  1. Not just Jason, they have no idea what the hell to do with Anna too.
  2. Shout out to you @SFK for turning me on to this jam way back when, lol
  3. Looks like Mishael Morgan is in some Canadian production with Jake Epstein (Craig) from Degrassi: TNG. https://www.instagram.com/p/DAT2dy9Rmys/?igsh=Ympnd2NsZ2djNDIx
  4. Maybe they’ll occasionally do some exteriors here and there in DC, but I doubt it will be anything too significant.
  5. From Karla Mosley’s comments section, it looks like the main producers are in Atlanta right now, and the fact they’re already doing wardrobe fittings suggests that more than 3 people have already been cast. I guess we’ll know more pretty soon. I must say that it appears that things have been carefully planned for this show and they’ve really seemed to take their time to do things right. We’ll see in the final product, but this doesn’t feel like a rushed job to get on the air as quickly as possible. I’m curious who the Directors (in addition to the rest of MVJ’s writing staff) will be - will they hire from within the daytime soap ecosystem, local Atlanta or the Tyler Perry/Will Packer talent pool, or try to find fresh people to give the show a more distinctive look.
  6. Haha, so Michele Val Jean did steal Jeresa Featherstone from B&B to do wardrobe! 😆
  7. Randy Jackson is openly MAGA btw….
  8. Much like its Paramount peer, MTV, BET has become a wasteland for block programming. Though, it does make sense to repurpose BTG there in hopes of attracting more viewers. BET did air old Generations episode for like a year or two after NBC canceled it. That’s where I first discovered that show - and realized what an uninspired and creatively inept storyteller Sally Sussman Morina really was. Generations could have been so much better in the hands of a better writer. I hope MVJ (who got her first soap gig on Generations) is taking a look at that show and examining what worked and what didn’t.
  9. On the topic of Shayne, I did really like Billy Kay in the role and I was sad he was let go by Conboy. Sure, maybe he wasn’t soap “pretty” but he had a very endearing presence and it felt like he could be Zimmer and Newman’s son. His New York/Long Island accent was pretty apparent, lol, but the NYC-based soaps couldn’t ever escape that with kid/teen actors.
  10. Look, I think JER took Passions very seriously in the beginning, but it just never clicked, and that was a hard pill for both JER and NBC to swallow. Very soon after, they started spinning it as a “parody” or a “spoof on soaps” to save face - the problem was, none of it was amusing and treated the audience as if they were stupid most of the time. The show was not what JER wanted it to be and at some point, he just gave up and tried to double down on making it as stupid as he possibly could, and NBC could do nothing about it because of the deal they had in place with him.
  11. I’m really f.ucking disappointed in Janet for this sh!t! Is this the same Janet that once preached tolerance, the importance of education, and questioned the ‘State of the World’? Janet Jackson tells interviewer she's heard Kamala Harris is not Black, echoing election disinformation
  12. And while those two soaps reached unimaginable pop cultural heights, TCS and MSW had more longevity. MSW (and yes, 60 Minutes) kept the Tiffany Network alive for a very rocky decade, and TCS pioneered NBC’s primetime dominance on Thursday nights (the most lucrative night in terms of revenue) for two decades.
  13. I wan’t in charge of accounting to know if money was being spent that didn’t exist (if that’s the case, MADD and higher-ups needed to be fired and charges should have been filed against them for lack of fiscal oversight) but anyone could see Conboy was spending money in stupid ways. We got a baseball set for Shayne that was probably used 5 times, and Maureen Garrett had to be taken off contract to free up money? The budget was being mismanaged regardless if it existed or not.
  14. Oh, I don’t think either would have been “great” but I think they would have been less corrosive than what Conboy did. The show likely would have had much more of a soul in its waning years than it ultimately did. We probably would’ve avoided Wheeler altogether since she was an abrupt hire. Conboy was just wrong for this show at all levels. It makes my teeth itch that MADD went out of her way to hire him and lure him back to daytime for what we ultimately got and what he did to the show.
  15. I’m more interested in the unknowns they cast tbh. Soaps can live and die by how charismatic the actors are onscreen despite the material they’re given. I want to see some dynamic, charismatic, and sexy unknowns given a platform to succeed. Given this is a brand new soap, the opportunity is there to help nurture that from the start. Honestly, getting someone like Tamara Tunie to headline this show was more than I could’ve asked for in terms of “name” talent for a daytime soap opera in this day and age.
  16. She didn’t have to kill Ross, but she did. It felt spiteful to me when OLTL offered Jerry a contract. Wheeler herself admits she was woefully unprepared to be an EP and her hiring by MADD was a pretty last minute and abrupt decision. When Rauch left in 2002, I wonder how much differently things would have been had they not hired Conboy and had he not proceeded to tank both the budget and what was creatively left of the show. Things probably wouldn’t have gotten so bad that they had to hire Wheeler because they either couldn’t get anyone else or afford to for that matter. Francesca James and Gary Tomlin were both rumored to be in the running for the EP job when Rauch left in 2002.
  17. I feel like it's probably incorrect information given it dates back to April, as MVJ is labeling herself on social media as the "Creator, HW, and EP" of the show. Unless Susan is her Co-HW, but she also hasn't been on any of the list of EP's we've been given so far either.
  18. I wonder what the opening credits will be like - and will it be a theme song with lyrics sung by Tamara Tunie? I also wonder what the first week of episodes will be about. Will they kickoff with a big event like a wedding or even a political election? Or will it be more gradual and focused on setting up the domestic lives of these characters? A mix of both?
  19. These old commercials are the gift that keeps on giving...
  20. Cheers kind of became the anti-timeslot hit. While Cosby brought eye balls to it, it later flourished on its own and had its own unique dedicated following.
  21. The last 2 seasons were awful with Olivia and Cousin Pam overload. Too much cutesy kid sh!t with Olivia, and Pam had like no reason whatsoever to be on this show. In fact, I was so bored by Erika Alexander, and was surprised by how much I enjoyed her on Living Single later.
