  1. There are kids marching and protesting in cities that already have strict gun laws but I don’t see this action in other places. If the votes don’t matter, if voting doesn’t work, then what is the alternative? In places where people feel that their voting processes are suppressed and therefore don’t matter, what is the alternative of making change? Stacey Abrams made change, significant change in GA. Are people waiting for Stacey to fix everything for everybody? This is not to blame the victims but a genuine question about what can be done. There is the aspect that a percentage of the population, a portion of which are Latino, vote Republican, that cannot be ignored. It must be addressed in these representation issues. I am far from an expert, so I am genuinely interested in people’s thoughts on this. I was speaking specifically about Florida and Texas.
  2. People need to stop asking women of color to do all the heavy lifting and learn how to goddamn vote for the proper candidates! This is even worse than the idiot who asked Quinta Brunson to write a school shooting episode into Abbott Elementary.
  3. “I loved the soap,” he said in a 1994 interview. “I had an opportunity to make dialogue that wasn’t good seem bearable. The acting challenge was greater than if I was doing Tennessee Williams.” From Ray Liotta’s NY Times obituary. https://www.msn.com/en-us/entertainment/news/ray-liotta-of-goodfellas-and-field-of-dreams-dies-at-67/ar-AAXLt5i
  4. Patrick has gotten worse in terms of trying to center himself.
  5. Oh man, Depeche Mode is the epitome of mood music. This is too sad.
  6. Apparently, there is a report that Simona Halep had a panic attack. She is reportedly better now. Wow. One hopes that those who didn’t want to show any regard for Naomi Osaka discussing her mental health struggles will show some regard for Simona. They likely will since many tennis fans seem to prefer to see the players struggle.
  7. Okay, as a freelancer, this hit.
  8. Zheng ended Haley today. Sorry I missed this. I mean Halep. Whatever autocorrect.🙄
  9. Man, say it isn’t so! R.I.P. Ray Liotta, a prolific character actor.
  10. While those other dudes are dithering, James is still on the job.
  11. Jack Dorsey stepped down from the Twitter board, many say should come as no surprise, given that it was expected but the timing is leading others to interpret this as a sign that Jack is trying to distance himself (belatedly) from Elon Musk, who he had been reportedly in favor of buying Twitter, and also taking it as a signal that Twitter is in disarray. Sorry for the punctuation issues, but anything involving these clowns doesn’t inspire me to spend more time and diligence as I can barely stand them.
  12. If they want a business story that will play out like a soap opera, Y&R ought to have one of those companies be a social media platform instead of a podcast. Every day there are new twists and turns in this Twitter saga that reads like a kind of tech media soap opera.
  13. Dang, fighting two very dreadful illnesses.😔
  14. This video could go in a number of threads, but sadly it seems especially relevant to this thread right now.
  15. Aren’t these the same people who advocate for “Free Speech” when it involves the right to insult people? Now they want to tamp down someone who wants to say something?
  16. Don’t want to get too far ahead of myself and she is far from my fave, but Sloane Stephens really looked like she came to play today! That Nike kit is not flattering but I feel like that has become par for the course with most of the WTA and Nike these days.
  17. I really hope so. It seems like so much of the news that I have read recently seems so focused on what the Biden. administration has not been able to accomplish without giving as much focus on what has been blocking the way. Please let there be some good changes between now and the midterm elections.🙏🏾
  18. And it’s looking increasingly likely that Republicans will be back in power in the fall. I still hope that won’t be the case.
  19. An absolutely dreadful society we’re living in. There is no reason to be living this way. It’s sick!
  20. Tsonga looks exactly like both his parents together and Suga has grown but remains adorable. Tennis is losing so much personality and swagger because sadly, this marks the beginning of that. Tsonga is one of the very few who have beaten the Big 3 in majors. This ceremony is so poignant.
  21. Oh man, if only this could be untrue. Another blow to Guiding Light fans. R.I.P. Ms. Lawson. Procter and Gamble soaps have suffered some huge losses of their talented alumni lately, without any significant way to truly eulogize them publicly.
  22. Oh Tsonga:(( You tried your best though. 👏🏾
  23. I just finished watching a PBS Masterpiece miniseries called Ridley Road. Initially I got a kick out of the fact that the main protagonist bore a slight resemblance to Ileana Douglas but I quickly got caught up in the actual story. I had never read the novel so I didn’t really know what to expect, but the story had a satisfying conclusion.
  24. I’ve had to come to the realization years ago that not everyone has the same level of motivation.
