OLTL: Possible spinoff, after all? NS' huge success may bring it about...

Whereas before he basically denied any plans to focus on the other soaps, this quote from the new interview seems to have a new viewpoint:
With the success of "Night Shift," SoapNet will look at extending other soaps on its air. "I think we do have to look hard at what ‘One Life to Live’ might be able to do for us in terms of an original spinoff," Mr. Frons said.
So, it looks like other soaps on ABC may benefit, after all. Wait and see.
BTW, the info about NS' ratings can be found here. And Fashionista Diaries is tanking:

Psh. No surprise there!
A friend of mine told me she tapes her soaps on ABC, but that a power outage screwed up her VCR, therefore forcing her to watch them on SOAPnet. And she was not too pleased to find FASHIONISTA DIARIES in the place of OLTL. She said, "I don't wanna watch that s**t. I see clips on THE SOUP for that!"

If they do end up doing a spin off I'm sure it will be centered around the police station and John Mcbain. It won't take him off daytime because he'll appear on both shows.

That's exactly it. I mean, if they would take the airhogs and center them on the night time show and give us a 12 week break from them, that's one thing. If it's a double dose then no thanks.

Well, I'm perfectly okay with a OLTL spinoff, just as long as the police station and John McBain are not involved at all - which seems quite unlikely.

AMC is in worse shape right now - major stars thinking about leaving (i.e. Alexa Havins), and Cam Mathison can only do so much. My guess is that they might look at ME to anchor a limited-run spinoff about Llanview's police dept.

Perhaps they could have a OLTL spinoff that would get the show back to its more lower class, urban roots with the Angel Square?

Oh, I would love for them to bring back the Banner and the Sun. I use to love the storylines that focused (or semi focused) there.

The only thing is, though, is that if they do spin-off OLTL...unlike with Nightshift, I wouldn't want 50% of the OLTL cast involved. That's why the first few episodes of Nightshift looked like out takes from GH. I say Renee, plus one or two minor OLTL characters, and that's it. Let the rest be all new players.

Well OLTL did say recently that we would be seeing more of Patricia Elliott in the future, even after Asa's death....

And no, you don't focus it on the Palace or BE. You focus it just on the community, on Angel Square and surrounding areas. That goes back to the core of the show, just like the hospital on NS.

AMC should do one for Cambias or The Season's East Casino and set it after dark or something.
I can imagine what OLTL could do. I mean the LPD having a spin off, I can see John McBain on both shows like Steve Burton is with GH and NS

There is just no center for AMC that would work, IMHO. OLTL would be a better choice because they could do police/detective drama and it seems like the stronger show of the two right now.
