  1. Days of our Lives March 2026 Spoilers
  2. Maurice Benard is celebrating his 63rd birthday on Sunday, March 1, and in a special episode of “State of Mind with Maurice Benard,” releasing the same day, will feature appearances by his “General Hospital” co-stars Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri) and Lisa LoCicero (Olivia Quartermaine). Look for Zamprogna to turn the tables on Benard by interviewing him, while LoCicero will join the duo for a fun skit later in the episode. In an exclusive clip provided to Soap Opera Network ahead of the episode’s release, Benard reflects on how the industry can make actors feel like they’re “not enough” and how that mindset followed him for years. “If we go back to ego, I figured out with all my anxiety and everything that I go through that it truly had to do with ego,” said Benard, admitting the realization came later than he would have liked. “I’m glad, I just wish I had figured that out in my 20s and stuff.” Looking back on his younger years, Benard says his ego masked deeper struggles, noting, “Because I was so in it, the ego and the, you know, ‘Nothing can get to me, and nobody can hurt me…’ but what happens is because I didn’t recognize it early enough, as it keeps rolling as you get older, now you’re affected.” Watch our exclusive clip from the episode above/below. In addition to celebrating his birthday, the episode will also see Benard reflecting on why he believes helping others is “his purpose,” and shares the powerful idea that perhaps his struggles with bipolar disorder exist so he can reach someone else in theirs. The episode is a timely, deeply personal conversation that honors those who’ve been lost by continuing to fight the stigma. Benard has portrayed the iconic role of Sonny Corinthos on “General Hospital” for more than 30 years, making his Port Charles debut in 1993. He previously appeared as Nico Kelly from 1978-1990 on “All My Children,” making next year (2027) 40 years since making his television acting debut. Some of his other credits include playing Desi Arnaz in the TV movie “Lucy & Desi: Before the Laughter” and the film “The Ghost and the Whale,” among others. Launched in July 2020, “State of Mind with Maurice Benard” focuses on mental health and mental health awareness. The podcast is hosted by Maurice Benard, a Daytime Emmy Award-winning actor and New York Times bestselling author (“Nothing General About It: How Love (and Lithium) Saved Me On and Off General Hospital”). Following each episode’s release on YouTube, an audio-only edition is later made available to all major podcast platforms, including Spotify, Amazon Music, iHeartRadio, Apple and Google Podcasts. 3. Famous for his dance steps on “Dancing with the Stars,” Maksim Chmerkovskiy is making his microdrama debut on Friday, February 27, with the release of “Wild Silence.” The drama tells the story of Camilla (Alexandria Watts), a woman who attempts to make the ultimate life decision before she is saved by a wild, quiet man who keeps her in his remote forest cabin to teach her hard survival rules. As they face the wild and violent hunters, their intense bond is tested by his dark secrets and the choice to accept death or truly start a new life. Chmerkovskiy plays the ruggedly handsome Jack, a silent loner hiding from his past. Unsure whether he is saving her or holding her captive, Camilla struggles to escape both the forest and the emotional darkness she carries within, shattered by loss and an abusive marriage. Meanwhile, Jack is a man who withdrew from the world after his wife’s death. Forced together by chance, they learn to survive — and slowly begin to heal. As trust turns into tension and passion, Camilla finds her strength, while Jack learns to feel again. A HOLYWATER TECH IP–based series, “Wild Silence” is produced in collaboration with Alexander Kane, co-founder of Skyframe Films, and directed by Mila Pohrebynska, and can be viewed exclusively on the My Drama app beginning February 27. “We’re genuinely excited about the release of ‘Wild Silence’ and proud to welcome Maksim Chmerkovskiy to My Drama,” said Bogdan Nesvit and Anatolii Kasianov, Co-Founders and Co-CEOs of HOLYWATER TECH. “His participation sends a clear signal that established talent can start building acting careers in vertical storytelling and see it as a serious, long-term format. Projects like this help us move vertical series into the mainstream — bringing premium content to audiences where they stream the most: on their phones. We’re excited to continue building My Drama as a home for high-profile creators and ambitious new stories.” “’Wild Silence’ was an opportunity to step into a completely different kind of storytelling that is intimate, emotionally raw, and built for the way the majority of audiences are watching shows today,” said Chmerkovskiy. “This role challenged me in new ways as an actor, and I was drawn to the honesty of the story and the creative ambition behind My Drama. Vertical series are an exciting new frontier, and I’m proud to be part of a project that’s helping redefine what premium, mobile-first entertainment can be.” “It’s different from most of the verticals I’ve done,” says Watts, who previously starred in the microdramas “Frozen Hearts and Fiery Love,” “The Love War Between My CEOs,” “The Reborn Wife’s Redemption” and “Alpha King’s Mistakes.” She adds, “This one was really nice… It ends up very sweet.” Watch the trailer for “Wild Silence” below. 4. Following his shocking appearance last month as Peter August on “General Hospital,” Wes Ramsey will appear as another of his villainous soap opera characters, this time as Owen Kent on “Days of our Lives,” a role he last played more than 16 years ago. In an interview with TV Insider, Ramsey told the outlet how surreal it’s been to be back in daytime, playing the two roles, noting, “This is another glorious example of something coming up that is very unexpected.” “Being asked to reprise a role that I played 16 years ago is something I’ve never done before,” continued Ramsey. “That’s the kind of thing that can happen in daytime, and it was absolutely a wonderful experience.” “When I filmed there 10 months ago, I obviously had no idea that I would be asked to revisit a role that would happen to air weeks in advance of that reveal,” said Ramsey, referring to taping scenes at the “Days of our Lives” studio in Burbank and the tape-to-air scheduling difference between the two soaps. “It’s a great gift to be called back to do something you once did before because it means somewhere along the way, someone making creative decisions liked what you were doing enough to want to bring you back. It’s a compliment and something I don’t take for granted.” In his return to Salem on Friday, February 27, we discover Owen is the one holding Stephanie (Abigail Klein) and Jeremy (Michael Roark) captive. “Owen is a man who desperately wants to love and be loved and is lonely,” teases Ramsey of his character. Meanwhile, for how the story unfolds, fans will have to just tune in to find out. Until then, Ramsey shares he enjoyed his time working with his new co-stars, including Robert Scott Wilson (Alexander Kiriakis). “Abigail and I got along really well, and she’s wonderful, a real pro,” praised Ramsey. “We really let ourselves go there and had a ball. Robert Scott Wilson and I got to work together, too, and he’s a great guy and a wonderful actor. He and I really got to step up to the plate together and had so much fun.” While this stint is expected to be short, Ramsey does look forward to another return appearance, should it arise, saying, “I do hope there’s room for some of this to perhaps be revisited somewhere down the road.” Note: The post Wes Ramsey Back To ‘Days Of Our Lives’ As Owen Kent first appeared on Soap Opera Network. 5. They wanted someone with "star" power and name recognition. Jeremy Jackson (Hobie in the original) doesn't have that, and I think there are other reasons I won't mention.
  6. Casting for FOX’s “Baywatch” reboot is taking shape, with Stephen Amell (“Arrow”) tapped as the show’s lead, and more recently, news that David Chokachi will reprise his role as Cody Madison from the original series. According to a character description released by the network, while Cody occasionally takes on shifts wearing the famous red trunks, he now runs the Shoreline, a bar and grill that has become the unofficial hangout spot for Baywatch lifeguards. A mentor and friend, Cody not only provides a second home for his fellow lifeguards but also always offers free wings after a big save. Joining the syndicated series in Season 6, Chokachi appeared in 65 episodes before exiting in Season 9. In 2024, he took part in the docuseries “After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun,” which unpacked how the show captured the mythology of California’s beach culture, set physical beauty standards for an entire generation, and capitalized on the adage “sex sells.” The four-part docuseries was produced and directed by Matthew Felker in collaboration with ABC News Studios and featured interviews with over 35 of the show’s cast, including Nicole Eggert, Carmen Electra, Billy Warlock (“Days of our Lives,” “General Hospital”), Alexandra Paul, Gregory Alan Williams, David Chokachi, Jeremy Jackson, Traci Bingham, Erika Eleniak, Michael Newman, Michael Berk, and Douglas Schwartz, among others. For the reboot, Amell will play Hobie Buchanan, the son of legendary lifeguard Mitch Buchanan (David Hasselhoff), described as the wild child who has grown up to become a Baywatch Captain, following in his father’s footsteps. Hobie’s world is turned upside down when Charlie, the daughter he never knew, shows up on his doorstep, eager to carry on the Buchannon family legacy and become a Baywatch lifeguard alongside her dad. In the original show, the role was portrayed by Jeremy Jackson. FOX’s “Baywatch” reboot has a 12-episode series order and is set to air during the 2026-2027 television season, with Matt Nix (“Burn Notice,” “The Gifted”) serving as Showrunner and Executive Producer alongside Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Doug Schwartz, and Dante Di Loreto. The original “Baywatch” premiered in 1989, running for 11 seasons and becoming the most-watched show in the world, airing in over 200 countries and, at its peak, reaching more than a billion viewers weekly, making household names out of its stars, including Pamela Anderson. 7. Michael Roark, who made his “Days of our Lives” debut in October 2025 as Jeremy Horton, is set to exit the daytime drama series on Wednesday, April 29. While details on what leads to his exit have not been announced, fans can at least look forward to seeing his character continuing to interact with the Hortons and his ex, Abigail Johnson (Stephanie Klein), among others. Before arriving in Salem, soap fans might remember Roark for his role as Travis Crawford on “The Young and the Restless” in 2016, where he was romantically involved with Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle), whom he met after she began frequenting his bar, Hank’s Dive Bar. He later became an employee of Newman Enterprises, though the job didn’t last after several of his lies became public. Other credits for Roark include appearances in episodes of such shows as “9-1-1” and “NCIS: Los Angeles,” as well as a starring role playing Colton Donavan in the Passionflix original series “Driven,” which also featured “Days of our Lives” star Charles Shaughnessy (Shane Donovan) and alum Casey Diedrick (ex-Chad DiMera). The series ran for just three seasons and produced 16 episodes. More recently, Roark starred in the Passionflix original “The Black Dagger Brotherhood.” The six-episode series is based on the paranormal romance books by author J. R. Ward. 8. Need To Know“General Hospital” averaged more than two million viewers for the sixth time in seven weeks. NBC aired the first full week of the 2026 Winter Olympics (Milano Cortina), fully preempting “NBC News Daily.” “The Young and the Restless” ranked No. 1 among soaps in Women 18-49. NBC aired its first full week of wall-to-wall coverage of the 2026 Winter Olympics from Milano Cortina, preempting “NBC News Daily” during the week of February 9-13, 2026. “TODAY 3rd Hour” and “TODAY with Jenna & Sheinelle” were either preempted in key markets or were retitled. Despite increased competition from the Olympics, most daytime broadcast shows sustained their recent audience growth, even with minor week-to-week declines. “The View” was the only program to see ratings gains compared to the previous week, while both “Beyond the Gates” and “The Young and the Restless” posted the smallest drops among Total Viewers. Additionally, with few exceptions, most shows were up year over year among Households and Total Viewers. For the week, “The View” averaged 2.806 million viewers, up +10,000 week-to-week, +241,000 year-over-year and +611,000 over its comparable performance during the same week in 2022, when NBC broadcast the Winter Olympics from Beijing. In the key demos, the veteran talk show was flat both week-to-week and year-over-year among Women 18-49 (0.25 rating). Among Women 25-54 (0.37 rating), the program was flat week-to-week and up +0.01 year-over-year. Averaging more than three million for the third consecutive week, “The Young and the Restless” (3.333 million) was down 36,000 viewers compared with its week-ago performance, but marked significant year-over-year gains of +193,000. Compared to its performance four years earlier, the show was down just 158,000 viewers. Among Women 18-49 (0.24 rating), the soap was up +0.02 week to week, ranking as the No. 1 soap in the key demo. Meanwhile, among Women 25-54, the long-running soap opera retained its week-ago 0.41 rating. “General Hospital” (2.102 million) held up extremely well, marking the sixth time in seven weeks that the ABC daytime drama has averaged more than two million viewers while also posting year-over-year growth of +170,000. Its 2026 performance was down just 59,000 viewers over 2022. The show saw a small week-to-week uptick among Women 25-54, up +0.01, with its 0.24 rating placing it just ahead of time slot competitor “Beyond the Gates.” Speaking of “Beyond the Gates,” the soap opera saw the smallest week-to-week decline among Total Viewers, down 25,000, and was down 76,000 viewers from the year-ago average performance of two half-hour repeat broadcasts of “The Price is Right” (1.713 million vs. 1.789 million). The soap opera ranked last for the second consecutive week in Women 18-49 (0.13 rating). The show’s performance among Women 25-54 was a bit better, up +0.02 week to week to a 0.23 rating. On the positive side, the drama series was up +207,000 viewers compared to the 2022 performance of “The Talk.” Though down 93,000 viewers week-to-week, “The Bold and the Beautiful” (2.852 million) was up +122,000 viewers compared to the same week last year and was down just 113,000 from its performance during the comparable week in 2022. Although it declined by 96,000 viewers week to week, “GMA3” (1.505 million) was up +0.04 among Women 18-49 (0.17 rating), topping “General Hospital” for the third time this season in the demo. Meanwhile, compared to 2022, the news program was down just 74,000 viewers. Wrap-UpWhat follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of February 9-13, 2026, among Women 18-49 rating, Women 25-54 rating, Households and Total Viewers, including week-to-week and year-over-year comparisons (where available). 9. Whenever we don't post the ratings on Wednesday or Thursday of the following week after a ratings period has concluded, it's because we don't have them yet. We might have part of it, or none of it. Just depends on when our sources provide them. In the past, we'd get them on Tuesdays, but since the introduction of the Big Data + Panel model, we've been getting them on Wednesdays or Thursdays, and with holiday weeks, on Fridays.
  10. “The Jennifer Hudson Show” will be back for a fifth season after receiving a renewal order from the FOX Television Stations late last week. The news was announced by Lauren Blincoe, SVP, Current Programming for Telepictures, the Warner Bros. Discovery Group company that produces and distributes the daytime talk show, and Frank Cicha, Executive Vice President of Programming for Fox Television Stations. “I could not be more honored to continue this journey alongside a phenomenal group of brilliant producers, dedicated crew, and collaborative partners,” said host Jennifer Hudson in a statement. “It is such a joy to connect with people in meaningful ways every day across this country and to share stories of heart and inspiration, all while bringing entertainment into people’s lives. None of this would be possible without our incredible audience. They are the heartbeat of the show, and I am so excited to take this to new heights in Season 5!” The renewal comes as other veteran daytime talk shows, like “The Kelly Clarkson Show” and “Sherri,” are set to conclude at the end of the 2025-2026 television season, and as fans were contemplating the future of the genre as ratings and revenue continue to decline For the 2025–26 season to date, “The Jennifer Hudson Show” stands out as one of the few daytime talk shows delivering year-over-year growth among Adults 25–54 and with viewership up +10% among Women 25–54. Meanwhile, in the digital space, Hudson’s talk show continues to deliver massive growth and engagement across platforms, ranking as the #1 daytime talk show on TikTok and Threads, and the second-most-followed daytime talk show across all social media platforms. 11. The primetime medical drama “Brilliant Minds” is likely to be canceled after just two seasons, according to Deadline‘s NBC Renewal Status Report, published on Monday. The outlet says the likely reasons leaning toward a cancellation include the show being pulled from the schedule post-Olympics, its ranking as the network’s lowest-rated drama overall, behind “The Hunting Party,” and ratings that fell by double digits year-over-year, despite retaining the same time slot. Though six episodes remain to air from the show’s current second season, the series, which was scheduled for Monday nights at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT, following “The Voice,” is being replaced by two-hour editions of “The Voice,” which now begin at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT, following the already renewed “St. Dennis Medical” and the new comedy “The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins,” starring Tracy Morgan (“Saturday Night Live”), Daniel Radcliffe (“Harry Potter” film series), Erika Alexander (“Living Single”) and Precious Way (“Days of our Lives”), among others. Inspired by the extraordinary life and work of world-famous author and physician Oliver Sacks, “Brilliant Minds” follows Dr. Oliver Wolf (Zachary Quinto), a revolutionary, larger-than-life neurologist and his team of interns as they explore the last great frontier – the human mind – while grappling with their own relationships and mental health. Teddy Sears, Zachary Quinto, Al Calderon “Days of our Lives” star Al Calderon (Javi Hernandez) joined as a series regular for Season 2, playing Nurse Nico Silva, who is described as the “Mayor” of the fictionalized Bronx General Hospital. “One Life to Live” alum Teddy Sears also stars. “Brilliant Minds” was created by Michael Grassi, who also serves as writer and executive producer. Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, Lee Toland Krieger, DeMane Davis, Melissa Aouate, Henrik Bastin, Jonathan Cavendish, Andy Serkis and Shefali Malhoutra also executive produce. 13. The next episode of “State of Mind with Maurice Benard,” releasing Sunday, February 21, features “General Hospital” star Kelly Thiebaud (Dr. Britt Westbourne) discussing how she blew up her life at 40 and how therapy has helped her start over. In an exclusive sneak peek at the episode, Thiebaud also tells host Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos, “General Hospital”) about the childhood trauma that shaped her — and how therapy ultimately helped her rebuild her life. “My parents got divorced when I was 10, and it really traumatized me,” noted Thiebaud. “I think the physical presence of my dad leaving the house, and that masculine presence, terrified me. And so things were happening with me that my mom got really concerned about. And so she had me go see a therapist… I got put on some sort of medication, but I didn’t take it… I was being rebellious with my mom. I’m like, ‘Oh, you think something’s wrong with me? I’m going to show you.’” “Do you know what it was?” asked Benard. “I have no idea. Something for depression,” replied Thiebaud, referring to the medication she was taking. “My family should have… we should have all gone to like family counseling, but no one really does that. I’m the only one out of my immediate family that has gotten help — therapy is absolutely incredible — to experience what I experienced at 40 and like blowing my life up and losing everything and having to start all over, it makes you feel like an absolute failure. I was very bitter. Very, very, very bitter and angry. And I would carry that every day.” Therapy has changed everything for Thiebaud, she says, explaining, “My therapist is like, ‘You really need to come every week so I can help you just work through that so you don’t have to carry it.’ And that has helped immensely. To just unload on someone who is just there to listen and support me and not judge me has been really, really great.” Watch a clip from Thiebaud’s upcoming appearance on “State of Mind” below. Launched in July 2020, “State of Mind with Maurice Benard” focuses on mental health and mental health awareness. 14. “CBS Mornings” co-anchor Gayle King will make a guest appearance on the Monday, February 23 episode of “Beyond the Gates.” In the episode, King will play herself as she appears on the set of “CBS Mornings” conducting a sit-down interview with Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie), who will disclose to the world that just before Christmas, she was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). King’s appearance comes just over two months after “Beyond the Gates” and the Know Your Lemons Foundation began a partnership to raise awareness about important life-saving initiatives with the introduction of the breastcancer storyline, with TNBC most commonly found in Black women. Tamara Tunie, Gayle King After revealing the news to her husband, Vernon (Clifton Davis), and daughters, Dani (Karla Mosley) and Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix), the storyline continues to unfold as viewers follow Anita’s chemotherapy journey and witness the emotional impact on the family as they navigate genetic testing for both the female and male sides, who must confront the realities of the disease. As part of the awareness initiative, the show began airing PSAs last month featuring Mosley and Duplaix. “Our goal is to tell a story that raises awareness about the prevalence of triple-negative breast cancer and the importance of regular screenings to aid in early detection,” said executive producers Michele Val Jean and Tracey Thomson, in a joint statement announcing the initiative. “Beyond that, we want to encourage and empower women to take an active role in their own breast health. You are your own best advocate.” “So often we don’t learn about breast health until we have a breast problem. In partnership with ‘Beyond the Gates,’ we can educate about the 12 symptoms of breast cancer and share an app that has saved many lives through early detection of breast cancer. Including us in the promotion of Anita’s diagnosis is a meaningful way to not only raise awareness among viewers but also encourage them to get screened, report a change and feel more confident about their health. We’re thrilled to be working alongside the show team to bring this education to everyone,” stated Dr. Corrine Ellsworth Beaumont, CEO and founder of the Know Your Lemons Foundation. 16. Not exactly sure what you're referring to when it comes to bringing things from other websites, in terms of poster vs poster, and specifically if that has happened here to begin with, but we do not accept any harassment of posters on the SON Community. If someone has an issue with another poster, they are advised to add that poster to "ignore" under their account settings. Personal attacks that derail conversations and are unwarranted will be dealt with by the admins.
  17. Theoretical breakdown: Discuss the Soaps (main forum, followed by sub-forums) Beyond the Gates SPOILER: Blank is joining the show in a recurring role Anita Dupree's breast cancer storyline Thursday, February 19, 2026 Episode Discussion Beyond the Gates launches PSA Interview with Ambyr Michelle The Bold and the Beautiful SPOILER: Couple to get married JMW returns from maternity leave Katherine Kelly Lang joins DWTS Days of our Lives General Hospital The Young and the Restless Specific show conversations would fall under each show's forum. General Discussion, encompassing all the soaps, such as the Y&R/BTG Crossover info, would fall under the main Discuss the Soaps forum.
  18. Yes, it could and can continue. What I'm contemplating is allowing posters to expand on a topic that has previously been confined to a thread, such as the classics thread. For instance, say someone wants to discuss a specific storyline for Y&R from 1987. They wouldn't be forced to post only in the classics thread. They can create their own. The problem with posting in just the classics thread is that there are thousands of posts. One wouldn't be able to find any particular conversation in the thread, which has been open for more than a decade. It would be easier to find under a specific title.
  19. Sure, there was a reason behind morphing discussion threads into monthly discussions, but, while it made sense at the time, it has also stifled the community's growth potential. At year 25, this place needs to grow. There is no incentive to maintain it without changing its organization. This is for everyone: From the perspective of a new visitor or potential registered member, what reason would one want to take part in discussions if you can't find topics worth discussing beyond a monthly thread, a spoiler thread, and maybe an all-inclusive show history thread? It's claustrophobic. That's what I want to fix.
  20. Errol posted a topic in Rules
Whether it's called "rumor(s)" or "rumour(s)," SON Community members are not to publish or engage in conversations about unverifiable or unfounded information, particularly when posted without a source. Posters are NOT sources. Saying, "I'm hearing," "I heard," or "I saw somewhere," etc, as examples, does not make something true or factual.
  21. Errol posted a topic in Rules
When posting about what's going to happen on your favorite soap opera, including spoilers and casting, please cite your source. If published by an online outlet, link whenever possible. If a print publication, no matter how rare that has become, please indicate the publication and its publication date(s). Do not post scanned copies of the article; only summarize or quote a portion for emphasis.
  22. The links provided about two Sisters threads is confusing. I see only one active Sisters thread, while there is a general thread for Primetime Soaps. One is specific to a show, while the other is a day part. Ditto for the Rich Man Poor Man example. One is specific to the show, and the other is a general topic. In my view, the show-specific threads for canceled shows are meant to discuss the show in depth with its fans. Meanwhile, ABC Daytime, NBC Daytime, CBS Daytime, Primetime Soaps, Classic Primetime Mini-Series, etc., type threads are specific to lineups or general conversations about genres that might also mention a specific show in that discussion. For instance, if someone is talking about NBC's decision to cancel Santa Barbara and replace it with another show, that could technically be specific to Santa Barbara, but the topic itself is beyond the show itself, because one is talking about NBC's decision and the show greenlit as the replacement. That's where NBC Daytime thread and Santa Barbara thread differ. Think of it like this, for nearly an entire year, we discussed all things Beyond the Gates from the time it was first announced as being in development, all the way through its first episode airing. That was a historic thread that still lives on in a new capacity, but as it stands, anything and everything related to the show is either limited to that thread, the monthly discussion thread or the monthly spoiler thread. Where can we discuss other aspects of the show where people can actively participate without having to search dozens, or even hundreds, of pages first? I personally can't read every single page of every single thread just to find where someone discussed something, and I can't expect others to do the same. (This is me rambling, not necessarily a direct and only response to @janea4old )
  23. To elaborate further, the Beyond the Gates and General Hospital monthly threads have the highest post counts each month. That is amazing, and I am thrilled. However, if you want to discuss a particular episode from last week or earlier, sure, one can just go ahead and post a comment, but then it's unlikely to receive a response since others would be discussing more current episodes. Conversations therefore get lost and unorganized. Now, I understand that B&B and Y&R get the fewest posts in the discussion threads, and that's mostly because of the defined nature of who has registered and which shows they are watching. Clearly, we have less posters for some shows than others. That's another reason I'm contemplating change as it'll hopefully lead to people finding this space a good place to discuss the show they want to discuss. While the threads idea helps keep things organized, it also leads to confusion and missed opportunities for newcomers.
  24. I'm not anticipating those types of posts appearing in a show-specific forum, and would certainly move such a topic to that forum for that purpose if necessary.
  25. Correct. My apologies for any confusion caused by my initial post (I wrote it when I was barely awake). My proposal is to abandon the concept of threads for each soap currently still in production. Meaning, no more monthly spoiler and discussion threads for the current soaps, and instead create a show-specific forum, where people can talk about any topic they want about a particular show. Currently, the Discuss the Soaps forum is a cluttered mess, with monthly discussion threads for five shows pinned, plus another five pinned for a set period of time for the episode counts. This means that at any given time, 10 posts are pinned, and the potential to create or expand conversations on other topics is lost because no one reads beyond page one of said forum, since all conversations are stuck in a thread somewhere. For example, each week, Soapy has a new guest. Say you want to discuss the Susan Lucci episode, but the most recent comments are on the Peter Bergman episode since it was the most recently posted, your comment would appear out of date, or someone might have said the same thing earlier in the thread, but you didn't realize it because you didn't read an earlier post that was published pages earlier around the time the Susan Lucci episode was first released. Another example. The B&B website revamp. Had @dragonflies posted exclusively in the B&B history, pictures thread, many posters wouldn't have heard about the revamp. That's not to say the post couldn't also be mentioned in the B&B history, pictures thread, but I think the point is made. Using spoilers as another example. Tomorrow, the Luke Spencer dedication episode of General Hospital, which also honors Tony Geary, airs. The idea of the thread is that everything related to the special must be posted there. It doesn't always work because there are many aspects to it, including interviews with specific cast members, promos, and other media. The thread title wouldn't work for all that, especially if someone is looking for something specific related to the topic. Overall, I'm looking to find ways to drive more discussions, significantly increase readership/registrations, and ensure the longevity of the community as it celebrates its 25th year. As it stands, it's not worth investing in without making any changes, since the ads people complain about don't even pay $15 a day, yet the upkeep costs have grown by leaps and bounds. For instance, besides hosting, I have to pay a monthly subscription so that people can embed posts from social media platforms, pay for the ability to use GIFs in posts, and pay for maintenance outside of hosting, among other rising costs. To a certain extent, I think the Soap Central forums would be a good example of what I'm looking at. As for the other forums, if there is more than one thread for something like Sisters, that shouldn't happen, and it also means we need to clean up the other forums to make things more organized.
