  1. Is that on Youtube?
  2. I don't know if Danny Miller would have been great at that type of stuff. I think there's room for this type of character but Aaron trying to turn straight men would box him into a very small corner. It would also bring up the question again of asexuality, and if Aaron wanted Adam, it would probably not be shown onscreen. I think they should just drop any gay stories if they don't want to make the effort to show them. The Emmerdale story is decently written and paced. It's the casting of Holly which failed. In comparison the Eastenders story is rushed but Steve McFadden makes you forget that.
  3. Tina Sloan tells a story about Buzz and Lillian. It's got a surprising twist. http://www.anotherworldtoday.com/specials/tinasloan.html
  4. I don't think he'll be straight, they can't really go back from the coming out story. My guess is that they will just not focus on his love life. The writing for Jackson has been shallow, using him only as a plot device and a shield so they won't have to actually write anything for Aaron's love life. Yet the writing for Aaron has become so poor I actually prefer Jackson.
  5. That does tend to be the type of person who gives fashion advice. Aaron related spoilers. So I guess you've heard that
  6. Thanks for the transcript and the video, both of you!! Wasn't expecting this. Kirkwood has some kind of odd charisma about him, he always has. And he's wearing the flannel shirt which most gay soap producers and characters seem to wear... I'm glad to hear Carol will be getting a story that will change her world. I wonder if she will have an illness. The line about seeing whether people deserve to be on Eastenders might rankle some but I think he has a point, and most of his firings so far have been correct. Interesting to see a glimpse of Kat and Alfie. Shane's facelift hasn't been TOO damaging but I hope he will still have the expressiveness he used to have.
  7. Thanks for posting those. I think the guy who played Ben for the last years of the show posted that. It's great to see Melinda Fee before she became so hard looking in her later soap years. Good work from her.
  8. That's not a very flattering photo. She did look harder-edged and more unique on PP, with the short hair, but she was quite pretty on GL. I really liked Julie, even when she was sweet. When she turned bad, I was kind of annoyed at first, but when she went after Lucy and gave story to Frank/Eleni, it was worth it.
  9. I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues - Elton John
  10. I think they should have brought Nick in but made him an ally to Alexandra or at least more respectful to her (he spent most of his time spitting venom at her, or at least that's how it seemed to me at the time). He and Mindy never should have been put back together after Kim Simms left. He should have stayed with Eve or been paired with Tangie. April 1994 SOD. K-III Magazine Co. This is around the time that mean mean wicked Julie won the beauty contest Lucy was supposed to win. Poor Lucy! I loathed Lucy at this time and I remember laughing and laughing. One of the more entertaining parts of GL at that point.
  11. Gee Whiz - Carla Thomas
  12. Thanks for posting that. It was interesting. I'm not sure I agree with the example of Rosie Webster. They have repeatedly given reasons for her having money (she got tens of thousands of pounds from John Stape before it was embezzled from her; then she started working as a model and was the face of an ad campaign). I do agree with him about the Peacocks. They had a whole story about how they were going broke and then it was like oh, well they sold a few old Beatles programs found in the attic, so we won't mention this money struggle ever again. This isn't new for Corrie. In the early 70s their new producer Susi Hush made the actresses stop wearing fancy jewelry and getting nice hairdos because she said it was not realistic to the nature of the show. A few years later, when Pat Phoenix/Elsie Tanner returned to the show, another new producer told her he would only let her come back if she would agree to tone down her look, as it was not realistic for Elsie. She agreed, but on the first day of filming, she showed up in a designer raincoat. She told the producer that she was a role model for a lot of impoverished women and she wanted to inspire them. I can see where Tony Warren would be annoyed about lack of realism but I think there are more pressing problems. IMO the most expensive props are Kym Marsh and Anthony Cotton.
  13. Day by Day - Godspell cast
  14. You remember so many details it's just natural for a few to blur together in the mind. I do remember that clip of Beverly. I was impressed by the actress in those clips so I guess it's fitting that she turned out to be a longtime soap actress. I'm glad she at least got some more work. The P&G-related soaps seemed to help her out. It's too bad that Winsor's last soap experience wasn't happier. I do kind of see their point, I guess. I wonder if being more outspoken about Scripture might have helped them get a few more viewers, since they didn't do it in a way which would alienate a secular viewer.
  15. Thanks. Well apparently he doesn't mind popular shows too much if he goes around half-naked on one of the UK's main hits. I forgot to mention how much I enjoyed that scene with Sam gulping the champagne glasses one by one. And then they played "She's a Lady" for Peggy, the song used for her promos. Her obliviousness towards Janine, and Janine getting so annoyed, was fun. Charlie Brooks did a good job in those scenes where she confessed to Ryan although I still think there's something missing with Janine. I did like that stuff though, and how Janine is being better integrated into the Butcher family. Instead of what it was under Santer, which was often Bianca and the kids, Pat trailing behind them, Janine on the outside always screwing up, the lines are more blurred now. I think they should have had Billy opening the door as the cliffhanger. I thought Perry Fenwick was great at showing Billy's confusion and his fear. I also wonder how much of this was borne out of his letting Jase Dyer die. I wish they did better by Billy, as Perry is so underrated.
  16. Oh that's awful. Steve McFadden is doing such an unbelievable job with this story. The tremors are what get me the most. Never thought I'd see stuff like that on a soap. That scene where Peggy raged at Phil after she found out about the phone calls was just fantastic work from Windsor. Y&RWT that's funny about the Muppet and Pat. She reminds me of Mokey Fraggle. Another day of Stax. They should have put them back together. And Max was wearing jeans. I have a hard time believing Jean would be so flippant about Stacey being off her meds, unless she was just being defensive or something. Poor Dot is so alone. I thought the guy Janine went home with was kind of hot. Surprised they showed him in such tight underwear that he was...barely able to fit into. Has that actor been on anything else? I know it won't last but I'm glad Shirley isn't letting Phil get to her. Looks like they cut some stuff out involving Ryan's mother Debra. From last Friday's Digital Spy summary.
  17. Apparently Goldie was also on Eastenders. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angel_Hudson#Angel_Hudson
  18. I think it's a horrible decision to kill him off. He was often a comic character and could have had a happy ending. Once upon a time Corrie was willing to let characters leave happily. Would so many people have wanted to see Hilda Ogden dying?
  19. More misery for Corrie http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1309514/Ta-ra-Jack-Coronation-Street-cast-film-emotional-Jack-Duckworth-funeral-scenes-ahead-Bill-Tarmeys-departure.html?ito=feeds-newsxml
  20. I guess if the speculation about Sam Womack being pregnant in real life is true they might both go away together for a while? Geez these pictures are so unflattering -- they remind me of that Torchwood episode about the 1920s killers. http://www.bbc.co.uk/strictlycomedancing/2010/dancers/ Scott and Kara don't look too bad though.
  21. I think on the show they pronounced it I-Own.
  22. I wonder if some of those were supposed to represent generic conflicts. The running woman is like a cross between Donna Reed and Joan Crawford. I didn't know they did McCarthy flashbacks.
  23. I think I remember a clip where Nancy tried to hypnotize Ione and Ione brushed her off like a gnat. And then Nancy was giving all her money to a pyramid scheme and not paying Ione more money for upkeep. I wonder if this was the first soap to mention Alzheimers.
  24. Finally found about this ad, long after anyone cares, most likely. It's from the May 11, 1982 SOD. Network Publishing Co
