Yes. Brandon is times and times better than Alex Alegria. He can act circles around him.

There should never be silent (without background music) scenes when Alegria is on screen. Any type of music to make it better is appreciated.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Alex Alegria is awful.

For a time, I thought  "At least he's good to look at and has a great voice." But that is not enough. Great looking Latino actors are all over the place.

I cannot believe how awkward and stilted Alegria is, and he's not getting any better. Scenes without music? When Alegria is onscreen, they need to crank up the entire orchestra.

The guy is in a major love triangle with two half-sisters and he brings no heat to any of it.

Alex Alegria is quite easily the worst actor on the show. It's not close.

Brandon having his moments does not disqualify him from being the worst. Not that Alegria doesn’t have him in a dead heat.

It doesn’t help that both characters are ranging from just unsympathetic to complete assholes from a writing standpoint as well.

And Vernon has been exposed as a typical elite.

Brandon Claybon is a better actor than Alex Alegria, but so is Ronn Moss lol when it comes to who is the RM of the show, it has to be Claybon. RM was never just a line-reader like AA. He made some peculiar choices, and BC has made some, too.

Ronn Moss had that rich playboy character archtype down pat.. and he was appealing to watch (Charisma is probably even more important then good acting is).

Brandon Claybon has that rich elitist vibe down pat.. and he carries himself off as someone that thinks he's superior to everyone.. including his spouse Smitty.  So his anxious panic attacks fit with the character.

Alex A... has the player vibe down.. but he isn't bringing anything beyond that to the role.... I put him and the actress that plays Chelsea on the same level acting wise.

No, I still think Alegria is considerably worse.

I agree completely -- to the point that I think it's unfair to mention Brandon Claybon in the same discussion with Alex Alegria.

Claybon has had some "That Is Not Good" moments, but he's also been solid in others. I think he wanted to do a particular take on Martin from the beginning and that it took a while for it to work, and a while for us to accept it.

Alegria has been bad from the start, to the point where I feel bad for being so critical. I looked at his acting resume, and I cannot believe he's still in the business. Every line reading is flat, from saying "Yes, Boss" to Bill all the way to a sex scene with Kat.

That sex scene should have resonated MUCH more with the audience than it did. That it didn't register much at all isn't because of Colby Muhammad, that's for sure.

Completely agree.

Brandon Claybon can emote with his eyes so he has acting ability. His line readings might be stilted at times, but he's been able to handle the material for the most part.

Is Alex worse than Brandon? I'm not sure. Alex hasn't exactly been given anything meaty for me to judge. Overall, he is not good. His scenes with Kat are a bit robotic, but so are Brandon's. There have been moments when Brandon has definitely been fair, and did an okay-ish job, but I'm not going to play myself and say he's done well or is a good actor at this stage. Those big scenes have been particularly rough for him and I am not sure how anyone would think they were good, but different strokes and all that.

The only difference is that I wouldn't care if Tomas was recast whereas I would care if they recast Martin.

There have been way more demands placed on Brandon, acting wise than Alex, and he has been unsteady in some of he more dramatic moments for sure.

But Alex has trouble with even the most mundane scenes. Watching him interact with Timon, for example is such a contrast. The latter fully inhabits the character and has all sorts of body language and facial expressions at play, even when not speaking.

Whereas Alex just stands there and waits to say his lines.

I do feel sorry to be ragging on him.

And why hasn't our other great thespian Ben Gavin entered the discussion?

LOL - touche. Maybe he's safe now since he's around our favorite Shanice :P

Decided to tune back in but I did a time jump instead of starting off where I left off (around April). Starting at the July 15th episode.

Right off the bat I am wondering why Martin and Smittys children look so old.
