21. If they had stayed with Joe and Kelly, they probably would have made Joe a cop. He was the lead action adventure guy while Dane was in the role. Cruz became what Joe would have been. Same with Kelly and Eden; Eden became what Kelly would have been had they stuck to the original plan and actors.
  22. Why don't they just put DAYS back on NBC? NBC isn't really broadcasting anything in the daytime, and the show still conforms to broadcast standards.
  23. I was wondering, what is behind them not trying to do a little more of an adult show, is it DAYS or Peacock or both? There doesn't seem to be much nudity or cursing on any of the shows on Peacock, or at least I'm not aware of any. Is that why DAYS doesn't go there, Peacock doesn't allow that for their shows in general?
  24. The show gave more attention to the wedding of Kelly and Joe then I thought they would, considering he gets killed off 3 weeks later. I thought they would do a small, quick, civil ceremony. Instead, the entire cast shows up to a church nicely dressed, and special guest, and CC's friend, Jeffrey Osborne comes and lip-synchs some tunes. I thought the Cruz and Eden dance to one of his tunes at the reception in the Capwell mansion looks like what you'd see today from couples on Dancing with the Stars who get immediately voted off 😂
  25. I was wondering if anyone could shed light on Rod Arrants's run in 1985. He was just coming off of Search for Tomorrow. Was it always intended to be short term and for him to be a bad guy? He killed long term character Danny Grant and Abe's brother. He always romanced and slept with Marlena; I wonder if Marlena ever told John or Roman about that 😂
