  4. I think they want her to be seen as edgy or unique or whatever. I think you can dress edgy and still look good but she often seems like a Barbie doll who was overly experimented on. I thought that again today with the crimped hair.

  7. Thanks for posting those. I enjoyed that special, even with the leaden quips and too much focus on recent stories. Anyway, today's episode was pretty good. I can't say I disliked any scene, aside from Heather's moaning. Poor Darren. I don't know what it says about Vanessa if Harry thought that she was sleeping with him. The scene where Phil tore through the Vic and stole from the till was genuinely scary. The show and Steve McFadden are doing a great job showing his downfall, without overdoing it. I really liked the scene where Ronnie said she appreciated Roxy doing all this for Jack, and Roxy said, softly, "I'm doing this for you." THAT is the type of relationship I have rarely seen between Ronnie and Roxy until now. Everything with Carol and her attempt to start over was very good, I felt sorry for her when Fatboy reacted that way. She looked pretty good though, even though that was the type of outfit few make work. I'm glad we're seeing more of her vulnerability and we're also getting a friendlier relationship with Bianca. I liked the casual cast integration in the episode -- the show has been getting better and better at this lately. Pat wandering by Bianca and Carol even though her main scenes were in the Vic, Liam and Morgan with Harry, etc. As with most soap clubs, R&R apparently was not made over for their grand re-opening. But I thought that last scene with Glenda and Peggy was good. Barbara Windsor isn't a great actress but she's a good reactor, she gives good soap faces. Her reaction to Glenda's news was perfectly done. I guess this is probably just about it for Glenda. It's too bad -- I think Glynis has done her best with a very poorly written role. I think she likes to look what she believes is young. She looked like an Easter basket. And Ronnie looked like she was wearing luggage.
  8. Yeah I would love to see that too. There's a lot of 1996 stuff on Youtube, surprisingly (I should watch it before it's gone) but not some of the earlier stuff, aside from a few clips. I won't be surprised if Leon dies in the fire but my guess is they will just leave town together. I'm watching the episode now and how I laughed when that "Billie is in a relationship" popped up on the screen and Whitney melted down. The Carol/Bianca scenes were great, I'm glad they are not always snapping at each other now. Glad that this circumcision story is over, although Max's one-liners were priceless.
  9. I think she was supposed to be a new Stacey or Whitney. I thought she was miscast from the start. Between her looking way too old for the role and having her speak in that awful fake accent. She is also a writer and is working on the new series of E20. I wish her luck in that role and not in this role. This is a clip from where Bianca, David, Pat, Janine, and Ricky are having a family meal and Carol crashes, spitting venom. I love that last bit -- just perfect Carol at her best/worst.
  10. Zsa Zsa is Shirley's niece, by her sister, Tina. Zsa Zsa left home because she doesn't get along with her mother. Her father is dead. You missed the thrilling scene where Zsa Zsa and her boyfriend Leon had sex by her father's grave.
  11. I didn't know any of that -- fascinating! So did he leave ATWT or was he fired? I wonder if they still write now.
  12. Heather has been a sniveling loser for most of her 3 years on the show. When she started out she wasn't so bad but once they decided to make her a regular character she's been pathetic. The show's excuse is that she was browbeaten by a horribly abusive mother and has been in a dream world ever since. I thought she was improving once she had a child but no such luck. At least she has stopped talking all the time about cheese and George Michael. There's a lot of bad blood between Carol and Pat because Carol was teenage sweethearts with Pat's son David, and David ran off when Carol was pregnant with Bianca (David was forced to leave by Jim and Max, and oldest brother Derek, but I'm not sure if Carol knew that until some years later). Then when Carol and family showed up in Walford she and Pat clashed over Bianca. I hope the show will stop having people be so rude to Carol soon. I have no desire to see 30 year old Fatboy chiding anyone for being too old. I hope they're just doing this because they want to make up for her being written as so sour on her return.
  13. Quick clip of Wayne Tippit as Jerry Ames, circa 1961. Don't think this is anywhere else online.
  14. He was brought in because RKK left the show very abruptly. Thomas pinch hit for those episodes until Sam could be written out temporarily. He'd been Derek on ATWT the year before. I'm not sure if it was ever supposed to be more than that or not. Probably not.
  15. I think that they just had no story for Val if she wasn't being terrorized by someone. I never had a lot of interest in Jill until she started going nuts, although I blame that on the boring backstory with that Hunt Block character. My favorite Jill scene was when she hit Paige with her purse which contained her brother's ashes in an urn. It was just hilarious. Paige was like "OW!" and Jill tried to pretend it was an accident.
  16. So the tabloids are doing the whole " most shocking scenes ever" bit about an upcoming story where Phil Collinson interview. http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnews/tv_and_showbiz/s/1313875_coronation_street_producer_being_in_corrie_isnt_forever__nothing_is
  17. Apparently Lee Bryant was playing Lyla all the way back to 1985! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvjMP8tmlrQ&feature=channel I was reading through an SOD from March 1982 and they say that Kristen Vigard (ex-Morgan, GL, later Joy O'Neill #1 on OLTL) temporarily replaced Andrea Evans as Tina when Andrea was ill.
  18. I always thought that deep down there was some respect between Abby and Valene -- Abby did tell Val that her babies were alive (thank goodness Donna Mills fought for that). I never believed Gary and Val were right for each other and I never enjoyed their relationship. It's not entirely the fault of the couple, because the show just gave up after they got back together in season 12, but I don't think they ever belonged together. They were teenage sweethearts who never knew how to grow up. Whenever they were back together they would regress. Ben/Val and Gary/Abby were far superior couples. Gary/Abby were so sexy and you had the drama of Gary knowing how "evil" Abby was but still loving her and knowing she represented his darker side. You had a lot of comedy with Ben and Val. I loved it. I still remember when he put on a kilt and played the bagpipe in bed. I don't remember Gary and Val ever laughing. I don't believe Gary, Abby, and Val were ever the same after those relationships ended. You had Abby pining for boring Michael York, Gary and Sally's Friend or whoever that was, Valene and the psychos of the season. The only Gary stuff I enjoyed then was with Jill and that wasn't because of their relationship but because I loved watching her go nuts.
  19. How Do I Live - Trisha Yearwood
  20. The start of this clip has a CLASSIC Gary scene, it's hilarious yet also so very Gary ("WE'RE HURTING PEOPLE!!!!"). I can't believe I had forgotten this. And the last has another great cliffhanger. Remember when cliffhangers didn't suck?
  21. Janet Jackson
  22. This was my favorite season finale, a real kick-ass cliffhanger which affected so many characters and had some hyperdramatic moments. Kevin Dobson is fantastic in that chilling last scene - "I got them, Karen." How I loved that image of Gary running from a traumatized Val to try to save Abby, as the limo with the Wolfbridge baddies drove away...this was one of the seasons which really built KL into a consistent ratings performer and secured it a long future on CBS. Gary/Abby were one of my favorite couples on the show, so much could have been done with them.
  23. Either that or had Kiss crash the stage and watch Karen try to prove she's "down with the kids" by hooking up with special guest star Gene Simmons. Gene loves Karen and wants to make her their new singer but she can't leave her family! The episode is a heartbreaker, but it ends on a positive note...Karen is watching a news report of their next concert, and at the end, Gene tells everyone to get that ERA ratified!!
