It is wild that they let her dip with Lulu and Dante's child again and everyone is supposed to be cool with it.

Yeah, I'm busy IRL and I think I'm dipping on a lot of this lol. The last week-plus has been a grind story-wise on top of the endless attempts to first cement Britt and then vouchsafe her latest terrible behavior. I do not feel obligated to give modern GH my time whenever it hits a series of potholes in rapid succession. This began (after my last regular return in 2012) with Jean Passanante and Altman taking over, much of which I skipped for my own sanity, as well as a lot of the early Van Etten, etc. period until Sprina happened. Any time it really becomes an annoying snooze I take a break for days, weeks or months. When the Willow, Drew, etc. saga begins moving again I'll start watching daily some more. Or when a certain blonde shows up. ETA: Scrap that, Gio is shirtless tomorrow, I'll watch at least a third of the show!

GH: Former "Y&R" actress recast in legacy role
About time. KK is far from my first choice for reasons @DRW50 mentioned and I would have had her closer in age range to Michael, but whatever. I will take this with optimism. She is an obvious (and smart) Maxie replacement if they do it right, and I have always wanted Serena to swoop in and help Lucy take Deception back from these interlopers. Hopefully Kruger will surprise me.

I think so, yes. IMO Frank has shown absolutely zero initiative in enhancing or improving the Black canvas. He's simply added a second weak male for the main incestuous quad to bounce off of, a nobody for Trina on the backburner, and kept having Curtis swap wives regularly. There's nothing else there, I've always felt it's merely a timefiller to say a Black family exists. Adding or bringing back old/new characters of color would be too much effort vs. just keeping the tired characters that have been here too long and are not interesting (Curtis, Jordan). It's autopilot.

I liked Faison's return in '99 more than some folks did. He was creepy as hell even though the Felicia thing was ridiculous. I was pleased to see him in 2012 even when the story was goofy. By the time they had him dressing up like Beetlejuice for a wacky family Halloween the following year and then going off with Britt to 'bond' I thought he was played out and had been made too campy-cute a la most of Carlivati's takes on villains. Regrettably they then brought him back for more bad stories to give him needless sons in later dull regimes. Faison, like Obrecht, works in controlled doses and careful story. Neither of which either of them have had in many years. With Obrecht it went off the rails very quickly because Ron and Frank couldn't bear giving her up. Now half the town is on a first-name basis with this terrorist and they all act like she's an eccentric old aunt when she's schemed against, shot or otherwise tried to murder maybe a dozen of them. I'm tired of it.

Yeah, I think she matters and is loved by a lot of the audience. She can exasperate or polarize some people as could any character of that type, but that's largely due to her use in the last 10+ years which has been pretty weak. I appreciate Frank's GH for reviving Lucy and keeping her in the mix but they can do much better by her. It's just not been a priority, but that can and should change as opposed to going all in on Round 3 or 4 of Obrecht and the Faisons.

She did what?!

Home & Heart isn't about that though; that's clearly a device to keep Morgan Fairchild and Susan Batten in their health insurance. Which I respect Frank for doing in principle, but you could make much better use of those two side characters as gophers at some Deception outlet store or something vs. constantly bringing back that terrible in-story TV show. I do think a lot of '90s fans adore Lucy. I know I do. People who came in on the Fab 4 era in the early 2000s might or might not, but again, there's not enough of them left to be some audience portion that dictates her use or how it's done. It's just the show thinking Lucy can do anything, that Lynn can sell anything (she can) and therefore being too careless with how they use her.

I think if an audience segment was going to hurt Lucy that badly it'd already have done the work. Certainly Lucy could not have survived Guza II intact, had she been around. But the mob-centric audience that only cared about them (and that did not begin watching before them, as both caroline and I did) has dwindled dramatically in recent years to say nothing of the mob's almost irrelevant story space, so I don't think any cross-section of viewers is any danger to Lucy whether they like her or not. Sure, some folks don't like her. The show uses her regardless. I agree with @carolineg . The problem with Lucy today is not in having an audience there for her IMO; a lot of fans still love her. The problem is in that usage. She is on much more regularly lately and the show clearly cares about Lynn and wants to keep working her. The issue is how they choose to use her and the lazy habits they fall back on when they do.

They couldn't get her to show up for anything Trek for almost 30 years, now Picard and this! And the devs (Bloober Team) do great work, so I'm pretty excited about it.
