GH: October 2025 Discussion Thread
I am curious as to how many Ava fans were Carly fans. I loved Carly's first few years on ATWT and I can see some of Maura's grit still, but it's so tough for me to have a response to Ava. I think in the time I've been watching again semi-regularly her best work was Ava's "breakup" with Nina.

@Maxim Thanks again. Great clip. Such layered work from Clint Ritchie, Erika too. Both are in the wrong and in the right. Your description of the Luna story cracks me up.

That would be a great story, especially if he genuinely likes the younger man and realizes he has no choice, sees in the younger what so many have said about him over the years, finally has that crystalizing moment there's no going back from.

I loved her work as Maria - she was just a very underrated actress in general, typecast for sympathetic mom roles when I think she had a little more range. I always think she appeared more than she did as Maria. Clearly, we aren't going to get a Maria memorial episode, and we shouldn't, but hopefully Felicia will at least mention Maria as passing away.

I envy that mentality as it certainly would have made it easier to slog through the last 10-15 years of ATWT, just not caring. Of course, if viewers hadn't cared, ATWT wouldn't have lasted to that point, or much further than Golden Windows.

Thanks @Paul Raven I wonder if anything the Corringtons did there stuck. Did that "unfortunate accident" excuse actually make it to air? Interesting to see Liz Taylor's cameo derided as I think time has looked back on it kindly. I guess it didn't help that so much around then involved silly press speculation about Liz and Tony Geary being a couple.

As The World Turns Discussion Thread
Any implication on my part about Helen wanting Nancy to live with a man outside of marriage was unintended. All I questioned was how Helen felt about Nancy remarrying and the rest was my speculation on what could have been an interesting storyline. The bed part would be another interesting part of a potential story, as a number of older couples choose not to share a room and are together for other reasons like loneliness or comfort (or financial, although that wouldn't have been a factor in Nancy's case).

Game Shows
This channel has a number of episodes of a game show I'd never heard of called Musical Chairs. This one features Larry Kert, Sister Sledge, and a very animated Shari Lewis.

Did they claim he was accosting Kristina? I can't remember either.

I don't think he's as popular as he was years ago, he's just worn many down. The show will never get rid of him and any attempt at calling him out or bringing justice will meet the same end. It's one of the reasons I found the story for him in 2024 to be a chore.

That could have been interesting. Nancy feeling tired of being alone, seeing herself as a burden to Bob and Kim, and considering moving in with Mac, but not wanting to marry him. It would have been a dilemma for her, and for her family. I can see why Helen wouldn't rock the boat, as she'd already left the show once and may have known she might not be asked back a second time.

GH: October 2025 Discussion Thread
People bring up stories from decades ago, but I don't know how much the average viewer ended up caring. Sonny is just such a husk always outside of right or wrong - maybe if he'd gunned down Michael, but hell, who knows even there.

I really liked Mac. The only uncertainty I have is I'm not entirely sure Nancy would have ever remarried. I can't remember if Helen Wagner ever spoke about that.

GH: October 2025 Discussion Thread
I've heard a few people say this here and on Twitter, and I respect it, but the show is just so uninterested and incapable of writing romantic pairings, I don't think they would care even if he had a partner who was on contract. I think they resent when their pets don't get a good response for their love stories and don't make much effort otherwise. So we have Joss and her sex toy, not much else.

Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
As @AMCOLTLLover said, all the British soaps are like this and have been for years. The biggest difference is some of them have designated "comic relief" characters. All of Emmerdale's died or were turned miserable. There has been a dark cloud over Emmerdale ever since Gavin Blyth took over the show in 2009.

DAYS: October 2025 Discussion Thread
I know I've asked this before but who is Alex meant to appeal to, beyond his overexposed chest? There's no real charisma, no real acting ability, no real chemistry with anyone. He's surplus. I don't care how popular the serial killer doppelganger was a decade ago.

Thanks @Paul Raven Pat was certainly a colorful character. She wasn't entirely far off, as the show fell apart without her and they were lucky they had enough excess viewers to cushion the blow until things turned around. Yet she never seemed very easy to work with. I wonder what stories Pat would have told if she'd stayed. Is the strike period seen as being bad for GH (in quality, not ratings)? I suppose we can blame the Ice Princess for lots of trash to follow, but my guess is that was coming from some soap, strike or no strike.

That never really matters on a soap. That would be a great idea, if Frank could get past the idea of Laura having a story. (couldn't be worse than her insta-brothers)

GH: October 2025 Discussion Thread
They'd end up alienating many of the Valentin fans as many seem to just want him with Anna but I guess if they realize this is his last gasp. And Carly clearly has nothing else going on. If McKenna isn't written out maybe they will pair him with Anna. They had more sexual chemistry than many of the couples on the show.

GH: Classic Thread
I do think Monty often had that sense of reality in her run, at least for a while. As time passed it seemed to go to B or C-characters (like Brian and Claudia having big debts) but was still around. That's such a huge apartment...I guess if it was just one room it's not too unrealistic (then again soaps are never meant to be TOO realistic anyway).

I'd say maybe Ryan Quan being there might add a different flavor to these stories but I don't remember what I saw of them being interesting on DAYS either (admittedly I was not watching closely). Or Howarth. To be honest Howarth wouldn't have been a terrible AJ, once upon a time, but not these days. - GH: October 2025 Discussion Thread
