  1. He was a doctor at memorial who was murdering patients. Bob was accused and son Chris took over as chief of staff making it look like an ambitious Chris was framing his dad. Chris was portrayed as real shady at this time.
  2. Gina was one of my favorites on TGL as Dinah and she's a powerhouse but I feel as Phyllis she was a miscast. She just didn't feel like Phyllis at all. She lacked the sexuality and sinister aura of the character.
  3. Always found the increasingly aging cast quite ironic, given the shows title.
  4. Gina was good on the show but a terrible Phyllis. Would've been better as Victoria or someone else. JT is another one who isn't necessarily bad bit he's not a great fit for Billy.
  5. I need to vent. This time of year I get sad thinking of this show that I grew up with. My mom would have it on when I came home from school. It grew on me as time went by. My mom would explain who was related to who and this fascinated me greatly and core families lasting generations are my favorite aspects of soaps in general. I wouldget excited during long credit days and the cast list and the "full" closing music. Oh, why couldn't GL get more respect in the late 80s and 90s? Seemed like Santa Barbara was getting more buzz (pun?) than GL. Everything seemed to be clicking in 1984. The revamping seemed to work although I would've kept more of a "core" or "foundation" to the show connecting it more with pre-1984 GL. I'd hear about past characters or characters I was too young to remember like Mike. The earliest stuff I remember was quint and Nora's exploits. Mom would refer to her movie fantasies. Quint/Nola and Another World's Cass/Kathleen were favorite couples of mine. They had a good thing going with the Reardons. Tony, Jim, Annabelle were all written out too soon. During the 90s GL was decent in bringing people back but it would've been interesting to see Tony or Jim return. Especially Tony who was with the show for a decent amount of time (5 years?). Reva was okay but they should've built her family up better, like give her another brother or sister (in the 80s). Especially with The Reardons and Bauers being de-emphasized. India was another memorable character I remember when I was young along with the Musketeers and lujack. It's a shame they didn't have VI on a longer contract. Lujack and Beth sparked the ratings during 84 where it was beating general hospital for four weeks as "Almost Paradise" played as they rode that motorcycle along the beach. They should've brought back Lujack somehow, Nick was a bore. The Beth recast was bad. BC's Beth was better when she returned in '97(?). We were supposed to root against her in favor as Harley? I couldn't do that after seeing their romance in the 80s. They were soulmates. Actually Lujack could've also been her soul mate but he died. India was another memorable character, thought she was good with Ross. This was during a period where I thought bloss was stale but blake/Ross were absolutely my second favorite gl couple. I was devastated when jvd/ross left the show after 25 or 26 years as he quickly became the shows elder statesman after only being on the show four or five years. GL really gutted too much of the cast during the early 80s. Loved the Anabelle story, one of my favorite umbrella stories which linked all the families together. I know their was continuity issues, but I sppreviated. Nola and Tony learning that their father didn't abandon them but met another fate. Hot take: the 1989 Alan Spaulding recast was a decent recast. I could see him as Alan and he still gave off some of the gravitas that CB had. Ron Raines was a joke. MD as Alex started off okay but really went off the rails as time went by, especially after Alan returned from prison. They should've given Rick Bauer children sooner. Him and Abigail were together for a decent amount of time, they should've had a child together.
  6. The thing about y&r and its not necessarily a bad thing is with their cast stability there isn't a whole lot of fan favorites to bring back.. Dru, a return visit by Jill. 50th anniversary would be a good opportunity to reintroduce either the brooks or foster families If they choose to.
  7. That would've been a good idea as it would've increased the presence.of the Bauers which was reduced to just Rick by the mid-00s. Although I think Alan would've been a little more plausible.
  8. For y&r, I'd like to see SOMETHING happen. Maybe a character die in a car accident, bring back some popular actors and recast some past characters like Andy, Steve or any grown children/grandchildren from any of the Foster boys.
  9. Sonny and Solita were twins, the writer strike then happened with the scabs having Solita's remains exhumed. When Long returned she had to make sense of the mess as her original story was altered.
  10. Y&R should bring on some more of Snapper and Chris's kids or grandkids. Greg Snapper could've had grown kids or grandkids by now. If Paul appears more, you could give him nephews or nieces via brother Steven or half siblings via father Jim Bradley aka Carl Williams and his wife. Plus why are there so many next generation characters just collecting dust? Fen could be a spoiler to Summer/Kyle for one example. Reed should be active on canvas and they definitely should actually use Faith and Moses. For General Hospital there's lots of options like Tommy Hardy. For Days. Tommy Horton could've remarried and have grown kids out there, since he hasn't been on canvas in like 40 years. For Bold, there's no reason why RJ, the one child of Brooke and Ridge should not be driving major story. It's practically a crime. Have him get I to a rivalry with half brother/cousin Jack. Lots of missed opportunities out there to build on legacy instead of creating one rando character after another.
  11. No to both. Higley had like six boring runs. Jamey is at least a passionate fan, and he loved Another World so I have to give that to him. Loved his podcast, they had some good insight and often his ideas were more exciting and history based than what was on the screen. Is Richard Culliton still alive? I would pair him with a newer writer. A fresh perspective. Maybe Culliton and Giddens or Culliton and some other promoted writer. Sorry but stodgy 60s melodrama is not going to win fans over, you need flash and excitement. That's what made 80s and 90s soaps so memorable and infectious.
  12. It's good shorthand for doing a quick post. I'm lobbying for BJ (Belle + EJ) myself.
  13. Respectfully agree to disagree. Y&R could use him, nothing remotely interesting happens on that show since JG returned
  14. I'd be shocked if Y&R got a new HW, seems like JG is going nowhere anytime soon. His Y&R might as well be sponsored by Unisom. We need a "Stefano" "James Stenbeck" "Carl Hutchins" or "Roger Thorpe" villain. One that could wreak terror long term and drive story.
  15. No it's not. Y&R is very grounded but also very boring in recent years. Bring on adventure and an attempt at excitement!
  16. Y&R used to constantly have this annoying phone ring... doo-day-do. As a child this espescially irritated me.
  17. That's hilarious. On one hand it would've kept him from returning to GL and hamming it up as Rick. On the other hand without MOL available I know Rick would have gone the way of Mike and Hope Bauer. No recast or return.
  18. I think people have a problem with the character Ben and not necessarily the actor. That said, there's other actors out there. And with that said, look at Bonnie/Adrienne or Josh Taylor's two different roles on the show.
  19. Warren Burton could've been a Mike recast. Sonia Sattra could've been Stacy Chamberlain.
  20. Agree with the above. Dinah and Jonathan were breaths of fresh air. Sure they chewed some scenery but their often passionate performances gave the show sparks of life during the last years. While I was indifferent towards Otalia, CC turned in solid work and made it click with viewers. I was so excited when Phillip returned and I thought his return was actually written well. Plus Phillip chucked Grady off a cliff (IIRC?) which I'm sure was also a bright spot for many of us GL fans. They also humanized Edward somewhat giving him a dead daughter and IIRC a grandchild that Marina adopted. AW's final half year had some seeds for potential. Felicia in a quirky storyline with new Beau Sergei which would've fit well in 80s AW. Cass in a front-burner storyline with Lover Lila and her ex/baby daddy Matthew. The Lumina ball was intriguing but that Jordan stark plot was weird, but would've also probably fit in 80s AW. Carl's return with his intentions questioned, whether he was reformed or went back to his villainous 80s ways. I recall Josie and Gary being the show's last supercouple-esque pairing. Paulina's newly found daughter Remy should've later been paired with a SORAS'd Steven Frame.
