Susan could've gotten top billing if she really insisted on it. However she always saw AMC as an ensemble show. Back in the day when she was a huge star, she never complained about sharing a dressing room (as everyone shared a dressing room back in the day)

Later when Jane Elliot and Marcy Walker went to West Coast soaps, and certain actor would complain about their dressing rooms, they always pointed out that Susan Lucci shared a dressing room, and never complained.

According to Lucci herself, she was trained at Marymount College by graduates from Yale Drama School; and BITD, at least, that was a school that trained its' young theater professionals to check their egos at the door. As a former professor of mine who also graduated from YDS once said, "Watching Meryl Streep work backstage on costumes was a real trip!"

I'd say the same for Hillary Bailey Smith, who managed to do alright with three different Toms when she was on ATWT. (We won't count Jason Kincaid, lol).

Yeah, just as impressive. Weren't there, like, 200 Toms? LOL! (A lot of Mike Hortons on Days, too!)

Oh, yeah. Speaking of Santa Barbara, another obvious conflict was between Jed Allan and Wanda de Jesus, so much so, that apparently, Jed touched upon it in his memoir.

I always thought that whole plot point made no sense, anyway, given Santana's past with C.C. vis a vis Brandon, etc. But it seems Jed Allan was not sorry to see Wanda de Jesus go.

Yep, including none other than John Boy Walton himself, lol!

I can't even fathom that one!

Also among the list of previous Toms: Frankie Michaels, who played young Patrick Dennis to Angela Lansbury's Mame; and Paul O'Keefe, who was Patty's brother in "The Patty Duke Show" and who, according to most sources I've come across, also played young Dan Stewart at one point? Now THAT (O'Keefe playing Dan AND Tom at different points in time) is one I can't fathom, lol.

So, As The World Turns was ahead of its time in recycling actors! Both Days and GH seem to have made that practice an art form! 😎

Maybe. I mean, there's a very good chance someone got it wrong - that Paul O'Keefe did not play both Dan Stewart and Tom(my) Hughes - but others kept repeating it all over the Internet until it became accepted fact. Which is why I'm glad we have @slick jones and his Soap Opera Cast Lists, as they seem to be the most accurate statistics I can find for this stuff online. Thank you again, slick!!

That's what I miss most about Bill Bell: his inability to be intimidated by anyone who behaved unprofessionally or who tried to pull rank on his show. (He also famously told Jess Walton to "say the line" after she protested). We know there was backstage drama aplenty at Y&R, but at the end of the day, it was Mr. Bell's show, PERIOD.

Exactly! This. So good to hear what I heard about Bill sitting EB and PB is true. HE did not play with HIS show.

I think Don Hastings recently implied on the Locher Room that Irna Philips got rid of Richard Thomas, but then she insisted otherwise after he became a star...

I don't know if I'd call this a feud, but it still amused me.

When Kathryn Leigh Scott printed the diary she kept while filming House of Dark Shadows, she mentioned Dan Curtis suggesting Roger Davis would be her next love interest on the main show (as he had been in the film). She then starts writing about how she is going to get fat to make sure that can't happen.

I was there as a teen when she read that diary aloud at a DS con. The next line after getting the news was "Why am I being punished?" I think Davis was in the audience or nearby, so KLS quickly apologized. Davis was widely known to exasperate a lot of the women at the show.

Seeing that in person would be unforgettable.

Davis annoyed me onscreen so I can imagine how they felt.

I hope Jaclyn Smith talks about her life with Davis in her upcoming memoir, lol.
