There's definitely been a noticeable lack of edge on AMC since the NY/LA move. We got bitchy, snarky Annie and we get some shirtlessness every now and then, but not a whole lot. I wonder how much of that has to do with David and Donna. They're P&G people, and those shows were always more conservative than the ABC soaps. GL was probably the least sexy of all soaps (besides Y&R) in its last five to ten years.

Leave Marcie alone!! We all know KB was ready as hell to seize every opportunity OLTL gave her to sing. I wonder if they'll play that recording of We Wish You a Merry Christmas this year where all you hear is KATHYYYYYY BRIERRRRRRR (and teens). Where was Marcie when Nash died? They had Sarah write/sing some bland ass song that incorporated "one life" in its lyrics.

I would imagine that we miss a lot by just reading storyline summaries. Each of the Martins had their own storylines, but the Martins as a family wasn't a storyline, so I guess they didn't feel the need to recap the more family-based stuff. I find that with a lot of 60s and 70s stuff, story recaps don't really give you the full experience of actually watching the show because those recaps were written mostly as a way to let people know the major story movements.

Who were all the ghosts who ushered Gillian into heaven? This was were months after I started watching, so alllll of those people were strangers to me, but Jesse was the main one who kinda took Gillian under his wing. Ugh. I hate back from the dead when it's obvious that the character is supposed to be really really dead. If Dixie were to come from the dead, you can sort of rationalize it by saying all of the ghost appearances were just figments of JR and Tad's imaginations. But what about Gillian meeting Jesse in heaven? Gillian was dead, she ain't had no imagination, and even if she did, she had absolutely no clue who Jesse was because she'd never met him or Angie, and he'd been "dead" nearly ten years before she even came to Pine Valley. I'm just eternally grateful AMC's never had one of those stupid cartoonish "supervillains" who come back thanks to special powers, secret weapons, and mad scientists.

I wouldn't mind if Greg came back to Pine Valley with a new wife, to be honest. I love Greg and Jenny, but it's been nearly 30 years. To have everything he does on the show defined by the time he spent with her would just be sad and depressing, IMO (which is why I'm not a fan of ghost Dixie's appearances, even though that's substantially different because of the kids and it's more recent). Of course, I'm not saying completely ignore Jenny, but let that be a nice moment between Greg and Angie. "Sometimes I wonder how you got so lucky...you got Jesse back, and..." "And you're still waiting for Jenny." "Yeah. I love Trish, and I want to spend the rest of my life with her, but I can't help but wonder sometimes." Pause a few moments as they soak up the nighttime atmosphere (I almost said "as they stare into the sky," but...Angie). Angie: "She's happy for you, Greg." "I know. I know." One or two more moments, they hug, end scene.

Okay, I'm trying to compile a list of all of the half-hour episodes that survived the barbaric practice of destruction. So far, I have: 1. February 1970 (#23) - Amy has a nightmare. 2. March 1970 (#41) - Ruth and Joe discuss Phil and Tara. 3. March 1970 - Erica worries about her father's absence. 4. April 1970 - Amy reveals Phil's true parentage to Nick. 5. 1971 - Erica announces plans to marry Jeff. 6. Five episodes from March and April 1971 7. Five episodes from March and April 1973 8. A partial episode from 1974 Also, in the 20th anniversary special, there are some B/W kinescope clips that weren't taken from any of the above (except maybe the March and April 1971 episodes): 1. Phil and Tara kiss. 2. Amy and Ruth argue about Ruth's marriage to Ted. 3. Erica explains why she's more mature than Tara. 4. Phil asks Nick about his high school and Navy days. 5. Chuck and Tara's wedding (including Tara/Kate, Phil/Ruth, and Nick stopping the wedding). I wonder if Chuck and Tara were married in one of those early '71 episodes...

I guess Angie promising to make shrimp gumbo for Frankie last year was her flaunting her blackness too. "Blackness" makes me laugh because Ebony magazine always used that word when describing Carla from OLTL in the 70s. "She passed for White then embraced her Blackness." It makes it sound like a disease.

Joey's singing voice in the Beauty Pageant episode annoys the crap out of me. Joey, in general, annoys me.

I had a feeling that maternity leave came at a very convenient time for Patsy. It would weird seeing her surrounded by Americans.

Don't get my mental typewriter going with that idea, Carl! Erica Kane and bisexual brother Mark would have been quite a pair! They would have torn that town up. I wonder if/how Erica would be different today if she had a close friend/confidante through the years instead of always being such an antagonist. Mark always had her back, but that was more family that friendship. I think I know the one you mean. I've seen the upbeat version, with the kettle drums and brass fanfare going on, signifying that those folks were ABC Daytime royalty (of course no one there to represent for The City!).
