The In Memoriam segment at the next Daytime Emmys is really going to hit hard.

One of the best to ever do it.

I do think they'll do something nice for the memorial. Like Vee said, whatever issues there are with Frank at GH (there are many), the tributes in recent years have been lovely and classy.

It would be cute if Sean Kanan reprised AJ to "welcome" Monica into Heaven, the same way Natalia Livingston did as Emily, along with Edward, Lila and Alan.

This is where I'd bring A.J. back again tbh, but that's not going to happen and I don't think it's really appropriate for me to discuss potential story atm.

You're right, it isn't appropriate, but it is human nature. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Well, I don't know what else to say except this is a huge blow to GH and to the entire industry and my heart goes out to all who've been affected personally by her loss.

I definitely agree with @Vee and with others that GH wouldn't have become the powerhouse show that it was throughout the late '70's and '80's without Leslie Charleson.  The Lesley/Rick/Monica/Alan storyline was one of daytime's best, and it all had to do with the performances from everyone involved, including Charleson, who had to remain empathetic for the audience as Monica, even as Monica was doing some very ugly things to hold onto Rick.

Leslie Charleson was, is and always will be a legend to everyone who cares about the soaps.  May she RIP.

One of the blessings of YouTube is how much classic stuff we can watch. And that confrontation between Monica and Lesley about Rick is iconic. I am so happy that I have now seen most of the entire storyline.

LC was visceral in those scenes. And because of the shady nature of the Quartermaines in the 70’s and 80’s, she got to play a character that was complex and wasn’t always a good person within those dynamics. But she was rootable and always worth watching. They all were. It was part of their charm.

She really did follow the lead of Anna Lee's Lila as the Matriarch of the Quartermaine family, and always matched against Jane Elliot's Tracy in terms of having the zestiness for the Quartermaines, etc.

I have many, many issues with Frank Valentini's stewardship of GH, but I'll never forget what he did for many vets over the years to pay respect to them, starting with what he did in John Ingle's final days which was reported in great detail by his grateful family. I never forgot either the seemingly spontaneous applause for Rachel Ames when she appeared at the nurses' station during the anniversary in 2013. I don't believe she knew about it; she looked very surprised. And the tributes for Jackie, for Sonya Eddy, for John Reilly, etc. were wonderful and kind.

GH has many glaring flaws but they kept Monica very involved in recent years before Leslie's recent injury and illness, with the Qs and at the hospital. They endeavored to keep her involved any way they could, via voice or by brief appearances in the last couple years. I am grateful to FV and to GH for that.

I knew this was probably coming but it's still very sad. Leslie was vital to revitalizing this show and making it a generational force, and to modernizing soaps in general, as others have noted re: recent discussion of Love is a Many Splendored Thing and her work there. I held out hope we could see her one last time.

Totally agree. Not a fan of his leadership but I do like his involvement of the veteran cast.

The most underrated and perhaps best couple in General Hospital. This long-lasting marriage fueled great years of toxic television. Rip to Monica and Alan Quartermaine.
