Ehhh… if we Days fans can get through like six consecutive episodes of Leo, we can get through anything

But I agree, Shawn, Philip, Jada, and JJ too need to be featured more

It seemed more mature too, then what we’ve seen before on Days

That’s what I’ve really liked about the writing as of late, the maturity and the fact that the shows does make a valid attempt to delve deep into a characters motivations. No more scenes being played as a joke when they should be written seriously.

Even if you don't like what DAYS has become , today's scenes with Julie and Marlena were wonderful for any longtime fan, and we even got an indirect Liz mention. Julie owning the bookstore will hopefully mean she'll get to interact with different characters and even insert herself in their business from time to time.

The reveal I have been waiting for and it didn't disappoint. I, and I'm sure many others, guessed Rachel was the shooter, but that didn't and doesn't take away from how entertaining and watchable this story has been from start to finish. Even though I guessed from the outset, it didn't feel predictable. The journey was more than worth it. I think this story has done great things for Johnny, Chanel, Marlena, EJ, and Belle. I'm calling Who Shot EJ? a hit for this viewer. Let's hope we'll have many more to come.

Billy Flynn again looked hot as hell. I thought him and Cat finally had chemistry again in this episode. Cat being fired let go from the hospital was a nice obstacle that I'm interested to see how she'll get herself out of.

Looking at the guest credits, Philip we'll be seen again this week, but I want to add to wishing we saw more of him, a burgeoning Shawn/Jada relationship, and JJ, too. I think Philip/Gwen could be really interesting, personally. And I still want JJ involved with Gabi amidst her current story. However, I forget the exact scene and day, but I almost got the feeling they foreshadowed Gabi's death at one point.

And don't worry about me, because I've absolutely been fast-forwarding those useless Leo scenes to maintain a seamless watch experience.

Julie buying the bookstore is a good idea, but they should have done a better job with the books themselves. It's one fake book decor set after another, and it doesn't look real.

Please, the fact this show got a new set at all is a welcome dream and a prayer. This, plus the courtroom set, and hallway? Better than we could have ever expected with their dismal budget.

Same here.

There are some things that I'm not liking, but overall, it feels like DOOL again and I'm really happy about that.

I'd like that too.

I could see JJ trying to secretly investigate Titan, and whatever Gabi is doing with Tony, in an attempt to try and protect her. But Gabi being so stubborn and headstrong getting in his way a lot, which could possibly put his career as a detective in jeopardy.

I do hear you on this, but every shelf in the bookstore looks like this. No bookstore is arranged like this.

I’m finally officially caught up to present watching as of last night and I couldn’t agree with this post more. Sure the Johnny trial is absurd in that his dad is the one defending him on trial of shooting him and his aunt is prosecuting him, but it was never played for laughs. I love court drama on soaps and I thoroughly enjoyed this trial.

Rachel twist totally caught me off guard and I loved it. Though it was infinitely more believable that previous and my preferred Demon Spawn Rachel would’ve shot EJ over this current version but I guess I can explain away the change in character on dealing with shooting your uncle point blank lol. She really is a DiMera and I love that. Rachel genuinely wasn’t on my bingo card.

Another fabulous set of scenes between Julie and Marlena. SSH continues to make Julie’s grief palpable and I’m sure it’s because she’s truly mourning the loss on and offscreen. I continue to find all of her work post Doug’s death scenes better than the initial Doug death scenes. She’s had some really great scenes with both Chad and Marlena about grief. It’s just fantastic,

I’ve loved having Tony back as Thao has always been one of my favorite Days actors, but it’s crazy I believe in my catching up he’s only had one scene with a long time scene partner and that’s Anna his wife and was literally one episode. Weren’t Tony and Marlena actually good friends?

A new establishing shot. Now, Salem looks like Smalltown USA

I enjoyed Marlena and EJ absorbing the news of Rachel being the shooter. They both did a really good job. I guess I can understand Marlena, suspecting but not knowing for sure whether or not Rachel was the shooter because I can't see her possibly throwing her grandson under the bus to protect her granddaughter. And I expected Kristen to be annoying once she found out the truth and I didn't mind it. It was in her character for her lol but I'm not sure why EJ and Kristen are acting like Rachel will end up in prison if everybody knows that she's the shooter though.

But welcome back, Philip. It's been a while. I enjoyed his scenes with Belle, despite him making some weird faces again. And luckily, it looks like the two of them are going to remain just friends because I really don't want them to be a couple again. He also seemed kinda smart in his scenes with Gabi as well.

Stephanie, keeping the secret from Alex and everybody about who's really investigating Titan could be interesting though. They're boring and this could be a pretty good messy conflict for them. And with her doing PR for Titan, it could get even messier.

Young Will Horton shot EJ.  It wasn't shown and he wasn't caught.  Shortly afterwards, he was sent to live in Switzerland with Carrie and Austin for a while.  Lucas knew Will did it, but Lucas took the fall for him and went to prison.

    • Well, you are the most ill-informed, condescending person on this board so I am glad you enjoy mocking me? Or whatever you are trying to do lol.  You literally can't comprehend the simplest things about the show and don't watch, but are literally shaming me for being a women?

One other side note, because now I've re-read 1993-1994.  I think that I found a ret-con issue. In 1993 after John finds out that Stefano is Kristen's father. It is not like I am claiming to have found nuclear fission, clearly mistakes happen.  But, I found this to be amusing. In 1993, Stefano becomes deadly ill, so Kristen tells John that she needs to be by her father's side, but not to worry about the deadly disease, because she's adopted.  Given, that I've always thought of Kristen as being adopted, until the more recent cannon that she is Stefano's biological child, it is interesting that in 1993, the week before Tony comes to town to announce that he is Kristen's fiancée.  Kristen is saying that she can't give blood to her dying father, because she was adopted.  So, the current reverse in cannon, neglects that detail. It is so funny to read this and then see Kristen and Tony in the crypt this week, 32 years later.  That's more than half the show's history at this point, amazing.
    • It was shuffled off the stove way before that. Think of the early summer stuff with Gio, Emma, and Dalton, which they basically dropped for weeks at a time, and then also put them on the back burner until recently.

    • After the slap it does feel inevitable - being arrested and thrown out right after her big win.
    • Yesterday it was Theo and Jada.  Today it's Chad and Belle.  What a mess.
    • I asked my soap historian GPT to help pull together the best available sources on Daniel Pilon’s run, and here’s what the research confirms: * Pilon played Max Dubujak on *Ryan’s Hope* from 1983–88. * He began appearing as Alan Spaulding on *Guiding Light* in 1988. * An academic source notes that he appeared as **Max and Alan simultaneously in November 1988 * His later-life interviews mention major upheavals, including losing his home in the Northridge earthquake and declaring bankruptcy in 1994.  That’s the factual foundation. Now for the human side of it. I’ll admit Pilon was never my favorite Alan. The Spauldings are supposed to have that patrician, Midwestern money vibe, and suddenly here comes this very European-sounding gentleman sweeping into Springfield like he wandered in from a different soap entirely. It created a strange tonal shift, at least in my memory. Whether he was intended to be temporary is hard to pin down, but honestly, looking at what he was dealing with in his real life, I don’t know that the show ever had a truly stable window to figure it out. He was going through marital strife, while being talked about as the "next James Bond" back in Canada, and juggling work on two soaps at once is a lot. Under those circumstances, the question of whether he was the “right” type for Alan becomes almost secondary to the fact that he was working through multiple emergencies while stepping into one of GL’s biggest roles. So for me, the story of his Alan isn’t just about casting fit. It’s about an actor navigating chaos and the show adapting on the fly. Also, the proverbial soap hill that I would defend its honor, is that Ron Raines in the final week was so amazing, that for me, it erases all prior memories of his performance.
