Johnny Wactor -- an actor best known for appearing in nearly 200 episodes of "General Hospital" -- has died, TMZ has learned.

Wactor was shot and killed in downtown Los Angeles early Saturday morning, his mother Scarlett tells TMZ. She says Johnny was with a coworker when they saw three men trying to steal Wactor's catalytic converter.

Extremely sad. I logged on Facebook and saw it on the top my feed and was stunned. 

I didn't mind him as Brando and felt he would have a promising career post-GH. 

May he RIP.

Just a few days ago I was reading about Brando and his son as I was not watching GH in that period and didn't read a lot about it either and I kept thinking it all sounded so tragic.

And now I read this.
