BTG: June 2026 Discussion Thread

This tornado came completely out of nowhere and Im not sure why they are having an event like this randomly in the second week of June and not during Sweeps. Its big yet small time. Almost all the major characters just so happen to be at the country club? I would expect to see more jumps t other parts of town where others are effected

Still dont understand why the Y&R characters needed to be here unless they are seeding future storylines. The Kyle/Hayley pairing seems random and it would only fit if they plan on transfering her over to Genoa City once her con is exposed to Bill

  • I personally don't think that disliking White Savior Joey is an indication the character is working. If it's a choice between King Joey and Duprees Strong, I choose neither.

  • There is nothing remotely scary or dangerous about the portrayal of Joey. Literally everything he says is dripping with sarcasm and zero menace. Also the writing of Joey as just the smartest person th

Why do we need to wait for sweeps in 2026 for big things to happen? I don’t even think sweeps matters anymore and the more shows keep things interesting year round, the better. GH is good about this.

And I like the character of Haley and would never wish terrible ass Y&R of today on either the character or actress.

The tornado is certainly an eye grabbing event , but the real test is whether anything will come out of it. OUAT a big soap event like this lead to a death, an affair exposed, along held secret revealed, etc

But nowadays they often just amount -oh that was a scary night-someone is injured but recovers etc.

Hopefully this tornado wil have re-per-cussions.

This show did not need to wait even longer for more things to happen. Following the strong cotillion with Derek's death, the Impaler reveal (however janky) and now this was a smart play for a new soap needing eyeballs, and hopefully will continue to pay them dividends going forward with a seemingly pleased audience. Frankly it's the kind of heat I expected when Guza was still here.

I am still catching up on the week but I will say last week's flashback episode with Hayley/Bill/Dani was I thought quite good, and a smart way to set up this week's events with them. Karla was very, very good in the affair reveal scenes.

Honestly the affair reveal scenes and even the treatment we saw of Bill towards Dani when the show started just make her look so pathetic everytime she cheats on Andre with him.

I don't disagree. But I think Bill and Dani do have a real, dysfunctional passion that works. I like both couples.

-- Sweeps has become an outdated concept. These soaps can't wait for 4 time periods a year to let it rip.

-- I can understand not showing other parts of town during the tornado. We already know this was expensive to shoot. Why ruin more sets and have even more expense? Financially, that makes no sense.

-- I do think it's important to avoid a lull after this. If they picked up new viewers for the crossover, an easy way to lose them is to have no aftermath to any of this.

-- I'll say it again. I want Dani away from Bill. The man was an HORRENDOUS husband and partner. The bad far outweighed the good, and I want him away from her.

If we had the Phoenix Street clinic set it would've been wonderful to see some folks like Ashley, Grayson, etc. there or maybe Leslie having to learn to save lives. Or Mona, June, etc. at Orphey Gene's. But I agree that they had to keep things relatively limited on today's budgets, and they are clearly doing a lot with this space.

If they wanted to tease Dani and Bill for a possible reunion, why make him have multiple affairs throughout the marriage?

I know there are many women in that situation who put up with a cheating husband for whatever reason, but for TPTB to want viewers to go along for the ride under that setup is puzzling.

Had Bill had a mid life thing with Hayley that got out of control we might have more sympathy for Bill.

I like Bill, Dani and Andre but the set up for a triangle is out of whack.

I do like to venture onto Twitter (X) because it always had some interesting takes and I figured BTG wouldn't be the exception.

On the surface, I agree with this. However, it's realistic that Madison would most likely be on call (though how both Ashley and Shanice managed to be off duty and not on call makes me curious).

And a lot of people think Eva's injury will lead to a revisit to her orgin story and I have to say that I agree with that as a possiblity. Remember that SPS/Leslie made a call to someone on the phone and asked them to do a favor for her when it came to doing a DNA test on Eva. Perhaps that favor involved making it look as though Eva was Ted's daughter. The fact no one bothered to do a follow up paternity test and just believing the results provided always baffled me... but after 300+ episodes, I've concluded that the Dupree's are pretty gullible and sheltered. How else to explain sloppy Hayley not getting caught and why the Duprees haven't figured out a way to neutralize SPS/Leslie.

With that said, the Kat stans on social media are scary.

If Eva is found out not to be Ted's daughter, then what's the story?

She'll have to face up to not having a father which would be sad. Surely she couldn't forgive Leslie. Kat would stick the knife in.

I guess Izaiah would stand by her.

So would there be some short term drama. But then she would just be pretty much an outcast in town.

I can't imagine why revisiting Eva's paternity would make any difference story wise. Ted has learned to love Eva like a daughter, and I doubt that would change even if Leslie has been lying about the girl's parentage. Ted is a nice guy & it wouldn't change his feelings about Eva.

I appreciated the irony of Andre Richardson bleeding on the floor, while Mrs. Andre Richardson was pawing all over Big Bill in the elevator and giggling like a hyena about sitting "side saddle" across his face, and at the same time Mrs. Big Bill is trapped in another room pawing all over Martin's little friend from college.

I find Twitter to be the the worst place to discuss the show. So much negativity and while I know the show isn't perfect, they complain for anything. Even a week like this that has been really strong, they've still found endless reasons to complain. Why is Leslie there? Why isn't every scene about the Duprees? Why are there white people? Why are there any villains/drama on the show? It's just nonstop and they talk so bad about MVJ in a veryy personal way.

One of the big things is Madison, Kial and Carlton being away this week. Personally, I think it makes sense. This is a critical political event and Madison is in the middle of a lawsuit and it would look horrible for Nicole to have her ex husband and two boyfriends there. Joey is another example of someone who should't be there but they played it head on which added to the soapiness of the event.

I didn't know what to think of this group of Y&R characters crossing over but I thought it worked perfectly. I loved the callbacks to the Y&R characters past. Diane and Leslie were a genius pairing and it was a good reminder of what she could be long term. I thought Abby and Devon were more interesting than they've been in years, especially in the dreary story they currently have. I actually feel like they could fit in better here long term than they do on Y&R.

I'm excited to see where they leave things on Friday. Thursday had cliffhanger after cliffhanger and could've easily been theFriday show. I hope the week ends strong and that they play this for weeks to come. If they quickly wrap this up it will all be a waste. We need people seriously hurt, we need the Hayley/Bill story to finally start moving, we need Dani/Bill to really come into focus. Don't let people forget this event! Play it for all it's worth and use it as a true kick off point for some new stories.

As others have said, do sweeps months really matter whatsoever anymore (with daytime programming, but even primetime programming?) I assumed, with the huge erosion of network tv in general that they had become irrelevant.
