Although the 2025-2026 television season doesn’t officially kick off until Monday, September 22, according to Nielsen’s calendar, for marketing purposes, ABC launched new seasons of both “The View” (Season 29) and “General Hospital” (Season 63) on Monday, September 8. During the week of September 8-12, 2025, all-new broadcasts of “The View” were up +0.03 compared to the same week last year among Women 18-49 (0.22 rating vs. 0.19 rating) and up +0.05 year-over-year among Women 25-54 (0.33 rating vs. 0.28 rating), a marked improvement compared to the second full week of Season 28. The veteran chat fest averaged 2.281 million viewers, up +6,000 year-over-year. The show is already off to a great start with its best performance during its season premiere week since the start of Season 25 in 2021. “General Hospital” saw week-to-week gains among Women 18-49, up +0.02 (0.19 rating vs. 0.17 rating), and among Women 25-54, up +0.04 (0.31 rating vs. 0.27 rating). The long-running soap opera attracted its largest overall audience in six weeks with 2.000 million viewers tuning in, marking just the third time since at least February 2025 that the series crossed the two million viewer mark. Additionally, the show was up +116,000 viewers week-to-week and up +168,000 compared to the same week last year. Also at ABC, “GMA3” had the largest week-to-week gain across daytime broadcast, up +0.04 among Women 18-49 (0.14 rating vs. 0.10 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.20 rating vs. 0.16 rating), and saw both week-to-week and year-over-year gains among Total Viewers, up +159,000 and +62,000, respectively. The news program averaged 1.289 million viewers, its best performance in nine weeks (since the week of July 7-11, 2025). “Beyond the Gates,” “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “The Young and the Restless” CBS “The Young and the Restless” saw week-to-week gains among Women 18-49, up +0.01 (0.20 rating vs. 0.19 rating), and among Women 25-54, up +0.02 (0.39 rating vs. 0.37 rating). The CBS soap opera averaged 2.900 million viewers, up +38,000 week-to-week. Although the series saw an uptick of +1,000 viewers compared to its week ago performance among Total Viewers, overall “The Bold and the Beautiful” had a depressing week with just 2.467 million viewers tuning in, although still far and away much higher than the bulk of shows airing across daytime broadcast. With its 0.18 rating among Women 18-49 and 0.34 rating among Women 25-54, the half-hour soap saw the largest year-over-year decline in the key sales demos, down -0.09 among Women 18-49 (0.18 rating vs. 0.27 rating) and down -0.07 among Women 25-54 (0.34 rating vs. 0.41 rating). Other daytime broadcast shows experiencing week-to-week and year-over-year declines in the demos include repeats of both half-hours of “The Price is Right,” “TODAY 3rd Hour” and “NBC News Daily.” Although “TODAY with Jenna & Friends” was down week-to-week and year-over-year among Women 18-49, the fourth hour of the “TODAY” brand was flat week-to-week among Women 25-54, but down year-over-year. While “Beyond the Gates” came back to original episodes with its most-watched week in 12 weeks (since the week of June 23-27, 2025) with 1.562 million viewers, the show tied its series low among Women 18-49 (0.16 rating) and set a new low among Women 25-54 (0.26 rating). Compared to the same week last year, when original episodes of “The Talk” returned for its 15th and final season, “Beyond the Gates” had +331,000 more viewers tuning in during its time slot in 2025 vs. “The Talk” in 2024 (1.562 million vs. 1.231 million), and was up +0.02 among Women 25-54 (0.26 rating vs. 0.24 rating). “One Life to Live” legend Erika Slezak officially arrived in Port Charles last week, taping her first scenes as a yet-to-be-revealed character on “General Hospital.” According to an update by her official fan club on Sunday, Slezak’s first week went well, and she felt “warmly welcomed” by the cast and crew at Prospect Studios in Hollywood, where the daytime drama series tapes. “Everyone at ‘GH’ is so wonderfully kind and helpful, and by now I know my way around the studio a bit,” commented Slezak, talking about her experience. Further, she has already reunited with several people she knew from her days working in New York, which the fan club notes “has made her feel comfortable and at ease” in her new working environment. Although an air date for Slezak has remained unknown up to this point, the fan club shares, “the past week has been quite busy,” and Slezak anticipates an even busier week ahead. “Her evenings consist of learning lines for the following day! No worries. I think, for me, the better example for a soap crossover done well was the baby switch storyline on All My Children and One Life to Live. Of the two soaps, things were told better on the AMC side, which is where it was most favored, but all the characters got perspective, and the story had a long-lasting impact on the show where I still remember what happened for most of it even 20+ years later. If CBS could do something similar with Beyond the Gates and either The Bold and the Beautiful or The Young and the Restless, I'd be all over it. One-off appearances are fine for now, though.

You might get your wish as Tracey Bregman and Christian Le Blanc will be in Atlanta next week for a CBS press event, alongside other talent from Paramount and CBS daytime shows. Bryton was in Atlanta in May for Family Feud, so it's not like they can't make it happen.

Hopefully, no one. That was a disastrous decision by ABC back in the day. It ruined the legacies of the Chandlers on All My Children and the Quartermaines on General Hospital. Skye Chandler, in particular, as a character, was ruined the most, just for an experiment. Clearly, there is no long-lasting impact like, say, Jason Morgan getting brain damage from that car accident in 1996 on GH had. Of course, this is all just my opinion.

Marco's sexuality is secondary to his career and family connection, at least that's how I see GH telling his story. I prefer it that way as who you have sex with should not define you. B&B, however, is starting the story off with Remy all of a sudden being gay, with no indication of this in the nearly one year he's been there. At least if we got a story beat from him during his stalking/attempted murder of Electra phase, this twist/casting would make more sense.

I presume Remy's psycho behavior will be blamed on his needing to hide his sexuality because he was afraid of what his family/friends would think of him. Trope. Trope. Trope. This is B&B!

“The Bold and the Beautiful” has cast daytime newcomer Harrison Cone to play opposite Christian Weissmann, who plays Remy Pryce, in what is being billed as the half-hour soap opera’s first gay couple. According to Deadline, which first reported Cone’s casting, the actor will make his debut on the Tuesday, September 16 episode of the series as an aspiring designer who’s in a relationship with Remy. Further, the gay male couple will also share an on-screen kiss, marking yet another first for the 38-year-old show. Details on the name of the character that Cone will be portraying are currently being kept under wraps, as it’s understood he has close ties to another major character on the show, meaning he could be deeply connected to the Logans, Spencers, or even the Forresters themselves. The romance between Cone’s mystery character and Weissmann’s Remy comes as a surprise to fans of the series, as, up until recently, Remy seemingly had a romantic interest in Electra Forrester (Laneya Grace). Of course, it was later revealed that he was her stalker who also created deepfake photos and nearly killed her in the process, but that's a soap opera for you. For reference, Electra is the grandniece of Eric Forrester (John McCook). “Remy’s queer and we all cheered,” Weissmann said in a post on his Instagram stories timeline soon after the news of Cone’s casting was announced. I'm wondering if this is what's going to happen. Stations don't just do things like this, particularly in daytime, unless there might be a longer plan in mind. Yes, stronger lead-in support for their local news, but why now? It's been 11 years since seven of the eight ABC Owned Television Stations did this, so why did these three start jumping on the bandwagon, particularly as they are each owned by Hearst Television? Hope there is a plan.

“General Hospital” was preempted in several major markets on Wednesday, September 10 due to breaking news coverage on the shooting death of conservative advocate Charlie Kirk. As a result, the daytime drama series will air overnight (Thursday, September 11) in the impacted markets, particularly New York, Chicago and Philadelphia, among others. According to Nathan Varni, who serves as Executive Director Drama Programming, ABC and Hulu, with oversight over “General Hospital” and “Grey’s Anatomy,” among others, today’s episode of the long-running soap opera will be available to watch for free without a TV carrier on the show’s official website. During the week of September 1-5, 2025, the bulk of daytime broadcast included the Labor Day holiday (Monday, September 1) in their weekly average, except for programming on ABC, which aired repeats of “General Hospital” and “The View,” each of which was coded as a special. Ironically, “GMA3,” which aired an amended telecast on the holiday, saw one of its highest-rated broadcasts of the season among Women 18-49 and Women 25-54. However, the performance didn’t count towards the show’s weekly or season average. For the week, repeats of “Let’s Make a Deal” saw the second half-hour attract its largest audience in 25 weeks (since the week of March 3-7, 2025), with 2.336 million viewers tuning in. Meanwhile, the first half-hour of the game show marked its best performance among Total Viewers in 19 weeks (since the week of April 21-25, 2025), with 1.931 million. The Wayne Brady-hosted game show was up +215,000 viewers week-to-week for its second half-hour and up +133,000 viewers for its first half-hour. “The Price is Right” also performed well while airing repeats, with the second half-hour averaging 4.074 million viewers, its best performance in 20 weeks (since the week of April 14-18, 2025). The first half-hour averaged 3.475 million viewers, its best in five weeks. As it prepares to close out the 2024-2025 television season, both half hours of the long-running game show remained the most-watched and highest-rated across daytime broadcast. Compared to its performance one week earlier, the second half-hour was up +305,000 viewers. The first half-hour was up +193,000. With 2.466 million viewers tuned in, “The Bold and the Beautiful” faltered a bit compared to its performance one week earlier among Total Viewers, down -36,000 week-to-week and dropping a whopping -230,000 viewers year-over-year. That said, the half-hour soap was the highest-rated scripted series among Women 18-49, flat week-to-week with a 0.21 rating, topping “The Young and the Restless,” which set a new season low with a 0.19 rating in the key sales demographic. Among Women 25-54 and Total Viewers, “The Young and the Restless” saw a minor week-to-week increase, up +0.01 in the demo (0.37 rating vs. 0.36 rating), and up +31,000 viewers. Compared to the same week last year, the long-running soap opera saw a mere +4,000 viewer increase among Total Viewers. “The Bold and the Beautiful” star Jacqueline MacInnes Wood is officially back on set, taping her first scenes as Steffy Forrester at the show’s new home at Sunset Las Palmas Studios in Hollywood on Tuesday, September 9. “Excited to have Jacqueline MacInnes Wood back on set and taping her first scenes at our new studio!” stated the show’s supervising producer Casey Kasprzyk in a post on X (formerly Twitter) as he shared the first picture of the actress in posing alongside co-star Tanner Novlan (John “Finn” Finnegan), as well as Sophia Parras McKinley, who portrays Steffy’s daughter, Kelly Spencer, whom she had with Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton), and Bryan David Garlick, who plays Hayes Finnegan, Steffy and Finn’s son. Kasprzyk shared a similar message on his Instagram stories timeline. Wood went on maternity leave this summer, after announcing in March that she was pregnant with her fifth child with husband Elan Ruspoli. Although the sex was not announced at the time, and at press time remains a mystery after she previously birthed four boys, the actress revealed the news of her pregnancy in her newsletter. “I’m almost 7 months pregnant! Our family is beyond excited, and my kids are over the moon,” said Wood at the time. “It’s such a special time in our home—so much love, energy, and anticipation!” In August 2023, the couple welcomed their fourth child, a boy they named Valor James, who joined older brothers Rise (born March 2019), Lenix (born February 2021) and Brando (born May 2022). “Continuing to work out—so grateful I focused on building strength before pregnancy! It’s made carrying my kids and performing emotional scenes much easier,” Wood wrote in a post at the time, highlighting previous methods she’s used to prepare her for the milestone events.
