All My Children Tribute Thread
That era also fascinates me as the show is moving into a very unique area for a soap - so much of the show taking place in New York alongside Pine Valley - and making it work. In both 1982/1983/1984 and then in 1987/early 1988 the show seemed to be finding a difficult balance until the balance was shattered. The show then becomes so streamlined after the 1988 strike and some of the negative response to choices made in late 1988/early 1989. I can understand why, but I think the show loses a richness and identity. I didn't realize how much was dropped due to the strike. I forgot there was a Pamela return. I wonder if Khami was asked to return (she was just recurring on GL around this time). If they weren't interested in Jeremy/Natalie as a serious pairing pre-strike I guess that helps explain why no one at the show seemed to care about keeping them together after their wedding.

ALL: Proposed plots/storylines that never happened.
I am, yes. I was trying to remember if that Eric/Caitlin (?) story was real. The whole Geri story was endless and confusing. I felt like we heard about her every time we saw Victoria and Cole for years on end. Then because they dropped the story, they suddenly claimed that he'd slept with Nina offcamera, months earlier.

ALL: Proposed plots/storylines that never happened.
Thanks. I'd add the vampire story for Diego on AW. I think AWHP mentioned that Ben McKinnon and Thomasina Todd kissed but that was quickly dropped. (was it Ben?) Y&R - bringing back the actor who played Lauren's stalker Shawn as a love interest for Ashley in 1996 B&B - wasn't there some story that went nowhere with Russell Todd as a neighbor and stalker of Taylor?

Would this include stories which were initially started but then stopped without any explanation or just stories that never made it to air even in short buildup?

NETFLIX: "A Different World" sequel revolving around Dwayne & Whitley's daughter in the works
It absolutely did. I can understand that the show had been moving away from Jaleesa more and more each season, even with the Sinbad relationship. I wouldn't have wanted them to just write her out but the method they chose was almost worse. Where can you go from there? They weren't going to be having a Taylor Time spinoff. And I don't remember much of any buildup. It made as much sense as if she'd married Mr. Gaines. That actually could have given her more storyline...

Y&R: Old Articles
Katharine Kamhi on All My Children, Guiding Light, Oprah cameo & Sleepaway Camp memories! - YouTube Katherine Kamhi talks a little about her brief appearance on Y&R, mainly that it was very hard for her to deal with the much faster pace of daytime in her years away. She says even though she didn't work with Peter Bergman, he remembered her from AMC and helped her get adjusted.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
Katharine Kamhi on All My Children, Guiding Light, Oprah cameo & Sleepaway Camp memories! - YouTube Katherine talks a bit about playing Marcy Campbell. She said she got the role because a casting person was recommended to go see her in an off-Broadway play. She mentioned that she later did an After School special with Ian Ziering. She's still good friends with Jennifer Gatti and Paige Turco.

ALL: Temporary Replacements
Katherine Kamhi (ex-AMC, GL, etc.) said she taped scenes for GH last year due to an actress who got COVID, but her scenes didn't end up airing. It's around 30 minutes in. I'm guessing NLG but who knows. Katharine Kamhi on All My Children, Guiding Light, Oprah cameo & Sleepaway Camp memories! - YouTube

GH: Classic Thread
Watching this interview with Katherine Kamhi, and around 30 minutes in she talks about her brief time on GH. She says she played the wife of a man who pretended he had a bomb so she could get healthcare. I remember that aired during the 2008 portion of the writers' strike. Do you remember what her character's name was? I was trying to remember to help add to her files for @slick jones info. She also said that last year she taped scenes for an actress who had COVID, but the scenes didn't end up airing. She had to memorize 60-80 pages overnight and that was so hard she didn't ever want to do it again. I wonder who it was. I am guessing NLG just based on her look. All My Children Tribute Thread
Katharine Kamhi on All My Children, Guiding Light, Oprah cameo & Sleepaway Camp memories! - YouTube Katherine played Pamela Kingsley. She auditioned to play Cassie on OLTL, and this led her to AMC. She said that she asked a recurring actress at the time on OLTL to help her learn soap acting. She said that Tudi Wiggins and Michael Minor were very kind to her. She praises Susan Lucci highly. She also praises Mark LaMura. She was neighbors with him when they were on AMC. Alan asks if it was uncomfortable to play love scenes with him given the age difference. She says that AMC didn't give her any material along those lines until she had been on the show for a year. She didn't have a problem playing love scenes with Mark because at the time she thought of herself as being older. She auditioned for Sleepaway Camp while still on AMC. She had to ask AMC about doing it. They told her she could, but that they'd be driving her back and forth. She said that when she was playing Pamela, women in the supermarket would try to hit her with their purses and she would have to tell them she was just an actress. She mentioned sharing a scene with Oprah. She said that was when she was about to leave the show - she'd been away to do films and they asked her if she wanted to go, so it was a mutual departure. They asked her if she would film a scene with Oprah because Oprah was getting her own show. Her first reaction was what kind of a name is Oprah. She said Oprah was great. Many years later, she got a call from Oprah's producers as they were doing a show about an actor's first scene and wanted her to be in the audience to surprise Oprah. She went to the taping with her daughter, who was 6 months old at the time. She said Oprah loved her daughter and went around holding her. She still has a photo of Oprah with her daughter. When Alan asked her if she preferred her AMC or GL role she said her AMC role as she got to do a lot more and she was the only teenager opposite all the adults. She said that when she had a brief role on Y&R, she reunited with Peter Bergman and he helped her adjust to how much tougher the pace for soaps was by that point.

I think Marland may have been critical, but he mostly did that behind closed doors. Ron never has.

NETFLIX: "A Different World" sequel revolving around Dwayne & Whitley's daughter in the works
'Different World' Sequel Sets Return Of Dawnn Lewis & Glynn Turman Very happy that Jaleesa will be back, in whatever capacity. Now please have her split up from the Colonel as I never believed that marriage.

GH: March 2026 Discussion Thread
I don't think they ever cared about redeeming Marco. He was meant to be a way to stretch the Sidwell story out, make us feel sorry for Sidwell, and reunite Brad/Lucas. After which they will probably go to the backburner or disappear entirely. It's very lazy as well as offputting because they didn't even have the guts to make him a gay villain who would live and die by his crimes in a flashy way. Instead, he did his father's bidding and was shot and left dying on the ground for others to find. Once again if you aren't a very limited type of gay man, you have no chance on this show. I don't know if Stevens is even still in the industry, but even if he is, I will be shocked if this show ever has a bisexual man. Or any American soap, frankly.

Passions Discussion Thread
@Ryanc2 A belated reply but I enjoyed reading your recaps for some of the earlier months of the show, especially detailing the set, which I never noticed as much when watching as I thought it had a somewhat generic look (not just true for Passions but any soap by that point). I think Travis Schuldt was adept at playing the out of touch, lost rich boy, which helped add some purity and clarity to his stupid and selfish behavior with Gwen and Theresa. That is lost with the recast.

The Politics Thread
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/mar/24/democrats-flip-florida-seat-emily-gregory-mar-a-lago This is probably more of a victory to make you smile than a sign of anything really changing in Florida, but a Democrat won the state house seat representing Mar-a-lago. The Republican she beat was a black MAGA, so this will just push that party to become even more racist. A Democrat named Brian Nathan also won a state senate seat tonight.

What is coming will likely make that period seem like paradise. (Dimon is bragging about how good more war in Iran will be so he must not be too upset about the state of things) I saw some article about the US declaring itself insolvent. Trump is already completely bankrupting us, in every way. And this is what the country eagerly voted for.
