  1. @alwaysAMC unfortunately the Sonni/Solita story became a mess under the scab writers-- Long had to change the whole back end of the plot. I don't know how much is in the vault, but I know the Sonni/Solita stuff is pretty sparse on YT.
  2. NBC's saturday 8pm hour fell apart with Facts of Life gone, they should've picked up the FoL spinoff/continuation show with Blair running the now inter-gendered academy. NBC had a strong second comedy night there for a few years.
  3. My favorite Reva storyline post-Annie was when Jonathan came to town. It was such karmic goodness, Reva's mini me. His diabolical plan to tear her family up. I have sympathy for GL viewers having to deal with two Revas with TP and KZ having the same over-the-top acting styles. I find that style very classic soap camp, but I get that some prefer more subtle performances.
  4. It was kinda unusual for the time, for both Josh and Blake to have multiple children with only one partner. Given how many Reva kids popped out of the woodwork must've been great restraint to not give Josh kids where he had plenty of opportunities... knocking up Morgan on her way out of town, 84-86 in Venuzuela and 91-93 in Italy.
  5. @alwaysAMC its also pretty cool that MKA is a direct desendent of our 2nd US President- John Adams. I hated how they wrote her off of ATWT with no chance of returning. She was such a good fit with Lucinda as her sister. I recently saw her cameo on an old OLTL as Death-- that was a pleasant surprise.
  6. I never really warmed up to BC's Beth. The Beth I grew up was victimized but she had an inner strength to her despite all the perils. 90s Beth is more of a vixen but more emotionally fragile-- which gets exponentially worse/toxic when she hooks up with Prince Edmund.
  7. Anihillater was an unsold pilot, it was a mix of The Terminator and Invasion of the Body Snatchers as humans are replaced by terminator type robots.
  8. Absolutely. Rauch heralded the move in the soap press as it was one of the last moves he did as EP, along with commissioning the "50 Years on Television" intro. It felt very forced and there was little thought put into the characters. At the same time, sister soap ATWT was giving Y&R a run for its money with its prominent black scene: Jessica, Ben, Issac, Bonnie, Camille...
  9. GL could've expanded the Grant family by making the Bordreauxs cousins as opposed to a completely new family. Remy was basically a David recast-- iirc he became a cop and essentially had the same vibe that post-Monti Sharp David had.
  10. I used to live for the comings and goings sections-- it was always so exciting back in the day.
  11. Unfortunately Victor hanging on is the least of the shows problems. Underdeveloping and discarding young adult legacy characters has been the big problem since Bell passed. They should placed more effort into the younger generations and phase out the old guard very gradually. Nick is kinda a dude of a character when he should be your strong middle-age legacy family anchor. The ratings are solid so tptb won't make the changes but what's going to happen when the older actors start to pass? The whole house of cards comes down.
  12. Who's hating? That tone seemed unecessary, ppl pointing out what they don't like about this show shouldn't be any different than the criticism for the other shows. The show isn't hitting the notes for me but I still watch from time to time. We need this show to be successful-- the whole genre is depending on it. The show should be always looking for ways it can improve
  13. Unfortunate, tptb will continue to coast now that they have two seasons ahead of them. NBC made the Dobsons make adjustments on Santa Barbara 5-6 months in. The show needs sweeping romance and an occasional mystery or action storyline, maybe a set of quirky/humor characters. Sure the ratings are fine but they shouldn't rest on their laurels.
  14. Which of the five soaps currently on, would you say was closest in tone to GL (if any)? Maybe GH, since GL was always chasing trends and Days did to but they were more over-the-top than GH who created the formula. The Bell soaps always seemed like the antithesis to the P&G soaps, BTG is closer to feel to a Bell soap than the other two.
  15. Its a shame about GL on YT. For years I was always glad to see that GL was one of the more represented soaps on YT. Thanks to takedowns, GL is easily surpassed by ATWT, OLTL and the 1987-91 SoapNet repeats of AW.
  16. Speaking of redemption arc, I remember ppl not buying Josh's later career as a pastor.
  17. I'm glad we got her at GL-- her and Monti Sharp together with Curlee & Company writing... chef's kiss!
  18. My folks never liked Mallet, or "Adrian" as they'd call him. 😆 Adrian was a Y&R villain who was in with Cassandra Rawlings and the bunch. I wonder how many CBS old timers realized that Meta Bauer wasn't Jo (SFT).
  19. Absolutely. @alwaysAMC the worst example was on another world and Jensen Buchanan didn't want to play Vicki and het twin Marley so they had Marley burn up in a fire so Ellen Wheeler (who played both twins in the 80s) could reprised Marley. So suddenly, the one twin is like 10 inches taller than the other one. 😆 The DeMarco plot was just poorly written. If ppl were honest, Annie was probably more popular than Reva despite being the "villain. They really needed to be done with Annie-- rest the character at the very least.
  20. I used to see that AMC actress in the soap mags and just found her stunningly beautiful. The Annie recast was going to be a no-win situation anyway-- big shoes to fill.
  21. If you were to recast Harley in 2008, would you bring back Hayley (ex-Courtney, ATWT) or go completely fresh. For old times sake, I would bring on Lucy to replace Harley. I would recast tho. Maybe Erin Hershey (port charles)? Jessica Morris (oltl)?
  22. IMO, SC was too identified with being a blind farm woman on Y&R to be effective as Annie aka Terri.
  23. Brittany Snow was the better Susan/Daisy. Daisy was even more of a brat the second time around and her "little sister" Lizzie was now years older than her and I don't believe they really interacted in any meaningful way.
  24. Be careful what you wish for.
  25. Lol, I got Claire and Alan in bed on my YT feed the other day. Sign that it was time to clear watch history.
