  1. Under Rauch new supercouples Rassie and Manny became popular, at a detriment to the show. They needed a bigger emphasis on the core families instead of just having one or two Bauers, and a handful for the other families. Too many random, unrelated characters when they should've mined the various family trees. Jim and Tony Reardon could've had children, Bridget and Matt definitely had more siblings. Then of course there's Bea Reardon's other daughter that was never cast. Nola's daughter Anastasia should've been cast and maybe a plot involving Floyd being released from jail and wanting a relationship with his grown daughter. If Rick, Phillip and Beth were there, Melinda Sue should of been there. Alan-Michael also should've been back after two or three years away.
  2. I found the first half of the clone story very good. Joie Lenz was captivating as teen Cleva, and RN had some really great scenes portraying his grief and desperation. At the end of the day it was just another lame doppelganger storyline.
  3. Jerry ver Dorn, 1980 https://youtu.be/g_IVCqP4Q6k
  4. Others have said it, but I agree. Best 2002: Guiding Light. The Interim hiring Team of Millee Taggart and Carolyn Culliton finally got the show back on track after the dark age of B&E running the show into ground. Unfortunately all the improvements were flushed down the toilet the next year with John Conboy. In 2003 the show was way worse than Brown/Esenstein, perhaps the worst ever. Worst of 2003. Perhaps the worst year ever for the show. Serial killer Ben Reade, Alex stalking Reva in a painful mid-story re-write, Marilyn Carrouthers. wasting Peter Simon after finally getting him to come back the year prior and never giving us the teased story about his time in Africa.
  5. Didn't watch the show but Santa Barbara's Cruz and Eden were a top 80s supercouple despite the show's low ratings.
  6. Best of 1986: Another World In 1986 Another World was really firing on all cylinders with the peak of Cass and Kathleen, the introduction of Reginald Love, Mary/Marissa and Micheal Hudson. The return of Mitch, the tragic courtship between Felicia and Zane. Worst of 1987: Another World Margaret DePriest had a great first year in 1986 but 1987 took a deep dive downward with Brittany, Catlin, Peter and Kathleen gone and Cass gone for about six months. Cass lost his spark after Kathleen's "death." The momentum of The McKinnon family was wasted. They lured Denise Alexander to the show then quickly write out her family and recast her husband Vince. Veteran AA character Quinn was brutally killed off for shock value after building her up with Zack. Plus replacing the majestic theme from 1981. The introduction of John Hudson and the SORASing of Amanda were bright spots.
  7. They should replace LG with someone who has charisma. Yes, the writing is garbage but she's not very good in the role either.
  8. GL: kimmer and robert Newman as Reva and Josh. Jerry verDorn as Ross Marler.
  9. Good riddance. It was hard to see the actor and not hear "Liberty Biberty."
  10. Redundant post deleted. But agree with the previous posts regarding GL.
  11. You can have soaps on streaming platforms but umless they commit to a 4-5 episode a week format then it's not a daytime soap just another online drama. Frankly I don't think younger audiences could handle the quantity of daytime as they focus on quality and have shorter attention spans. I feel the future should be to spin-off new weekly shows off of General Hospital and other ABC Intellectual property that could attract new audiences with 10-20 episode seasons.
  12. Do we know when this "twist" is supposed to drop? Seems like we've been speculating forever.
  13. Agree to disagree, no hard feelings man!
  14. I would've had a Mike Bauer recast come on in '99 to take down the Santos clan. Mike would get shot, possibly killed bringing Hope back to town with Alan-Michael who just split up with Lucy off-screen. 2001 I would've given Rick a teen son from his Chicago days forming a new Musketeers group with Lizzie, Bill and either a SORAS'd Marina or another character.
  15. The story isn't great but l will take history in any form. Jamey had lots of great ideas in his podcast referencing history and all that. To me the main draw of soaps in the continuity. I think Saranee is crap but I really do appreciate name dropping. It's referencing show history, that's how I see it. He had great ideas on his podcast and it's great to see someone who loves the genre be able to contribute to the medium. I'm not defending the Renee story, I'm defending Jamey and using a shows deep history. I appreciate deep cuts, even if I wasn't watching back then.
  16. The Guiding Light 70th anniversary episode, recreating the shows early years. BE as Irna Phillips and KZ as Bert Bauer 😆 😆
  17. True, too cheap. If you can't do a story right don't even try. I think a plethora of flashbacks would've made the story work as it has potential.
  18. So by your logic Roger and Holly should've never returned to GL in '89 because they were ancient history and the show was 95 percent different cast characters.
  19. I agree but that's what flashbacks are for.
  20. I enjoy name dropping. I appreciate any reference to a shows history despite execution, I will give them the credit. How I would've loved GL in the 90s or 00s name drop Katie Parker, IQ, Steve Jackson, Kelly Nelson or Dr. Paul Fletcher.
  21. I would make random deep callbacks to a shows history. Like on GL. DA Doris Wolfe could've been a child of Dr. Fletcher or something. That's one thing I'm enjoying about Days even if the execution isn't always great. I appreciate the effort.
  22. Frankly, I'm glad someone like Jamey who knows and loves the history of Days is on staff. As a GL fan I wished we had deep callbacks to that shows history like that. Now the execution of using said history us a different matter but I appreciate the attempt. Also, I'm so on board for EJ/Belle. (BE-J?, BELL-J?)
  23. Does Sarah/Renee know forty years passed? Maybe she thinks it's only been a few months? I only ask because I miss a lot of the show.
  24. I saw today's episode, of course Satan's shape-shifting turned Gabi against Jake. Oh well, I'm just glad to have some corporate storyline. Also, Alex Marshall is a deep cut. Is the character still alive (not that that matters 😏)? They should bring that character back.
