  1. No. Jeremy doesn't even exist in the books. Book!Elena has a little sister named Margaret who is much, much younger, like elementary school/middle school age.
  2. I hate Katherine so much, just based on the 1800s clips (greedy bitch!) and all that she's set into motion. Really, when it all boils down, she's the reason why all this crap is going on. I hated Anna before we learned she was a vampire, then I liked her last week, but now I'm not much of a fan anymore. I liked her better when she was raising hell with the other vamps. Poor Jeremy Always failing at love. If he would just go to Tyler... Elena falling for Damon would be so wrong on so many levels. After all he's done, and all Stefan's done for her, it's beyond me why she would ever even want Damon. Yes, he's incredibly hot and charming, but Stefan is all that and he hasn't murdered innocent people. The CW needs a whooping for putting the show on another month-and-a-half break.
  3. Kindred is definitely one of Aaron's shows.
  4. I guess that kinda makes sense. A much, much more specific focus (Degrassi has that large cast and has always utilized it so well) that gives it a structure centralized around the Amy character. If you want a show where almost all of the storylines are strongly connected to all of the other storylines, then Secret Life is for you. LOL I don't see you enjoying it. It's the cheesiest of cheesy teen soaps and is very much written for a pre-teen audience.
  5. Absolutely. It is Brenda Hampton, after all. I enjoy it for what it is when I sit down to watch it (which is rare), but I have a lotta problems with that show. Lots of problems. It's hard to explain...it's an odd, odd show. It's like Ms. Hampton created this bizarro world where a 15-year-old boy will want to be with a girl who is pregnant for another guy, and that's only part of it.
  6. Ann Marcus wrote for a slew of daytime shows (off the top of my head...Search, GH, LIAMST) and also did some soapy primetime/syndication fare. She was one of the main forces behind Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, credited as a creator. I read that Norman Lear wanted her specifically because he wanted at least one actual daytime writer on staff. She worked on his other Fernwood-based shows as well and wrote scripts for Flamingo Road, Knots Landing, and Falcon Crest. ETA: Her late husband Ellis was also a writer, but he stuck to primetime. He did work with her on Flamingo, Knots, and Falcon, though.
  7. The Vampire Diaries is fantabulous. Favorite new show since Friday Night Lights, and definitely my fave on network TV. And its ratings are awesome, too (for The CW). As far as what are soaps and what aren't soaps, I think the media (and maybe fans?) uses one of two definitions to describe something soapy: 1 is all about the melodrama, "OMG she slept with her husband's uncle's mother's son's nephew's brother!!" stuff, and 2 is simply that it's serialized. I've seen 24 called a soap based simply on its serialized nature, yet there are two-hour movies (Sirk! Curtiz!) that are called soaps, and they're not serialized. It really begs the question...what is a soap? Is it one of those, both, or neither one? See, to me, Little House on the Prairie is pure soap. Like, 99 and 44/100 percent. It wasn't really serialized (though there were always long-term plot points), but to deny it of a soapy label would be like spitting on the grave of Landon himself. He worked really, really hard to make sure the people of Walnut Grove had really horrible lives. And, really, that's what soaps are all about.
  8. Wow. The thought of all of this stuff...sitting around, collecting dust...it sucks that 20th Century Fox would probably object to your posting of those episodes. They obviously have no plans for them. PS: Pleasantly surprised to find your new Storm and Search episodes. As soon as the Super Bowl goes off, I'm watching 'em!
  9. The weird scientist chick from Hidden Palms is now the main character on Life UneXpected, no? Or maybe she was on another random short-lived summer replacement from the last couple of years. She wasn't on Summerland, was she?
  10. Hidden Palms Taylor mothereffing Handley and Michael BS'n Cassidy. I could watch them hoYay each other all day.
  11. Okay, now I see that Reg Watson wrote Dangerous Women. I had no idea that they copied some of the original Prisoner storylines, like Lynn Warner's. Should we discuss Prisoner here? Because it's technically a primetime soap, but I figure it'd be more at home in its own thread on the Foreign Soaps board. And now that I know that I'm not the only one who's a fan, I am SO ready to discuss. When I tell you that I am obsessed, I seriously mean obsessed. I knew they had me hooked for life the second I saw Franky and Doreen dressed up as nuns.
  12. Oh lord...now I have to watch this. I don't expect it to be anything like Prisoner is so far (I'm only up to episode 15...will be trying to get #16 in very soon), but I'm interested. Prisoner, though, is epic. Crazy, crazy bitches, and I love each and every one of them. If James Mitchell were still with us, Vinegar Tits would still be my avatar.
  13. I just found this full-length version of the late 70s theme song. WoST had a much shorter version that faded out, but this is the whole thing, and good lord, it's so 70s: http://www.tvpmm.com/documents/453.html Click on "Main Theme v2" in the player.
  14. On one of the YouTube episodes, I want to say one of the late 1987 episodes, there's a scene with Nina and the music is definitely Pino Donaggio's theme from "Carrie." I got a huge kick out of that because when I hear that song, I'm used to seeing teenage girls frolicking around in the nude!
  15. Oh, now that is just too much. This show is brimming with eye candy as it is, but to add him and the dude who played "Big Wolf on Campus" in the 90s? Really, show? Damn it. The show is fabulous, BTW. I wish there were more fans on SON that I could discuss with
  16. OMG Ben Price is nuNicky!? I NEED TO FIND A WAY TO WATCH DAMNIT
  17. The AA scene was an instant classic. I wish that clip would have included the part where Ken's walking down the stairs, and Blanche is just sitting there on one of those motorized chairs that go up and down the stair railing. The look on her face was too much.
  18. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OMG! I LOVED Blanche. One of my favorite characters on the show! I can't believe it! I kept coming back to this thread to see any updates about her, but I figured she was fine because I wasn't hearing anything. This really saddens me
  19. I miss Steve I started watching some of hfxmusicman's TEX videos on YouTube, and I love it so far. I was hoping to discuss it with Steve whenever he got back, but... I'm watching the Endless Passion strand of videos...didn't realize that there's a whopping 400+ videos in the series, but I plan to watch them all, no matter how long it takes. I'm only on 12 so far, and here are some brief thoughts: 1. Lisby Larson and Queen Bev are FABULOUS together. They go toe-to-toe with each other, with neither one of them backing down to let the other take command of the scene. Perfect rivalry chemistry. In a way, Paige and Alex are very similar, and that's what they don't like about each other. 2. Billy Joe is annoying as hell, and the actor who plays him tries entirely too hard to do the whole "This is TEXAS!" routine. The Dennis actor isn't all that great either, but he's all right. 3. Vivien is awesome! I love her dull, dry delivery. 4. Randy Hamilton as Rikki Dekker 6. Question: Will Reena play a major part in the Endless Passion videos? Because she's the TX character I've heard the most about, but I haven't seen much of her yet.
  20. Gosh, I need to catch up on last week's episode and this week's as well it seems. Too busy with school work to devote my full attention to the show in its regular timeslot. Looks like I'm destined to only watch it online on Saturday mornings! But anyway, judging from the bits and pieces I've seen of tonight's show so far: "Coming out" to Elena was the BEST thing that could EVER happen to Stefan. He's so bubbly and full of life now, and I flove it. PW's acting has improved tenfold now that he's not having to play a depressed, mopey vampire. The character's showing all kinds of personality now, and I think the show is gonna benefit from that. I also like his friend who shows up in tonight's episode. Loved her sticking a straw in the blood like she was sucking on a Capri Sun pouch. Her friendship with Stefan is something that the show needed for sure, and I hope she sticks around. She's almost like the type of character I envisioned for the show a few episodes ago.
  21. This show is fabulous, and I love every single second of it. I didn't like Stefan in the pilot, but from episode 2 on, I've been loving him. Damon is all kinds of mean awesomeness. Isn't the show shot in Georgia? The end credits on the CWTV.com episodes have a big old peach in them with "Shot on location in Georgia" above it. And plus, wasn't like...half of the cast arrested for flashing their tits in Georgia a few months ago? And CO-SIGN to the WTF casting of Jasmine Guy as Bonnie's grandmother. It's almost as bad as the fact that the actress who plays Elena and Jeremy's aunt is young enough to be one of their classmates. I get that she's supposed to be "young," but damn...Vicky and Matt look older than her.
  22. I had no idea. I love, love, love my Blanche, and if something were to happen to MJ, I'd be very upset. I wish ITV and the others would just pony the eff up and let the whole world watch their soaps online.
  23. It seems Granada has pulled the plug on FullEps' channel at YouTube for now. Most of the episodes already posted are still there, but last Friday's won't show up and he hasn't put up any of this week's episodes. Sucks. Guess I'll have to check out EastEnders...
  24. I like Antony Cotton, but yeah, Sean is pretty annoying and sorta boring. I've been reading that my darling Bruno would love to return to Corrie, and I wish they'd bring him back. I'd love for him to come back with a spicy American boyfriend who doesn't take any crap from anyone on the Street. I just want Todd back full-time. Rickitt can stay on Shortland Street. He wasn't irreplaceable at all, and I'm sure there are some good young actors in the UK who could do wonders with the role of Nick. Where are they going with this Ramsay/Norris/Emily/Rita thing? Something is telling me that Ramsay won't be around much longer, and that his departure won't be very pleasant.
  25. I read about Nicky coming back, but didn't know if it was a rumor or not. Adam Rickitt's in NZ doing Shortland Street, isn't he? I'm surprised that they're gonna recast. I finally got to see Peter's AA meeting from last week with Ken, Deirdre, and Blanche, and damn! Blanche had me rolling. When she accused the one lady of having halitosis, that was it. And then when Deirdre stormed out and Ken went after her, he walked down the stairs as Blanche just rode the stair lift. Too funny! I like Ashley and Claire's story, but please, no more sobby bedside scenes. Steven Arnold just ain't got it in him. Sean is a hot mess for trying to snag that guy at the gym, and the guy was 100% right when he called Sean camp. He's been pretty camp since day one, especially when compared to brooding Todd. Fiz/John = Zzzzzz. I've been loving Betty's appearances lately. The scenes from about two weeks ago with her at the Rover's with Ashley, Lloyd, and Peter were great fun.
