IIRC, she never said she retired. More so that she wasn't a daytime fan, despite acting in the genre. And her history with soaps and her ongoing personal issues, I don't know if she'd walk back in. But considering she did do GH for the one-off episode, I would assume if the right role were offered, she'd come back.

He was. And also respectful in interviews and has a nice fondness for soaps. Also why it is clear that a lot of what I disliked (and continue to in spite of my overall enjoyment) at GH I put on CVE.

I am so happy for Jamey! I loved his work on Ambitions and BTG. He loves Y&R, knows it's history and knows where things went wrong. I also don't see his Y&R being boring. I hope he doesn't overdo it with the camp but I fully expect there to be romances and rivalries which have been so missed.

Dan O'Connor is a smart choice to join him. He has some experience but isn't completely burnt out and passed around like most HW choices. His GH had some strong moments but I don't know what he knows about Y&R. If their chemistry and balance is good, I could see this being a successful duo.

I will say, out of all new HW announcements I can think of in recent years, this is definitely the most exciting one I can recall. It definitely won't be boring!

I have to wonder how this Co-HW arrangement happened - Did Jamey and Dan pitch together as a team, or did Sony and CBS decide to pair them together after separate pitches (or aggressive managers were in play somewhere)?

I won't hold my breath, but at least there's a change coming. Y&R has been such a bore to me the past year plus with the same storylines over and over. I'm willing to take (almost) anything for a change.

I believe Vivica has said she'd love to work more on the show, so I could see Stephanie being on more. The Stephanie, Holden, Lily, Devon crew with Nate added in is a great foundation. But...for the love of all things good, please give Devon a personality transplant! He's been insufferable for years.

As far as past characters coming back, I most want to see Leanna Love. She's the pot-stirrer this show needs and has been lacking since Diane initially returned to town. Her history with most of the characters could drive a lot of story.

May not be a popular opinion, but the show needs Jill. If Jess Walton can't commit to heavier story, then recast.

The show needs more Ashley and Traci...but NO recasts.

I'd like to see Sharon sell the company she never works at and then start flaunting her wealth...mostly in front of Nikki. Give Sharon a backbone again and stop making her a victim.

As much as I love Courtney Hope, I think Sally should move on. Billy and Sally do nothing for me. Her and Audra are basically the same characters and I think there's more story potential with Audra. Especially with her family still out there.

Get rid of Matt, Sienna, Chelsea, Sally, Daniel, Patty. Bring back Summer. Add Christian as a troubled teen starting to rebel against being raised by Nick when Adam is his father.

I really hope they build a strong new generation, and really utilize Audra. She has so much potential.

The other issue is definitely going to be the production values though which they have nothing to do with, in one of those DC articles shared. Jamey says Y&R was the glamour soap and it is lackingggg

Jamey at least has passion for the genre and understands Y&R’s history.

Dan was the better part of a writing team that had some hits or misses. I think Dan can keep Jamey grounded.

I’ll definitely be tuning in which is something I have not been able to say at all during Josh’s run.

I don’t remember Dan’s GH being campy at all, is Jamey even going to be capable of writing the Y&R he loves though? The camp/comedy came from character based interactions and the show overall was serious. I don’t really associate him with that, although I’ve enjoyed BTG

I am still excited to see a Josh free Genoa City though

Matt should be dropped into a volcano (not a new thing for this show).

Tamara Braun just has constant bad luck with her post-Carly roles. She should go. I'd get rid of everyone you mentioned but I might keep Daniel around. Sally if she was better defined.

I ride for Jamey! If you look at the trajectory of his career, it made sense and I think it's a smart choice. It's someone with a fresh voice who also has a deep love and knowledge of the show. I'm glad they didn't go with Ron (who I suspect is busy with All My Children).

I can't think of any characters who DON'T need resets beyond the Lily/Cane relationship that's been good.

Almost everything and everyone else is rooted in the "Who Owns What Company Today?" universe.

I fully believe Giddens and O'Connor will end this crap. And no, I don't think more budget is needed to have a better written soap. Chat GTP and Claude could write rings around what we're getting.

I would bet money the cast is partly nervous about who's safe and who's not, but also energized. There's no way they can be happy playing what they've been given.

My fear is that the stories will continue to happen off screen..

In other words are we going to actually get any homes for our main characters again, and a regular usage of a court room, jail set, police station, hospital, sets for Newman & Jabot?

Because even if the dialogue improves doesn’t necessarily mean we’ll get to see anything actually happen. Right now literally nothing happens. Everyone sits and talks at the coffee house and GCAC.
