Wednesdays are becoming a golden date for soaps as their ratings are spiking up hard on that day. Well except America's Bogus Company.

I think the biggest story of the year might be GL's turn around in '09. GL is turning things around big time and it reminds me of when DAYS was dead in the water in '07 & '08 and turned it around in late '08. I predicted that GL would be hitting a 1.8 around the time Phillip returned with Edmund. Besides the casting the stunts the real gold for this soap has been Natalia and Olivia's relationship as they have brought in a growing audience. With Y&R's recent uprise in the ratings GL should start seeing a 2.0 surpassing ABC's soaps and become the 6th place soap sometime before this fall.

From your mouth (or fingers) to God's ears!! GO GL!!

I am a bit disappointed in Y&R's ratings. I did not expect the ratings to go down or the # of viewers to drop that way from the previous week. The viewership was steady but very stagnant considering what the 2 focal points of that week was. Yeah, CBS shouldn't be elated or giving themselves a pat on their shoulders about their shows at all!! They are taking major hits in the pocketbook!! Expect a lot more trimming of the fat sort of like making an airplane as light as possible so that it can go a long distance without crashing!! dry.gif

Given that the huge gain in last week's ratings were due to the winter storm, a soap that was able to keep any of those viewers should be happy. No matter how people try to claim otherwise, the weekly fluctuations are due to random external events like the weather not the quality of the show or the stories featured that week.

I would say yes we could use the weather as a good excuse but somehow I don't think those excuses will be flying any longer.

I am really happy for Guiding Light. I have been DVRing it but haven't had time to watch yet. Maybe there is hope after all for the show. That 1.8 on Wednesday also put a really big smile on my face for them. Wish AMC had done better though.

guiding light is so amazing and has been for a few months now. alan's wedding looked so much better than the "inn" on amc. i'm finding that i've adjusted to guiding lights production model. it's very very hard for me to watch other soaps now...especially when they are "outside". it looks fake, phony, and like 1950. now that guiding lights stories are richer, and in focus, everything seems to be great! i do wish they would change the music though. i really don't care for it. it's the only downer on a show that is so good and looks so good, i feel like i'm seeing and watching some of the best soap opera in years!

if anyone is out there and has not seen it...check it out...it's amazing...go to the light!

Even though they lost viewers, it seem all CBS shows are still higher than pre-winter storm...
Hopefully they can keep those viewers and build on it.

Yup, a 3.9 for Y&R is still good. And I can see them getting a 4.1 soon too...LOL.

Go read the thread in the spoiler forum titled "Carruthers talks about Bianca & Reese's relationship"

After reading that she has to be smoking some amazing crack or something

Didn't Higley's OLTL have good ratings for an extended period of time? Does her style appeal to a casual viewer even if longtime viewers are upset? Then she seems to eventually alienate casual viewers.

I'm glad the CBS soaps have increased in ratings because I think 3 out of the 4 have improved in quality over the last year. B&B has plenty of problems but at least is moving back towards camp instead of ill-advised attempts at drama. Y&R is going back to their core elements, or trying to go back. GL has been splendid for the past few weeks, reminding me more of what GL is supposed to be than it has in a long time.

AMC frustrates me. Viewers wanted to give them a chance. If they could just learn how to tell stories and stop the stunts, and stop acting like fans are idiots.

Guess that Toni's site has everything messed up, they had those days as being the 2nd and 3rd of Feb. We'll get a reunion of the cheating twosome afterall.

I was just looking at the days the "magical" boink took place and how it affected the ratings. Y&R is too good these days not to watch daily or at the latest the next day!!

Here's hoping that Y&R hits a 4.2 in the coming month!

And I'm tickled that DAYS is remaining stable in the ratings game and a solid number 3 in total viewers. Good or bad, I don't want DAYS to ever be cancelled. It's the last soap remaining of my originals (DAYS, AW, SB, SFT).

Those are better than I anticipated for Y&R so I'm excited. Even more so that Wed and Thurs were big days. smile.gif

Thanks for the ratings Toups.
