  1. @Hunk Chandler Massey You really thought Nadal would win? The courts were so fast though. I think Federer excels on fast courts. Nadal's hard court game has come a long way since his early days but he's still not as confident on fast courts as he is on the slightly slower ones and Shanghai looked much faster than the USO this year, in terms of speed.
  2. So, no word on the worst terrorist attack in Somalia's history? At least 230 people dead.
  3. This is a pretty cool thread. Hope it grows to include more players.
  4. You can tell Courtney Love was afraid of getting sued. She tweeted that after saying this she was banned by CAA.
  5. ICYMI from the NYPost, Shrinks take to streets to demand ‘narcissistic’ Trump’s ouster
  6. And this from a state where people proclaim loudly that they are Pro-Life. Their actions don't verify this. And this is a blunt statement but, explains the dysfunction of this current administration, in a nutshell.
  7. I don't know whether people have seen this, but I was reading an article on Puerto Rico and came across this clip of Ricky Martín (GH, Miguel) on Ellen talking about relief efforts in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria ravaged the island.
  8. Several states vow to sue Trump administration over Obamacare sabotage
  9. I only listened to one recording earlier in the week and that was all I could stomach, TBH. It made me so upset.
  10. Pamela Long was a talented writer. I was reading that some people blamed her for having Reva Shayne eat the show in her second stint as HW for GL but I mostly enjoyed those years.
  11. @Mitch No fair, those screenshots are from the same scene, the plane ride where he returns to Oakdale, thinking that Sierra was dead! Victor Newman on Y&R cried a lot more over the course of his soap career than Craig. I do think that the writing exploited the fact that Bryce could 'cry on cue' unlike a lot of his male peers. Perhaps too much but Marland was very much 'going with the flow' of the times. Could Craig have been written less "emo" during that time? Yes, but I can't blame Marland for writing the character to appeal to the majority of his audience members who were women and swooned over such a characterization. The early 80s were the time of "The Cad" where you saw a roguish Craig and the emergence of "Tad the Cad" on AMC. The late 80s were the times of "The Sensitive Man" where you saw much more expressive male characters-- look at the representation of 'non-villain' male characters on the soaps and you will see this pattern.
  12. So Trump, realizing that the replacement bills he tried to push were trash and that Obamacare, left alone would NOT flop, as he predicted, so he manipulates the circumstances to try to ruin ACA/Obamacare. It's not about creating good, sustainable policy that will help people, it's about destroying any and everything created under the Obama administration. Then trolls try to slither onto this board and defend an odious Trump and his odious doctrine. GTFOH! Trump, his enablers and his cronies are trash, pure and simple. I'm tired of talking around this fact.
  13. I remember seeing a documentary about Tippi Hedren (trivia fact: she's the mother of Melanie Griffith) where she talked about Hitchcock's obsession with her, even then she didn't go into detail about how truly bad it was. Only a year and a half ago, or so, did I find out the extent of it.
  14. It's a shame that when Rose McGowan was talking, many wanted to label her as unstable (i.e. crazy) and a troublemaker. It's unfortunate that anyone would seek to demonize women for being afraid to speak out and that it now seems to take a man speaking out for some people to realize that there is a stigma and a hopeless, powerless feeling that often makes people timid. Feldman was diminished by the repeated accusation that he was "troubled" but yeah, anyone would be troubled by a childhood beset by abuse delivered at the hands of predators. Feldman managed to survive. His childhood friend Haim did not. That these men are sit high on their perches while there are so many other talented people who would never abuse another person, is infuriating to me.
  15. Well, on that we both can agree!
  16. Not as a direct response to aforementioned stupid troll but as a reminder to stupid trolls in general who want to blame women for the lack of decency of sexual harassing men, Terry Crews talked about keeping his experience of being sexually assaulted by a Hollywood producer to himself and now James Van der Beek takes idiots to task for judging women who have not come forward.
  17. @Mitch You and I will have to agree to disagree on the "Battle of the Craigs", LOL. I do think Scott Bryce's versatility beyond soaps speaks for itself. He may not have had many leading man roles since ATWT but he's a consistently working character actor, which means a helluva lot in an industry rife with competition. Many soap actors haven't been able extend themselves beyond the soaps.
  18. Also a whole entire waste of space and time. I will never again make the mistake of responding to anything it ever posts. Debating sensible people that you may have disagreements with, from time to time, is fine, pointless arguments with stupid trolls is quite another.
  19. I'd heard about countries like the U.S. dumping their e-waste and old clothes in African countries but expired medicines?! Old buses and planes? I didn't know this dumping of old stuff was so pervasive. I hope these African countries can curb this because it's killing their ability to promote their own manufacturing markets. For Dignity and Development, East Africa Curbs Used Clothes Imports
  20. STFU @JONNYSBRO You don't get to judge others. You can barely use proper punctuation.
  21. Ordinarily, I'd ignore that troll, but you tell 'em, @JaneAusten!
  22. Read this editorial in the NYT that mentioned how Trump uses illness as a fear factor in order to utilize the fear as a political tool-- for instance when he tried to insinuate that HRC was very sick, and incapable of being POTUS, and the latest incident was to use the illness of the U.S. and Canadian diplomats at the Cuban embassy as a tool to rollback the Obama era of detente with the Cuban government. Mysterious Sounds and Scary Illnesses as Political Tools This got me looking for follow-up to the mysterious incident at the Cuban embassy and I looked at the Snopes.com fact check. Do 'Sonic Weapons' Adequately Explain 'Health Attacks' on Diplomats in Cuba? as well as this article in Wired magazine. WERE US DIPLOMATS IN CUBA VICTIMS OF A SONIC ATTACK—OR SOMETHING ELSE? They seem to cast doubt on it being a "sonic weapon" , positing that there were most likely chemicals being used that made people sick. Anyone who has ever been to Cuba knows that many of the buildings are decrepit, which does not bode well for things like proper ventilation systems. I once worked in a NYC office building where I got daily headaches, only in that building for the period of time that I worked there (fortunately, I was freelance for three months). Before that, headaches were rare for me. When I left that assignment, I'd never had those type of headaches again, certainly not in any other NYC (or elsewhere) building.
  23. Trump's visit to the U.K. has been downgraded, which means it won't be a state visit, he will not be a guest of the Queen. It will be a regular "working" visit. The Queen wants NO part of this fool! Donald Trump has state visit to UK downgraded 'and will not be guest of the Queen'
  24. You're probably right about Trump, likely we were too busy battling trolls in that thread to focus on it. Maybe Ailes had a thread too, but it must've been quickly buried by other threads. All of these men are so utterly egregious in their actions over decades.
  25. Not to mention Roger Ailes who had an entire newschannel and company filled with women who were routinely harassed. He was also in a position of power and could punish and promote at will. He also greatly abused his power. This thread really should be moved to the Movies and Music Section.
