I read that Trump was unhappy that parts would still be redacted. I have an idea as to why. That's neither here nor there anyway. Folks also need to remember that it matters not whether the actual election results were affected by the act, the criminality is in the act of collusion itself, with a foreign entity. That in itself is criminal and likely treasonous. Nixon didn't go down because he changed any votes, he went down because his operatives broke into the Democratic National headquarters trying to find information.

Didn't it take almost two years between the first indictment to Nixon's impeachment and resignation? I don't believe any investigation will take as long as that, in this day and age.

My news is currently reporting on this and has mentioned that since this is a criminal indictment, it is very serious. The anchor mentioned the possibility of someone being taken into custody within days but the indictment is sealed. I guess those JFK Files ain't gonna cut it, in terms of a distraction.

So apparently, yesterday an FBI informant was cleared to testify in front of Congress. Also, the Senate Intelligence Committee was informed earlier today but not the House Intelligence Committee. Hm, the plot thickens...

Paul Manafort's name has been mentioned on more than one occasion this week-- makes me wonder whether an indictment is headed his way. Oh well, someone is being indicted, that much we know. In the meantime, I hope there will be hearings on what happened in Niger because this seems like the U.S. military left their men behind. U.S. Soldiers Were Separated From Unit in Niger Ambush, Officials Say And what's even more disturbing is that when the so-called Commander-in-Chief was asked about this, he claimed ignorance, choosing instead to claim that the generals were fully in charge. Halperin has always rubbed me the wrong way. Whenever he came on TV to give commentary, it was usually time to change the channel or turn off the TV. If Ariel was more campy, ATWT should've brought her back in the show's final decade when they could've used her the most. James was still showing up in the late 90s/early-mid 2000s and having his sister there might have at least helped keep the character from going too far over the edge into caricature, which is what the James Stenbeck character ultimately morphed into in his final years on the show.- The Politics Thread
A friend of mine was visiting a city on vacation and was taking candids with various local people and happened to take a pic with an elderly snack vendor. It was only as she heard the "flash" of the camera, that she realized that the man's hand had drifted toward her behind. She told me the story when I was looking at her vacation photos.- The Tennis Thread
Magnus Norman is dumping Stan. Someone mentioned the irony of Magnus giving up this job to spend more time with family while a few years ago, Stan effectively chose to devote more time to tennis, effectively estranging himself from his wife and baby daughter, which looked a lot like choosing tennis over his family.- The Politics Thread

That's the M.O. in Russia. Historically, that is how they deal with anyone liable to expose them. Almost a decade ago, a reporter by the name of Anna Politkovskaya exposed what was happening in Chechnya in terms of Russia's version of its "War on Terrorism". She was murdered. Any journalist that exposed corruption in Russia generally wound up murdered. Remember Alexander Litvinenko the former FSB who died of Polonium Poisoning over a decade ago? He was murdered after writing exposés on the deadly apartment bombing in Russia and also named Putin as ordering Politkovskaya's murder. This is not unique to the dossier or collusion case. This is sadly, M.O. in how they handle any entity that opposes them and has the data/evidence to back it up. I don't see evidence of China, Syria or even North Korea being in on this. There are citizens in China, Syria and North Korea who are murdered for knowing too much, without question but those are likely to be their domestic issues. I doubt any of those nations, even the most rogue of the lot would allow another country to hold that many cards. They'd have way too much to lose if Russia turned around and implicated them.- The Politics Thread
I think it's more complicated than that. Syria and Russia collaborate on mutual issues, the way that the U.S. and Saudi Arabia or even the U.S. and Russia, the U.S. and China have historically collaborated on issues of mutual concern. China collaborates and defies the U.S. daily when it suits them. And China has shown equal cooperation and frustration with North Korea on matters of trade, borders and diplomacy. Even rivals and enemies who vehemently have times when they have collaborated over common cause. Trump may be Russia's 'useful idiot' but they've caused as many complications (the Chinese detest instability, and Trump provides plenty of this) as opportunities (he's made them look more progressive on issues like climate change).- Hollywood Sexual Harrasment/Assault Thread
I don't think I've ever truly wanted to be a part of the industry, I always just wanted my writing to be seen/performed on a larger scale than just community theater (no offense, community theater is lovely but very small). I figured out early on when my mostly White male professors were telling me in Grad School that I had to become absorbed in the specifics of the entertainment industry in order to gain entry, that it was easier said (by them) than done (by me). As a Black woman there were a lot of obstacles to my gaining entry, so that was the part of the advice that always seemed particularly dubious to me. There were a few times where I experienced first-hand how men in the industry took their privilege for granted. I knew very early on that I would not be allowed to network in the same way my male colleagues networked when an invitation to discuss career opportunities would often lead to another invitation that sounded a lot like a date. A follow up phone call might lead to the person discussing social, rather than professional matters. I guess, in a way, I was fortunate to figure out early on that I would always be treated differently and, in many ways "put upon" because of my minority status. I just hoped that my work would somehow find the right people, even if it was a small one. Otherwise, I truly wanted nothing to do with the industry. There is proof though, that the 'naming and shaming' is starting to expand outside Hollywood and the entertainment industry. While most people are focused almost exclusively on Russia, China has an agenda of its own to set its dominance among many of the world's countries. Xi Jinping Pushes China’s Rise Despite Friction and Fear In many ways, China has been far more effective than Russia in cultivating influence other countries (see Greece) because unlike Russia (which slips in and out of recession), China actually has the money that many poorer countries need to develop things like infrastructure and investment. Yet even with China, there is a limit to what other countries will accept and many of their neighbors in Asia/Asia-Pacific are still wary of China based on the history.- Hollywood Sexual Harrasment/Assault Thread
