I think Katie Couric might be referring to the swing states that haven't been called yet, or those states who appear to be leaning red but don't have many votes counted yet.

Katie Couric just said this was true of 2020.

As happens in many years, in many states .. the less densely populated rural counties (of whatever state) report in earlier, as those votes are counted faster. The more heavily-populated urban/suburban counties take much longer to count.

https://x.com/BarackObama/status/1853904959412338963 Barack Obama @BarackObama It took several days to count every ballot in 2020, and it’s very likely we won’t know the outcome tonight either. So please keep a few things in mind as you make your voice heard today: – Thousands of election workers around the country are working hard today. Respect them. Thank them. – Don’t share things before checking your sources. – Let the process run its course. It takes time to count every ballot.

Hours extended at 9 precincts in eastern Arizona county https://apnews.com/live/trump-harris-election-updates-11-5-2024#00000192-ff4d-df8c-a7fb-ff4ff1200000 A judge has ordered polling places to remain open two extra hours in nine precincts in an eastern Arizona county following a rocky start to Election Day that included malfunctioning equipment and a lack of printed ballots. Apache County Superior Court Judge Michael Latham agreed to keep the polls open at the request of the Navajo Nation, which filed a lawsuit asking for extended hours due to the problems. Meanwhile, bomb threats to polling places at schools in neighboring Navajo County prompted some to close momentarily and one to evacuate and send students home for the day. Authorities said they received email bomb threats at four locations in Navajo County, including at least three polling sites. They determined the threats were not credible.

North Carolina hasn't been called yet. Tr*mp is leading in the areas reporting, but the entire state is not definite yet. Many of the state’s most populous counties haven’t reported significant numbers of votes cast in person on or before Election Day.

To keep my sanity, I'm on Paramount Plus watching random episodes from all the Star Trek series. I need the affirmation of their vision for intergalactic harmony of all sentient beings. And also watching some silly comedies. and wordless nature videos.

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cx2n4g86dw9o Kamala Harris will spend election night at Howard University, her alma mater and a historically black university in Washington DC. The Democratic presidential nominee graduated from Howard in 1986 with a bachelor's degree in political science and economics. She has maintained close ties with the school and often describes her four years there as the most formative of her life. Howard's president, Ben Vinson III, said that it was the first time in modern history that a college campus has hosted a presidential election watch party. Classes were cancelled on Tuesday to give students the best opportunity to vote. Harris supporters gathered outside the school before the watch party began. Founded in 1867, Howard is one of the largest, and most academically rigorous, historically black universities in the country. It produces more black PhD recipients than any other university in the country and currently serves about 11,000 students.

I started following twitter during the Arab Spring when young people were discussing overthrowing repressive regimes. It was a way to communicate anonymously and bring about positive change.
