I concur that the offhanded red carpet quote has been misinterpreted.

DH is too much of a pro to engage in derisive gossip to a journalist on camera.

I would add that the immediacy of his departure has been misconstrued. I am reminded of Errol's admonishment that production may have respected RonC enough not to release a statement before the end of his contract cycle.  So, it may have seemed more conflictual than what it was in actuality.

What is meant here by "conflictual"? I mean I know it means disagreement. But, what is the supposed disagreement about?

They may have approved it thinking hey that sounds like a nice throwback story (even though the OG story was bad) but may [!@#$%^&*] hits fan down the road? We’ll have witness what Ron’s March Madness looks like 🤣😂

Oh I’m worried lol

And I’m worried about BTG too. But I’m also glad that we have a lot to look forward to for Days.

I've always assumed that he knew he was on his way out when he set up this Body & Soul storyline. It just seems like a passive-aggressive jab at the show and the industry in general. They might've just told him his contract wasn't going to get renewed and that was that.

Legally didn't firing him have to match up with a contract cycle date?

Or, a new producer wanted her own writing staff, his friend Michele Val Jean had been announced as head of a new soap, and he didn't want to take a paycut (like the actors) to write for a streaming service.

I'm simply suggesting that the narrative has been too one-sided against a guy with years of experience, a huge beachhouse, and a very nice life on the East Coast.  Because there's little evidence to suggest that the new producer is making decisions based upon good taste in dramatic structure (i.e. some of the new actors that she's hired).😎

This is purely speculation on my part, but I’m really starting to wonder if Ron was attempting a suicide mission with Body&Soul, Connie, Leo, Fake Rafe 2.0, etc., but luckily Corday and Janet realized what was happening and fired his ass. What do y’all think?

He probably wanted to get out of the Peacock, where all indicators are that Days has a miniscule audience compared to when it was on NBC. He's now writing again for a major network, not as a headwriter but still making the $$ to keep living in the Hamptons.

Ron will be fine. He's written daytime pretty much continuously for almost 30 years. A headwriter's stories have to be approved by higher ups before it hits the air but that gets forgotten.

Will and Sonny coming back to Salem would be one of my pitches! 😂

I would have fired Janet Drucker for doing NOTHING to make the show look better.

Sorry, but I can't go along with some scenario that Ron C wanted out. He was fired.

I also highly doubt he's making more on the writing staff at BTG than he was as HW on Days.

I'd fire her for that too!

The show looks horrible.

That's not exactly what Deidre Hall said at all. She said she thought that's what sent the "writer" away. Her exact quote was:

Body & Soul is done, and I think that's what sent Ron away. ❞

DH was being kind and diplomatic. She essentially said he was fired. Ron C did not "quit" because of his own Body & Soul storyline.

-- BTW, we've seen Leo flirt like a crazy queen with EVERY hot guy on this show, but Doug 3 gets no love at all???

Doug 3 barely seems to be awake in his scenes, I can hardly imagine the actor trying to flirt.

Given Ron's huge ego it's hard to believe he'd willingly leave to go write for someone else, even if they are a friend. Based on the quality of his work for the last fifteen years, the idea of him shrugging and coasting his way over to another soap may be worse than him being fired.

I've enjoyed much of what I've seen for Doug's death and Christmastime.

I also semi-enjoyed the Titan storyline, though I don't love John Paul Lavoisier's choice to play Philip like he's Jim Carrey in Liar, Liar. He has a lot of tics and flails about...no child of Kate Roberts and Victor Kiriakis would do that...he has decent chemistry with Lauren Koslow but that's because of her, she could have chemistry with a potato. I think they clumsily wrote out Louise Sorel...it's like they didn't contract her long enough, she needed a couple of more episodes for it to make sense.

The Leo stuff is nauseous. The Brady/Kristen stuff is not compelling to me at all. I agree that Kristen is played out. However, whenever they address Drake's passing, I do hope Eileen Davidson will return as Kristen and Stacy can play Susan for the memorial.

It must have been excruciating writing around Drake's illness. Deidre looks so sad playing those scenes. I did enjoy the mention of Sami being jealous about Marlena switching calls to speak to Carrie. Nice touch.

Still really enjoy Jackee's role on the show, and it appears she has hit the Ozempic because she's looking great and way healthier. The present Paulina gave Abe was a nice nod to Bill Bell, Harding Lemay, and Agnes Nixon. Very meta for one of the books to be about DAYS...

Instead of doing a suicide mission, he just decided to wreck the place on his way out?

Lol could be. Anything’s possible

Ron’s ego aside, I can’t see any person willingly taking that much of a pay cut.

I wouldn’t.
