  1. It's wash, rinse and repeat with this show now. It's not that long ago that Lachlan held Rebecca captive, and now they're repeating the same tired story with Pierce and Vanessa. If this was the reason they brought Pierce back then why bother? And they finally did what I expected right from the start...put Jamie with Belle. I guess I should give them some credit, because it took them a little longer than I thought, but here we are...... Why does every story on this show have to involve a Dingle? I guess it's a bit hard to avoid though since that wretched family dominates the show so completely.... I'm really starting to lose interest due to the Dingle dominance. It's more of a chore to watch now, and life is too short to waste watching something you don't enjoy anymore. It hurts a little since I have so many fond memories of this show, and it's been a part of my life for so long.
  2. Yes! I finally found a good version of this beautiful theme on Youtube. It's the theme music from the mini-series "A Woman of Substance", based on the book by Barbara Taylor Bradford.
  3. Yes, Nadal is out!! https://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/51295106 Too bad that either Djokovic or Federer (in all likelihood the former) will reach the final. Men´s tennis need new faces. The Federer/Nadal/Djokovic stranglehold has lasted too long.
  4. But this is ridiculous..... https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/emmerdale/a30642992/emmerdale-pierce-harris-graham-foster-return/
  5. I hope Ashleigh Barty can give the Australian audience something to cheer about after the horrible fires. They haven't had a home player win in either Men's singles or Women's singles since Chris O'Neil in 1978!
  6. I like the sound of this..... https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/emmerdale/a30637236/emmerdale-charley-webb-debbie-dingle-return/
  7. Another death....

Derek Fowlds, who starred in "Yes, Minister" and "Yes, Prime Minister" in the 1980s, and was one of only two actors who stayed with "Heartbeat" during its entire 18-year run, has passed away at the age of 82.   :(

  8. Christopher Tolkien, son of J.R.R. Tolkien, has died, aged 95.

Without Christopher much of his father's work would have been left hidden. Thanks to him "The Silmarillion" was published, and his incredible work also resulted in the 12-volume "The History of Middle-Earth". For that so many of us will be forever grateful.

  9. Possibly. But in a post made to celebrate his 25 years of working on Emmerdale it would have been more fitting to post a picture of himself and someone like Steve Halliwell (Zak) or Paul Loughran (Butch), since they were the ones he worked with. Henry had been dead for 3 years when Sam first showed up, and he never appeared in an episode together with Amos either, (Amos only appeared in 6 episodes after Sam made his debut, in June and July 1995, and Sam was absent during those episodes) so why choose to post a picture of them on this occasion?
  10. James Hooton (Sam Dingle) celebrates 25 years on the show, and does it by posting a picture of himself with a photo of Amos and Mr. Wilks..... https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/emmerdale/a30470970/emmerdale-cast-james-hooton-major-milestone-sam-dingle/ Why? Sam is not particularly connected to the Woolpack, and both Amos and Henry were gone from Emmerdale before he turned up. And it goes without saying that Sam isn't in the same league as those two Emmerdale icons. Furthermore, the fact that this useless character has lasted 25 years is not something to celebrate...quite the opposite in my opinion.
  11. Bianca Andreescu has withdrawn from the Australian Open https://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/51075724
  12. Apparently Emmerdale beat both Coronation Street and EastEnders (and Doctor Who) in the ratings for New Year's Day. https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/emmerdale/a30378020/new-years-day-2020-ratings-emmerdale-coronation-street-eastenders-doctor-who/ But is it really anything to celebrate? Only 5 million viewers....
  13. Oh no Loved him as Edward in "Upstairs, Downstairs" His monologue about watching his friend die in the trenches of WWI in the "Another Year" episode was a particular highlight.
