  1. This happened last night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
  2. What’s going on with Tio Toni and Felix? I saw that some people, presumably Felix fans, seem pissed at Toni. Did he bail on Felix? I know that Felix is due to play Nadal today. Does anyone have the 411?
  3. Whew, I felt her exasperation!
  4. C/O a generous stranger, free access to this article. “While Ms. James, a Democrat seeking re-election, does not have the authority to bring criminal charges against Mr. Trump or his family’s real estate business, she can file a lawsuit if she concludes that they committed fraud.”
  5. There is something about the Degrassi universe that eschews going too directly into adulthood and the life of adults. It’s something akin to when a member of Menudos’ voice cracks and starts to get deeper.
  6. In the other thread, I did post a tweeted video with young students protesting across from the NRA meeting, so things are starting to catch on in various areas today.
  7. These read like pitches, grounded in a loose confederation of abstract ideas with no real substance to the stories. More like story proposals. Concepts.
  8. Not only was it a dereliction of duty on the part of the police but they lied about it in the initial recounting of events. This may come as a surprise to many but as someone who grew up in the “inner city”, many of us know that police lie, plant evidence, harass (including sexual harassment) and assault (including sexual assault) people. As for lying about an event or occurrence that can easily be disproven, that seems to be a persistent addition courtesy of Trumpism, imo.
  9. The inaction of the police has been a topic for at the last 24 hours. Hopefully this scrutiny doesn’t just fade the way these issues tend to in our short attention spanned culture because it really and conclusively pushes back against that ridiculous “good guy with a gun” narrative. With the reports of children desperately calling 9-1-1 for help and a child pretending to be dead so that the gunman would overlook her, the children are out here fighting for their own lives.
  10. 🤣 I just saw the score and understand what you mean by this.
  11. There are kids marching and protesting in cities that already have strict gun laws but I don’t see this action in other places. If the votes don’t matter, if voting doesn’t work, then what is the alternative? In places where people feel that their voting processes are suppressed and therefore don’t matter, what is the alternative of making change? Stacey Abrams made change, significant change in GA. Are people waiting for Stacey to fix everything for everybody? This is not to blame the victims but a genuine question about what can be done. There is the aspect that a percentage of the population, a portion of which are Latino, vote Republican, that cannot be ignored. It must be addressed in these representation issues. I am far from an expert, so I am genuinely interested in people’s thoughts on this. I was speaking specifically about Florida and Texas.
  12. People need to stop asking women of color to do all the heavy lifting and learn how to goddamn vote for the proper candidates! This is even worse than the idiot who asked Quinta Brunson to write a school shooting episode into Abbott Elementary.
  13. “I loved the soap,” he said in a 1994 interview. “I had an opportunity to make dialogue that wasn’t good seem bearable. The acting challenge was greater than if I was doing Tennessee Williams.” From Ray Liotta’s NY Times obituary. https://www.msn.com/en-us/entertainment/news/ray-liotta-of-goodfellas-and-field-of-dreams-dies-at-67/ar-AAXLt5i
  14. Patrick has gotten worse in terms of trying to center himself.
  15. Oh man, Depeche Mode is the epitome of mood music. This is too sad.
  16. Apparently, there is a report that Simona Halep had a panic attack. She is reportedly better now. Wow. One hopes that those who didn’t want to show any regard for Naomi Osaka discussing her mental health struggles will show some regard for Simona. They likely will since many tennis fans seem to prefer to see the players struggle.
  17. Okay, as a freelancer, this hit.
  18. Zheng ended Haley today. Sorry I missed this. I mean Halep. Whatever autocorrect.🙄
  19. Man, say it isn’t so! R.I.P. Ray Liotta, a prolific character actor.
  20. While those other dudes are dithering, James is still on the job.
  21. Jack Dorsey stepped down from the Twitter board, many say should come as no surprise, given that it was expected but the timing is leading others to interpret this as a sign that Jack is trying to distance himself (belatedly) from Elon Musk, who he had been reportedly in favor of buying Twitter, and also taking it as a signal that Twitter is in disarray. Sorry for the punctuation issues, but anything involving these clowns doesn’t inspire me to spend more time and diligence as I can barely stand them.
  22. If they want a business story that will play out like a soap opera, Y&R ought to have one of those companies be a social media platform instead of a podcast. Every day there are new twists and turns in this Twitter saga that reads like a kind of tech media soap opera.
  23. Dang, fighting two very dreadful illnesses.😔
