  1. A day at GL, from 11/75 TV Dawn to Dusk (Ideal Publishing Corp.). Some of the pages were missing, but I hope some is better than none.

  3. http://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/s13/hollyoaks/news/a272684/hollyoaks-announces-shock-fire-plot.html My guess is this will probably kill off Dom, at the very least, and perhaps Amy.
  4. Finally watched Friday's episode. Stacey's pain was so raw and unbearable. While I know some feel that Becca's exit was an anticlimax, The acting from everyone involved was just fantastic -- Simone James was at her best, Lacey Turner was great, Gillian Wright was unbelievable. These characters, after some ridiculous story stunts, still seem real. While the shakeycam was a bit distracting, the image of Stacey cowering and covered in Bradley's ashes was harrowing. It was so soapy yet they pulled it off. I really enjoyed the scenes with Roxy and Ronnie laughing about Sam's baby. Finally after three years I can appreciate their relationship. And going to see Sam, then Ronnie helping Sam with the baby, was the bonding and the family unit which was so important. Peggy has gone around the bend. She is so determined to control and control and has gotten so wrapped up in her own delusions and doesn't seem to have any idea what it is going to do to her. Barbara Windsor did a great job. I also liked the scene where, after the whole pep talk, Pat actually looked a bit scared to see the baby in the Vic -- I think she must have known what Peggy had to promise. That scene with Phil and Peggy got so ugly and I kind of loved it. Ha ha, loved Carol trashing Sam for not knowing who her baby's father is. Have you heard that
  5. Did they know Judi was leaving when Vincent left? If so they should have had them leave town together. I can understand, on some level, why Lujack had to die, and this did give Alex some story, and brought in Simon, who seems kind of odd to me but did work well with Beverlee McKinsey (I don't really care much about the Jessie/Simon stuff and Jessie/Simon/India would have to be one of the more bizarre triangles). What I don't understand is why Beth was killed. They wasted her in Judi's last months didn't they? Wasn't she just a model or beauty pageant winner or something? Then she just was blown up or something. Why not just have her leave town to use the Lujack foundation money to help those in need? It's not like she and Phillip were together at this time. Then they could have recast in time. Why kill her off? The whole show seems so odd at this time. They had so many great characters yet didn't know what to do with them, so you would have someone like India playing second fiddle to Jessie or a lot of characters playing second fiddle to that dull Christine Valere. So Irizarry quit because of tension with Gail Kobe (because he'd wanted to do a movie), right? What a waste. He might have stayed with GL if they'd been more supportive. Lujack seems like a great character. Right place right time. By the time he returned as Nick the show had changed and the character was just awful and seriously damaged Mindy and Alex to the point where both characters were basically destroyed. From the little I've seen of Jeff Ryder's time as headwriter I'm not all that impressed but I do LOVE these scenes with Alex and Simon. This is the Alex who was so special. And they even had an extra scene over the credits! I never knew GL did that.
  6. It's the same actor. I think Ricky's always been kind of cute. Daniella looks different because she destroyed her face through cocaine abuse.
  7. http://www.how-do.co.uk/north-west-media-news/north-west-broadcasting/itv-to-recruit-talent-pool-from-the-public-to-feed-into-coronation-street-plots-201009038996/
  8. There are two new episodes of Freshers up. The stuff with Lee and Leanne or Joanne or whoever is kind of dull and stupid -- he's fine but she is kind of annoying. I also hate her hair. It's nice to see Bombhead again though -- Lee calls him again in the fourth episode. The stuff with Tex seems like filler. I mostly just pass the time thinking how she reminds me of Louise and wondering if the guy she is with, the "rock star," will get naked. As I suspected in the promo, Dave DOES get naked, and, as you can already tell by the way he wears jeans, he has a nice a$$. This is more entertaining than the arrival of Viv, a hitchhiker who is billed as "hot" but reminds me of a British Christine Lahti. Also more interludes with the annoying American (still not sure if that's his real accent) and Charlotte and Jamile. I like Jamile, I hope he will be a decent character when he's on the regular show. I also like how Charlotte looks out for him. Charlotte is a great character.
  9. It's great to hear from some fans of the show. I keep meaning to watch more of what is on Youtube. I agree that the characters, some of them at least, seem more real.
  10. That's one of my favorites from Rumours. Another: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCgIZDIOQzE
  11. Yeah it's a shame they won't get to see each other. Alfie won't have a lot of strong connections on his return and thanks to other botched returns, and a general sense of malaise or resentment some fans might be feeling lately if DS is any indication, it will be tough to get a good return. I hope they can work it out.
  12. No. Just that she is disturbed and latched onto Stacey while they were both in the institution.
  13. Thanks for reading it! From the March 2, 1982 SOD. Network Publishing Corporation.
  14. It seems like Blyth only tells stories where Carl destroys women. He ruined Lexi's life, then Chas, now Eve. It's unsettling as it reminds me of the way that men on American soaps are written. What probably bothers me most is that Chas and Carl were a great couple and a lot of fans had waited a long time for them to get back together. Yet now it would seem she was just another of Carl's conquests.
  15. She does, you're right. I guess she is the anti-Sammy Winward... So what do you think of the show at the moment? I am kind of behind. I have mostly been keeping up with some of the Lamb/Wylde stuff, and seeing if Ryan is going to change, as they said he would. So far he seems about the same but that may not last.
  16. Poor Carol! The scene where she looked in the mirror and said she was a daft cow was sad. I hope he had a good reason. I loved her comment to Pat and seeing her having more support for Bianca. Having Bianca and Ronnie both try to react to the news rationally was a very good writing choice. If they melt down it will be later, once the situation builds up. The story works better as comedy but the scene where Ricky held the baby, then gave him to Jack, was great -- summing up the story with few words. Peggy got on my nerves but then that's Peggy, how she would react. The scenes with Pat and Janine were perfect. That is their relationship to a tee, especially when Pat basically told Janine she knew how they felt about each other. And Janine struggling to invite Pat without giving away her fears or defenses. Jay is going to be taller than a lot of the guys on the show soon. Grace Dent column. The most interesting part is the illustration, it reminds me of the old Alex Schwartz books. http://www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-radio/2010/aug/28/grace-dent-phil-mitchell-crack
  17. That was what I thought too but didn't want to say it You always hear about those actors who get involved with their love interests over and over but I was never sure if they existed until now.
  18. James Sutton really seems to believe in Method acting. Good for her though... http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/tv/soaps/3123038/James-Sutton-snogs-Catherine-Tyldesley-aka-prison-officer-Abi-Peterson.html
  19. From the 12/21/82 SOD: Love'n Libido In The Afternoon by Dr. Kenneth Haun Dear Dr. Haun: Please explain to me Kimberly Harris' absolutely rotten behavior on "Ryan's Hope." She has blackmailed her mother, cheated on her husband and even kidnapped her own daughter! Now she is lying to Hollis Kirkland. Can't she see the consequences of her behavior? Every now and then any therapist may be confronted with a person like Kim - and it is an unnerving experience. We know that people's feelings and behavior are to a large extent determined by childhood experiences. For most people their conflicts and problems in maturity can often be resolved by consideration and working through those early influences. But then comes a Kimberly. No doubt she suffered from rejection by Rae as a child. No doubt her ignorance about her father was hurtful. But on the other hand many people endure worse problems - certainly she did not suffer from poverty or neglect. She also had the reliable support of her grandmother. The hallmarks of Kim's problem are her inability to learn from experience and her total self-involvement. She will sacrifice anything and anybody (including her daughter) to obtain what she feels is justifiable revenge and her birthright - never mind caring, reasonableness, love. Such people are called "psychopaths." In older, less-sophisticated times they would have been called just plain evil. Calling them by a technical name doesn't change their essential meanness or selfishness. I'm glad she is not a patient of mine. Nobody likes to have to deal with a hopeless, obnoxious person - no matter what training he or she has had! Kim will never improve or learn (unless the greater gods of her destiny, the writers, pull off a miracle!) Watch out for the Kims in the world, Mr. C.M.! There are many, male and female - about. All they will ever do for you - as Rae perceives - is harm!
  20. By the time I started watching OLTL Alex had kind of lost most of her spirit as a character (which even Tonja complained about when she left), but when I got to see the first go-round with Alex and Carlo I loved it, and I still can't believe some of those scenes made it to air! VickRobCal and Phillyvideofan also put up some earlier glimpses of her, when she was just the agent, when she was Bo's "nice" girlfriend, and when she went nuts, and I love all that too. Honestly I feel like Tonja plays crazy so well, even better than comedy. I'm glad you got to see all that stuff. Maybe someday you'll find it again.
  21. Sorry about that! It's like when a parent throws away their child's comics while they're gone because hey it's just junk. No harm is meant obviously but that can cause years of therapy bills
  22. Don't hold back! I still don't know how to spell Steve Kaslo/Kazlo on SFT, because of the soap magazines and what other things say. Don't you think Tonja looks very striking in that photo. I think she looks much softer in black and white. She reminds me of Loretta Young or a young Joan Crawford.
