The Politics Thread
It's happening all over. U.S. citizens being arrested and jailed for existing. Citizens showing their documentation and the police pretending no documents were shown. If you don't know how to get an immediate hearing in front of a judge, you get deported/disappeared from your own country. It's recommended that you have a lawyer to call, family to call, and to know what courthouse will hear your case. Make sure your family and attorney have legal certified copies of your birth certificate, passport, citizenship, social security card, drivers license, etc. -- readily available to bring to any courthouse in case you are arrested. Part of the issue is that some who are randomly rounded up like this... don't know what procedure to follow, and to request a hearing. If you don't demand a hearing and obtain the hearing, they try to deport you without a hearing. None of this is legal but this is what is happening.

B&B: April 2025 Spoilers
There was an additional item for Friday April 25. [This is in soaps.sheknows extended verbiage] "Brooke and Taylor’s unknown and undetectable presence causes undue stress and brings even more heat to the already electric catwalk." (possibly a reference to the scene in the promo video where Taylor shuts the door backstage where she and Brooke are?) -------------- There seems to be an implication that the showstopper has the potential to be delayed, due to the Taylor/Brooke situation?

B&B: April 2025 Spoilers
previous description for Monday April 21 via tvguide.com was wrong "Luna comes up with a new scheme. Electra is conflicted. Grace and Bridget discover the truth. Liam makes a bold move." Luna and Electra didn't air at all, nor did they air on prior episode. Grace and Bridget discovered the truth (that Liam has an inoperable tumor) on Friday April 18. They had nothing new to discover on Monday April 21, although it's re-discussed. Liam made a bold move (to leave the hospital against doctor advice, to go dance with Kelly) on Friday April 18. I guess his continuing with dancing on Monday is a continued bold move. I see that tvguide.com is now updated with *new* wrong episode descriptions -- the ones that have been circulating online (the same wrong ones on imdb). It would seem that somebody took the two preview videos ("a look ahead" and fashion show promo) and typed up descriptions of the scenes that are in those videos, and then assigned those scenes to the wrong airdates. --------------------------- Corrected listings follow in next post.

I don't think all of these parties/events are supposed to be life-changing or advance story. Some will, but not many. I think the entire point is that these are wealthy people who throw fancy parties all the time. This is how they live. I think it's more about the lifestyle. It's not a working class soap.

Re: various posts above wondering about the name "Articulettes" ... fyi, In real life, Michele Val Jean was once a singer in a real group named The Articulettes. Tamara Tunie says that the backstory for fictional Anita is that Anita and her high school friends were discovered at a talent show, and became the Articulettes and then later Anita shifted from pop R&B into becoming a solo jazz artist. Tamara Tunie and Sheila Ducksworth discuss all this (including MVJ's real group) at about 36:40 of this Paley Center panel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xg5rFNDyBHg

GH: April 2025 Discussion Thread
This is what annoys me the most. It's so insulting to the history of Taggert and Trina. I dislike it very much when soap writers randomly designated a bio-parent to have precedence over the parent who loved and raised the child. I don't know why the show doesn't use Real Andrews anymore. But even if they don't want to use the actor, Trina should be written to be thinking of Taggert as her father, and mention him from time to time.

GH: Looking Forward (Promo for upcoming months, 4/19/2025) - "What cast would like to see next"
After looking back at our 2024-25 season, it only seemed right to turn our sights toward the year to come. Enjoy! #GeneralHospital https://www.facebook.com/generalhospital/videos/614103388277427 CLARIFICATION: some of this is what the individual cast members would like to see, some of this is what's airing now, and some of it is a spoiler for the coming months.

As I commented above, Joey seems to be known to the locals as a gangster. So how was he let into Fairmont Crest to meet with Vanessa? They frown on Hayley but he walks right in? I can't remember if Joey has been seen at Orphey Gene's? Just sayin' if mobster Joey is hanging out at Orphey Gene's Soul Kitchen, that's not quite as bad as Stefano on DAYS hanging out at the Brady Pub, or Sheila Carter waitressing for all the regular B&B characters, but still... Keep the mobsters out of Orphey Gene's!

I really love the show. The only parts I don't like are Ashley/Derek and the casino mobster stuff. Otherwise, I'm very entertained!

BTG: April 2025 Discussion Thread
Same. And it's sad for me because I'm a Jon Lindstrom fan. I keep thinking about how, in real life, Jon just wrote and published a novel about Hollywood gangsters, and perhaps he feels that that's his main interest now? I feel like Jon is hamming up the gangster stuff and not *being* the character -- however the writing for Joey is bad, too. But Joey just doesn't feel like a real person to me. Slightly more believable today, but the hospital set scenes were so weirdly blocked, that it made it even less believable. Did MVJ always envision a random gangster in her show bible? Or did she shoehorn this in for Jon? I wouldn't be asking that question if it were done well and worked as part of the canvas. But the dialog for Joey, and the poorly designed casino back room set, make it all feel discordant with the rest of the show. And of course I have to ask, did Guza want mob stuff? I hope that's not from him. I'd rather just watch MVJ's show. Oh and Joey seems to be known to the locals as a gangster. So how was he let into Fairmont Crest to meet with Vanessa? They frown on Hayley but he walks right in?

B&B: April 2025 Spoilers
I saw those -- they keep getting retweeted and spread, but I don't think they're verified. Some of the stuff mentioned happens as per both preview/promo videos, but it seems that dates assigned don't match, as you pointed out. I see now that someone has uploaded that unverified batch to IMDB for this week's episode descriptions -- another reason to question what's on IMDB.

I think she lied to her friends at the diner about where she got the money for the fancy clothes. She probably bought the clothes with some of the money Ted paid her to leave town. I don't think she's been to the casino recently. I think she just made up the lie on the spot. in order to explain how she could afford it. Well, maybe she used some of Ted's money to gamble at the casino? But I doubt it. Maybe she thinks none of her diner friends go to the casino, so they wouldn't check.

Cwikly/Ford from April tvinsider: “Gwen’s return was in the works before we were hired. DAYS: Cwikly/Ford (the new writing team) interviews with spoilers
I was annoyed by this from the Cwickly/Ford tvinsider item: “Arianna is a Brady, a Horton and a Hernandez, so we were eager to have her back on the canvas to round out the teen scene. We also love seeing the maternal side of Gabi.” They didn't mention that Arianna is a Kiriakis, too. Sonny is her third parent. He's her godfather, her legal stepfather, a father of the heart, and also Gabi signed papers that Sonny would have some rights if anything happened to Gabi and Will. And Ari calls both Will and Sonny some sort of Dad/Daddy/Pop etc. name Edit to add: Sonny delivered Arianna at her birth.

Credit to @Bright Eyes who mentioned this on another thread: In this interview, Melissa Reeves confirms she returns in early June for John's memorial episodes. The memorial would be airing sometime in June. https://www.womansworld.com/entertainment/celebrities/melissa-reeves-talks-days-of-our-lives-drake-hogestyn-nashville This tvinsider article from October 2024 shows some of the June 2025 returns: https://www.tvinsider.com/1155196/days-of-our-lives-returns-charles-shaughnessy-christie-clark-victoria-konefal-thaao-penghlis-matt-ashford/ Quite a few photos in this article. Thaao did confirm on twitter that he returns in June. (I don't know if these returns are all for John's memorial, but they are appearing in a June timeframe). These screenshots are from the "Season 60" trailer which covers November 2024 into some point in the Cwikly/Ford regime. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EI-1bN19UWk As of 4/21/2025, I believe these screengrabs are the only scenes from that trailer that haven't aired yet. Don't know exactly when they'll air. This scene from the trailer - is it from John's memorial? Or does the family gather for some unrelated reason before they learn news about John? I don't know. (In this scene of Hope and Julie from the trailer - they are discussing that Bo will soon walk through the door). Hope and Julie are wearing the same wardrobe here as in the BTS photo within the tvinsider article from October 2024.

DAYS: Cwikly/Ford (the new writing team) interviews with spoilers
from the April TVGuide and tvinsider interviews re: John/Drake: Cwikly and Ford: The first task we were given was addressing the months-long absence of John Black [Drake Hogestyn, who passed away in September 2024 from pancreatic cancer] from the canvas. While we wanted John to have a heroic and meaningful exit, we wrote the story with the fervent hope that Drake would be able to return someday. John had already been off the canvas for over nine months, and there were only so many missions the man could be on. His family and friends in Salem, especially Marlena, were sort of stuck waiting for him. Realizing he might never come back, while praying he would, we needed to craft an exit that honored John, Drake, and the fans. from the April 2025 soaps.sheknows article “Sadly, the first thing we had to deal with was the absence of John Black,” they acknowledge. “The character had already been MIA from the show for over nine months. His loved ones, especially Marlena, were stuck in a holding pattern while he was gone. We had to execute the tough decision of exiting the character in a way that was meaningful and respectful. We all hoped, until the very end, that Drake would beat that horrible disease and come back, so we did have a plan in our back pocket to make that possible.” ---------------------- Both of those interviews seem (?) to indicate that they had planned to write it with the possibility/hope that Drake might be well enough to appear again, but then he wasn't. I wonder how that will play out on screen? Will there be several weeks of characters wondering before it's confirmed that he's gone? Last autumn, the actors confirmed that John's memorial ended up being filmed just before Drake passed on. It's all so sad.

DAYS: Cwikly/Ford (the new writing team) interviews with spoilers
Just the spoilers from the above articles from TVGuide and tvinsider on casting ideas overall and also re: the Hortons: Cwikly and Ford: We wanted to bring more Hortons back to the canvas, give meaningful story to the beloved vets, and flesh out our younger cast to give Salem a true multigenerational appeal. Spoiler from the soaps.sheknows article https://soaps.sheknows.com/days-of-our-lives/news/777994/preview-new-writers-start/ “Bope” are on their way back in May. Cwikly and Ford share that it “dovetails into the emotional return-filled farewell to John.” from TVGuide and tvinsider on John/Drake: Cwikly and Ford: The first task we were given was addressing the months-long absence of John Black [Drake Hogestyn, who passed away in September 2024 from pancreatic cancer] from the canvas. Spoilers from the tvinsider article: https://www.tvinsider.com/1187291/days-of-our-lives-changes-storylines-2025-writers-interview/ Bo and Hope’s return: “Bo/Hope’s previous exit story could not be executed as originally planned, and we felt we needed to give them — and their fans — the resolution they deserved.” The end of John Black’s story: “It was very hard [to write]. Everyone on the show, including us, loved John and Drake. They were both Superman, and this was not supposed to happen. Logistically, it was difficult because it was our first major story. It was an emotionally fraught situation that involved numerous variables beyond our control. First and foremost, we wanted to respect Drake’s legacy and everyone who loved him.” Marlena: “Marlena will be very busy in the coming months as a mother, grandmother, psychiatrist, and friend. She has counseled many patients on grief and has obviously experienced loss herself, but losing John forces her to re-explore who she is without him.” DiMera and Titan: “The business story primarily serves as a backdrop to the complex family dynamics, with Xander/Philip’s fraught relationship playing a central role.” The fallout of EJ’s shooting: “This story was perfectly poised to take off when we took over. There are many viable suspects with means, motive and opportunity. There will be a trial in the summer that involves many characters on the canvas.” Stephanie and Alex: “We will see their courtship, and Alex will help Stephanie find a new side of herself.” Belle and EJ: “Belle knows EJ is toxic, but she can’t seem to stay away from him…” Gwen Rizczech’s return: “Gwen’s return was in the works before we were hired. We love Emily O’Brien and think Gwen can stir up a lot of mischief in Salem.” Arianna Horton’s comeback (SORAS/recast with Marissa Reyes) : “Arianna is a Brady, a Horton and a Hernandez, so we were eager to have her back on the canvas to round out the teen scene. We also love seeing the maternal side of Gabi.” New Rachel Black (Alice Halsey) : “We cannot say enough good things about Alice Halsey. She is talented beyond her years and has been a fantastic addition.” From TVGuide and tvinsider: What can you tease about the actual 60th celebration? Cwikly and Ford: There will be a gala celebration with the return of many familiar faces, leading to a new umbrella story that takes us into the New Year.
