  1. Former US Open-champion and two-times Wimbledon finalist Patrick Rafter will play in the men's doubles tournament with Lleyton Hewitt! http://tennis.si.com/2014/01/12/patrick-rafter-lleyton-hewitt-doubles-australian-open/ Great to see him back on a tennis court again, although it probably won't be for long. He's my all-time favourite player. A great player, and by all accounts an equally great person off the court.
  2. So they couldn't be bothered to bring Donna (or Scott or Kelly) back when they killed of Viv and Terry, but she's coming back now?!
  3. It wouldn't really make sense for Donna to return. Her relationship with Marlon was dead by the time she left, and her entire family, except her two small half-siblings, is gone from the show. (I'm still bitter about them killing of Viv by the way). Of course that won't stop them from bringing her back if they want to. The one person I would have liked to see back, if I was still watching, would be Robert. That he wasn't there to support Victoria when Jack died was unbelievable. Another blast from the past they could bring back could be Sam Skilbeck, son of Matt and Dolly. He left the show with his mother when he was only 8-9 years old, so he would be a blank canvas, yet at the same time a link to the old Emmerdale. He would be in his early thirties now and could have a family of his own. With him back they could also have Matt and Dolly make the occasional appearance, but only if Frederick Pyne and Jean Rogers played them. No re-casting thank you very much. Ok, Katharine Barker would be ok as well for Dolly since she originated the role before Jean took over. But this will naturally never happen. I doubt they even remember the Skilbecks now.
  4. A bit predictable perhaps, but here it goes.....
  5. A little question. What is your definition of a classic movie? Are all movies made/released before a certain year to be considered classics, or are there any more criteria they have to meet. And what about more recent movies? When can they be considered classics? I know Disney often labels their theatrical releases as classics almost instantly, or at least they used to. But how old should a movie be, or does age have nothing to do with it? I'm sure most people would now consider movies like "Star Wars", "Jaws" and "E.T" as classics, even though they were released comparatively recent.
  6. Sad that Christmas is over. It's my favourite time of the year. Not least because of all the wonderful music associated with the Christmas period.
  7. Amazingly I've never heard this version of this song before. It's beautiful.
  8. With the recent death of Joan Fontaine I would highly recommend "Rebecca", in my opinion Alfred Hitchcock's best movie. Starring the aforementioned Ms Fontaine, Laurence Olivier, George Sanders, and Judith Anderson as Mrs. Danvers, among others. "Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again......"
  9. This is something I will never really understand. The seemingly endless need from people to spew venom over the internet. Why is this so necessary? Do the success of other artists diminish their enjoyment of their own favourites, and that's why they feel they have to diminish what they achieve? The internet is a wonderful invention in many ways, but it sure brings out the very worst in some people. I've never been a fan of Beyoncé, but you cannot help but be impressed at what she's managed to do. To keep something like this secret in this day and age is worth respect, not ridicule.
  10. Bumping this old thread yet again.... I can't believe I forgot this one before. I'm not sure how popular/successful this show was in the U.S, but here in Sweden it was immensely popular. It became a cult classic, and millions of people watched it. It has been re-run several times since it first aired over 30 years ago, and has also been released in its entirety on dvd. This opening, and the majestic music, brings me back to my childhood.
  11. What do you all think of this? This could turn into a real international crisis, if it isn't one already. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-24692908 It's really astonishing if it's true, that the U.S has spied on the German Chancellor since 2002!
  12. A song by Björn & Benny + the voice of Helen Sjöholm = perfection
  13. I just don't know what to say.... He actually compared Obamacare to slavery??!! You know, sometimes it feels wrong of me to even comment in this thread because I live in another country with a completely different political climate. Here someone like Ben Carson wouldn't stand a chance to get elected to any kind of political office. (Not to mention that I am myself probably much further to the left, politically speaking, than any US politician)
  14. Love the bouzouki! It reminded me of this little personal favourite. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFORObM3I68
  15. This current situation doesn't exactly paint a very flattering picture of the U.S. or U.S. politics. How is the public reacting to this shutdown? Is public opinion as divided as the government?
  16. Isn't that Rafael Barba's (Raúl Esparza's character) role now, the courtroom part of the show? Personally though I would love to see Casey Novak back. I always liked her a little bit better than Alex Cabot.
  17. Trailer for Emmerdale Farm from May 1985
  18. I caught the error! Terence was Steph's brother, not her son! And I agree that they should have brought back Kathy and Caroline. But Kathy didn't come back for Jack's funeral either, although I believe that they did ask Malandra Burrows on that occasion, but she was sadly unable to attend.
  19. Former Emmerdale star Ben Freeman (ex-Scott Windsor) will play Fonzie when the musical version of the long-running tv-show "Happy days" will tour the UK next year. He will be joined by, among others, former pop stars Cheryl Baker (Bucks Fizz) who will play Mrs Cunningham, and Heidi Range (Sugababes) who will play Fonzie's girlfriend Pinky Tuscadero. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-23969428
