Visually the casting works. I’ve learned from how much better Rory is on GH, that Conner might actually be pretty good away from JG’s writing.

VERY. His character was a legacy character, too, so there was no reason for him being wasted. I said it on other threads, but I feel all soaps need that good guy cop/hero character.

 

Yet here is JG trying to make him into a businessman for one of his 'stories' when the character has never shown a desire for it. That the story was a repeat of another (better done at that) story JG did two years ago almost verbatim did not help. 

 

As for his romances, I felt he had sparks in his last one though they never wrote for it until it was ending and those scenes were some of the most adult conversations his character had, revealing he was too good for her anyway. But I blame that on the writing, too. I definitely can already see him with Cat, too, and he's a tall one if I'm not mistaken. 

 

Have we mentioned (like Rory Gibson, too) how hot he is? lol. But JG had no use for him with all the ladies running around?

So who can from DOOL or GH can Y&R cast as Chance?

I still don't understand why Y&R dropped Chance. They tried to move him into the business stuff,deemed that as not working and then made him recurring.

They would prefer to keep recycling stories for characters who have been on for decades.

Y&R: DG is 53, BF is 40.

DAYS: BF is 40, CF is 32!

Sony is definitely buying into this de-aging thing... Just sayin'

We need Maria Arena Bell back to teach those "honoring history" classes...

- Why is Y&R so obsessed with Chancellor as a business (which was not a big thing for most of Katherine's glory years) yet has so little use for her actual family (aside from retcon Devon, I suppose)? 

- Why does everyone on Y&R need to be involved in business? Bill Bell never wanted that. I don't even think he would have wanted Nikki to be a businesswoman, but at least MTS makes it fun. Can you imagine if Josh Griffith and the rest were writing his old stories? Sally and Pierre, Casey, Brock, Marge...all warring over companies in coffee shops. 

I feel a little bad for Conner as we won't even get to see his work for almost a year. What if Flynn's move to Y&R is a flop and he doesn't last that long - a lot of fans are going to be clamoring for him to return to DAYS as they won't even see what his replacement is doing. Still, a job is a job, and I can see why Conner would jump at the chance for a steadier gig. 

A part of me agrees with those who think Chad needed a rest, but he already seems to have been deemphasized as it is, and the show does need a more "normal" branch of the Dimeras if the family is going to stay around (plus the inevitable Abigail return). 

I wish Conner a lot of luck, either way.

Maybe they can find some primetime name that never was happy for a gig.

Or maybe Guy Wilson, who seems happy enough to step in for brief roles (just give him a haircut).

I do wonder if anyone at Y&R wonders if they should use the younger male talent they have if they are just going to get hired elsewhere.

In some ways, but they still emphasize quite a few vets (I'd argue too many in Y&R's case).

It's unlikely they give a crap about the character. Unless the character is on contract, I don't see why they even need to find money in the budget to pay a day player for a character they haven't given any real attention to, regardless of who the head writer or executive producer is in charge.

Has anyone calculated how long this means Chad will be gone from Salem?  Billy Flynn mentioned having a "good-bye" scene with Julie.  So, I wonder if we could estimate based on the filming schedule and the announcement how long it will be between BF-Chad and CF-Chad?

I think we have discussed or picked on it in the regular thread from time to time. This show is THE YOUNG and the Restless, but outside of Kyle, JG never seems to want to write for the young cast at all or he ships them off before they get traction even when they have potential (Noah, Allie). I just smh.

I don't get it, either. But it is sad how there are Chancellors in town and JG doesn't want to write for them.

Well, I'm sure that JG can get a year of story out of BF especially since he's taking it from Damian so by the time BF's Cane flops, CF's Chad should be appearing.

 

I have no horse in the race with how Chad is being used. I didn't jump to Peacock when the show did and now that I'm trying to keep up with the new writers, so far (i'm waaaay behind) he's not bugging me. And I thought Anna was a great choice as Cat and she was giving me Abby vibes so I can see why they had a story where people thought she was Abby back from the dead. Hehe. Abby will so come back at some point. She's like the Jean Grey of the young adult set.
