The material is not great, but they aren't either. They're bad.

But we've seen in the past that actors can improve over time, especially with good material.  A quick example that comes to mind is Ari Zuker on DAYS. She was god awful in the beginning but she turned out to be a pretty good actress.  And yeah, there are examples where actors don't improve.  But I think it's fair to give them a chance, especially more than 6-7 episodes.

Why not both?

Like I said before, Bill is no prize.

It does feel like the calls for recasts are way too soon to me. It’s been 2 weeks and a day.

People cheating on a soap opera?!?! The horror! The horror! 🙄

I think Ted is going to eventually be one of the most interesting characters. Especially if he does have a twin that is alive.

I feel the opposite of some. Today won me over with Dani officially with the posing for the mug shot. She can be exhausting but she is a fun character. Her being pathetic for Bill annoys me but it also makes her more human to me and less one note.

I will say I started off really liking Naomi and Jacob but they are working less for me with Naomi. I wish one Dupree would think logically and I was hoping it would be her. Also we really need some Naomi and Hayley scenes before Hayley can be any kind of redeemed.

I am accepting the pace and Ive never liked long drawn out paces on these shows but I do worry about Leslie being overexposed too fast. I don't want her written into a corner by May.

Cheating on soaps ain't the problem. The problem is the repetition of it in this particular case.

- Going to commercial on Martin trying to buck up to Bill made me HOLLER with laughter, ya hear??

I howled, too, since Bill is so much taller.

And as ridiculous as Martin really is, I still can’t help but find him extremely sexy with that ghetto booty. I know Smitty was tapping tf outta that in better days.

You already know hehe. Many of us have talked about the Martin actor being "not so good," but I'm kind of taken with him now. First and foremost, Dat Ass. Secondly, he's got a cadence and vibe unlike anyone else. I'll give it time and I want him around.

Sigh. This is hard to argue with. I kind of feel sorry for Jacob being stuck with her.

Say it again from the cheap seats in the back! I will keep repeating it: NO RECASTS. Not this soon. I don't even want to discuss them.

Its not the same tho. At least not yet.

Bill has been established as a serial cheater. We still know next to nothing about Ted or Ted and Leslie's history. Maybe let the story play out.

Vernon is especially infuriating. You were in the trenches during the civil rights movement, and you’re comparing your psychotic daughter getting rightly arrested for shooting up a wedding to the systemic racism you and your contemporaries were fighting against??

Yeah that bothered me, too.

I'm glad that everyone is enjoying this show. 🙂 I've finally been able to watch some episodes, though not the very first ones. (I have it scheduled to record the earlier ones when they re-air later on) I started watching like episode 7 tonight on demand and went up to like episode 10. I will probably watch today's and tomorrow's one tomorrow. While I haven't seen all of the episodes yet, I think that I have enough of a handle on what's going on so far.

Some thoughts:

This is a very good-looking cast. Tamara looks great with her long silvery hair and her daughters/granddaughters all look great. I'm also glad to see that Clifton is aging well.

I really enjoying Eva. I think she may actually be my favorite character so far/ definitely one of my favorites. I like her "vibe" and style and how she's able to go toe to toe with Kat. I think she has good chemistry with Ted and even Nicole and I'm wondering how everything will play out. Maybe Nicole will actually have some sympathy for her when the truth comes out. Maybe they will take her in once everything blows up with Leslie, causing even more tension with Kat and their family. I also wonder if they may be some sort of twist to her paternity/maternity.

I'm liking Leslie as well and wonder how things will end up shaking out between her and Nicole. I could also see Leslie going up against Anita at some point, heck maybe she may try and make a play for Vernon later on. I feel like she could play off/go against some of the older characters.

Martin's behavior with Smitty was rough. I actually expected him to soften his stance a little during their conversation, but he doubled down on it and came across as controlling. Also, a bit antiquated. There are several real life politicians who have ran for office in recent years who have had very successful spouses in the workforce. Including people who have married attorneys, doctors, etc... Plus, when the children involved are a bit older, it makes his argument even weaker. I don't see that relationship ending well. He is giving shades of his uncle Bill, but I don't even Bill talked that roughly with Dani when he asked her to give up her career in the beginning.

I'm loving Nicole and enjoying her and Ted's relationship. DD is doing a great job in the role.

I don't think that Hayley has a strong presence, and I can do without the McBride's and their storylines. I don't care too much for either one of them or their loveless marriage. I wouldn't mind seeing more of Mona, Ashley's mom Jan and Nurse Shanice. They all come across as more realistic, down to earth minor characters.

And now I will say a couple of things that may be unpopular. I like Ashley and her personality and actually don't care much for Andre. I don't think he much chemistry with Dani, or with Ashley either.  I think he needs to be fleshed out more and maybe they will do that.

I also thought Eva was older than Kat and that he left Leslie for Nicole. I’m looking forward to getting a clearer timeline.

This is my thought as well.

I'm wondering about the timeline as well. I also thought that Eva was older than Kat. But I also wonder how Martin fits into this timeline. He's older than Kat and seems/looks older than Eva as well. I can't buy Martin as being younger than Eva or even around the same age, as her. (If they were going to try and say that Ted had kids by both Leslie/Nicole around the same time. And if that were the case, I'd be more incline to believe that were Eva/Kat than Eva/Martin.)

Unless there is something I missed about Martin from an episode, I haven't seen yet.

It’s like he got lost on his way to the set of Passions circa 2004. I do like the distressed way he says “Smittyyyyy.”

With each episode Hayley's wardrobe gets tackier. She looks like Naomi Harper 2025. That aside she's becoming aware that Bill isn't letting go of Dani. He was ready to call the police after he overheard Dani say that she was letting go of him. He likes Dani chasing after him and will do whatever it takes to keep that up.

Actually they can keep you longer than if they can convince a judge that you are still a threat yourself or others. Ergo, 48 hours minimum, or 48 hours maximum without a judge's order depending on jurisdiction.

❤️

Yes, you are right. What I was trying to speak of is that at that 48 hour point they have to release you OR have a hearing where you & they have an opportunity to say whatever to a judge to try to convince them of a point of view, etc.
