The original article with Valentine's Day spoilers from Stephanie Sloane for tvinsider,
listed every character's full name, and also every actor's first and last names.

For GH we now know that the tvinsider Valentine's Day spoilers for GH will air Tues. Feb. 18.

For simplicity of posting the spoilers abovethread, I omitted the actors' names because why would we need them? Well... the original tvinsider article did say that it would be Jonathan Jackson as Lucky Spencer...
"Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson) and Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) kiss!"
The tvinsider article also has a BTS pic of JJ and Rebecca Herbst as Lucky and Elizabeth.
But actually that BTS photo is from early October 2024.

And, as already reported on other threads, there is a temp recast (Guy Wilson) as Lucky for "a handful of episodes", starting Feb. 18th.
So ... the Elizabeth/Lucky kiss... is with the temp actor Guy Wilson.
The Feb 18 episode was accidentally uploaded a few days early online in Canada, and some viewers saw it and posted screenshots on their social media, before the episode was taken down.

Jon could be recurring on both soaps. Wally Kurth does it with DAYS & GH.

This is the first picture with Chris McKenna that has sparked interest among the many disappointed Charles Mesure fans, at least as far as I have seen. So, maybe Valentines will be good for this recast.

About the TV Insider website, so many fans complain that it is difficult to navigate. Recently a fan has suggested that using Reader's View solves many of its problems. I haven't tried it yet but I intend doing so.

I would never say NBC News Daily is doing well or respectable ratings. It's almost always in last place. I would also never say never about NBC not doing another daytime soap. Anything can happen and with everything happening in Hollywood and the media landscape, truly nothing would surprise me.

BTG: April 2026 Discussion Thread

Yeah, I don't need the show to acknowledge Chris Van Hollen (my former Senator for many years!) or anything like that. That's just never been something daytime does. Short of an occasional president soaps rarely acknowledge actual IRL elected officials while they're in office unless they're bringing on a special guest. I don't think that's some break with acceptable TV reality or talking down to anyone. It's just not germane or necessary for narrative purposes, particularly when you're using politician characters. (Nor do I need Martin to say onscreen that he's a Democrat - Helen Keller could figure that out.)
There's not a new set of rules for BTG where they must acknowledge any and all IRL politicians locally in order to form a responsible compact with the audience. Forget using pop stars or music or referencing movies, that's a different sphere. We never once expected this kind of adherence to current government seatholders from ATWT, GL, AW, etc. when they dealt with political stories lol, so I don't see why we would start now. That's an impossible and unrealistic standard IMO.

Loving/The City Discussion Thread

I always assumed the Jeff / Trisha 1993 exit was intended to build natural conflict when Trisha would return to Corinth. Of course, that day never came and it felt odd. The dramatic value of Trisha having amnesia, falling in love with a "reformed" Jeff, and then having to deal not only with the life she left behind, but the lies Jeff told her was probably the reason they went that route.
I don't really love this era, but some episodes from 1989 popped up:

Janey was great and, I suspect, an unfortunate victim of the crossover from Agnes Nixon to Laurie McCarhty and Addie Walsh. For years, I have heard that the original (or one of the original) plans for Ava was to make her biracial. Janey seemed to be Agnes Nixon's attempt to make that version of the Erica/Ava mold happen. I thought that Janey was a well integrated character in a time when a lot of characters were islanded in stories. She seemed to just flow through stories. I love when she claimed she was Clay's daughter for a hot minute.
Babbin was pretty blunt in her Loving interviews. She took the job as a favor to Agnes Nixon and was only staying one year, which is what she did. On air, Fran Sears takes over in July, 1991. In her interviews, Babbin was pretty clear about her dislike of the show she inherited. Said it was nothing more than a Dynasty clone and that it needed its own identity.
Under Babbin, a large number of the cast were cut. Wesley Addy's Cabot dies. Augusta Dabney's Isabelle leaves Corinth for Palm Springs. Stan Albers' Curtis is sent to Iraq. Perry Stephens is dumped and replaced by Christopher Cass. She also wrote out Egypt and Alex Masters.
She brought on a lot of character actors in bit parts. I remember there was a district attorney who was fairly well known. Harvey Fierstein played a hypnotist. Ilene Kristen was on as Norma.
Class distinctions started to be present again. Shana was broughtback. Carly Rescott was introduced. Patrick and Rose Donovan were back occassionally for the first time in years.
Storywise, you had Trisha lose Trucker's baby and the adoption of little Tommy, which led to the blackmail scheme of Monty and his subsequent murder mystery. Carly was hiding that she had Paul's baby in high school. Dane was manipulating an amnesiac Shana after Jim and Jimmy died. Cabot died and there was in fighting over the family fortune. Kate and Louie married. Rio and Rocky (nearly?) married to prevent Rio's deporation. Alex and Egypt's daughter Alexis had a medical crisis. There are probably other stories, but I don't recall.

You're right. In fact, "It's just a soap" NEVER works. Having low expectations of a television show because "it's just a soap" is insulting to a genre that is almost a century old (including radio serials). And it is insulting to the fans. Personally, I want and expect the soap operas I watch to be written as well and as intelligently as possible.
