‘The Young & The Restless’ Casts Valarie Pettiford As New Amy Lewis

EXCLUSIVE: Amy Lewis is coming back to Genoa City.

Deadline has learned that veteran TV actress Valarie Pettiford will take over the role that was first created by Stephanie E. Williams in 1983. Details on why Amy is returning are being kept under wraps for now.

Pettiford’s first air date as a recurring character is Tuesday, October 29. This marks her return to daytime after portraying Sheila Price on One Life to Live from 1990-94.

Pettiford is currently a series regular on the BET+ series The Family Business and has a recurring role on CBS’ The Equalizer. She’s also set appear in the upcoming holiday movie, Too Many Christmases.

Once again Y&R seems to have issues with how they bring in legendary black talent.

I am glad Valerie is joining the show but why Amy? I really liked Amy, but what is she going to be without Nathan, Paul or Andy? They likely are not bringing back Tyrone or Jazz either. Did she even have any other relationships on the show? Is this going to be a retcon where we find out she had a child with Neil?

There was something special about Stephanie Williams as Amy. I don't think she ever really fit in on OLTL (not helped by the complete lack of interest the show had in her) but she clicked on Y&R. I'm sorry if the show sees her work as so irrelevant. If she declined to return, they should have left the role retired.

That's what I thought!  So glad I'm not the only one who remembered that, lol!

I agree.

What's next?  Harrison Ford joins the show as Jed Andrews?  (IYKYK, lol).
