Not a great cliffhanger.  Brady's blowhard attitude toward Holly comes off as less convincing than EJ's suspicions about Tate.  I mean EJ really thought that Tate was a drug dealer, whereas Brady knows that Holly was conflicted about Tate being in a halfway house.  BTW - I thought Tate's costume and posture went a long way to make him look younger.  They made him shorter than Brady and smaller in stature.  If I didn't know anything about the actor, I wouldn't question an age difference between him and Holly.

Some questions remain:

  1. How does Tate have friends in Salem?  He didn't grow up or go to school there.  He was in town for less than a month before he was hauled off to jail.  So, who is he hanging around with and why do they judge him?
  2. Again, why does Holly suddenly have romantic feelings for Tate?
  3. Is Marlena's penthouse walking distance from the Dimera mansion?  That ai map really doesn't make sense in the context of this episode.

Also, wasn't there a scene in the pub a few months ago where Stefan talked to Chad, and Chad blew up at the mention of Clyde?  Why is he acting as if Stefan's being blackmailed by Clyde is a surprise?

Finally, why does it seem like Sloan is the least likely attorney that Jada would hire after the whole debacle with Talia and Colin?  I know Sloan helped Talia escape prosecution, but it is nuts that everyone in Salem seems to have just forgotten about this event.

I see no similarities between JMM and Leo Howard as Tate. None. I don't think his age is a problem, but I feel like we're watching a different character.

And yeah, it is absurd that we're now told that Holly feels romantic vibes for Tate. It's a 180 degree turn, and it just doesn't work.

I would argue that Tate's characteristics were not set in stone.  We were told he was a wild and crazy guy who got suspended because of stunts at boarding school.  However, all that we've seen so far is a sweet kid who is scared of breaking the rules, easily lead astray, and has a conflicted relationship with his mother.  So, the change in actors has not yet resulted in any personality change for Tate, because he didn't have that much of one to begin with.

The fact that one was blond and one is brunette seems to be the only difference.

Honestly, I need to give it more than a day with the new Tate.  Nothing immediately turned me off about him, but nothing was spectacular either.  I agree with everyone that Holly's romantic feelings for him came out of nowhere.  I can understand why she would have feelings for her after what he went through to protect her but we skipped from point A to point D in the romance without getting clear views from both Tate and Holly about the progression.

I didn't really think much of Jada using Sloan as a lawyer.  Jada needed a good lawyer quickly and I don't think it's crazy she called Sloan.  Justin may have been a better choice, but Jada doesn't really know Justin so it's not that odd to me.

I'll be honest, Leo doesn't actually bother me in scenes while he's at the Spectator.  He bothers me pretty much in any other scene, but Leo objectively has a job and a purpose at the Spectator so I'd rather he do that than shop and act creepy towards Jude.

I can kind of understand Everett not signing the divorce papers under a different name.  I am sure he has a more ulterior motive, but considering his circumstances I can understand his hesitance, especially since he didn't have his own lawyer.  The whole thing was completely sprung on him.

    • I’m hoping to start getting to know Vernon better this month. He’s really only been a bunch of noble and good tropes so far. I don’t want him to be taken down the way Ted has been, but it seems he was a long-running Senator and no matter what party you are, lasting longer than twenty years means you’re looking out for you (and not who you’re supposed to be looking out for) most of all. I want to get to know both Vernon and Anita beyond their Dupree posturing. Clifton Davis can sleepwalk handling the kind of material Christopher Bernau and David Lewis handled and I’d like to see more than just a saint.
    • I thought Emily/Hal was a really interesting pairing. And I think KMH played that version of Emily very well! It might not have been what people wanted from Emily, and the writing got pretty gross at the end, but I thought she embodied that character effectively.
    • Don't know if this exactly fits here, but it is connected: Does this abandoned building look familiar? It is one of those explorer videos - and the outside may look VERY familiar if one watched GH in the '70s and '80s!

    • So, I have been in the hospital all week. I am close to being up to date on my soaps. Now I have to go to the Infusion Ctr daily to get IV antibiotics, for 6 weeks. I am frankly exhausted. A hospital is no place to be when you're sick. Hooked up to machines that go beep beep beep all day & night long. Someone wakes you up every hour on the hour for something, either to stick you with needles or to take your gosh-awful blood pressure for the umpteenth time. So, you don't get any sleep. Now I have a central line, upper right chest. After they "installed" it, I said, I am now Borg. They just stared at me. Apparently scifi is not general knowledge. What happened? I have an infection inside my big toe right foot & it burned the skin on my foot. The burned skin is already better. It was like a bad sunburn. The infection inside the toe is the issue. Oral antibiotics won't even get its attention. So, IV antibiotics plus time.

As Salem bids farewell to John Black on Monday, the "Days" family and fans say a final goodbye to Drake Hogestyn.   From his time as a young man playing baseball in the minor leagues for the New York Yankees to his almost four-decade run as John Black, Drake always did his best. And, while becoming a soap opera icon, he spent almost 40 years at "Days" telling the best stories and taking the younger cast under his wing to make sure they would do their best as well. Thank you, Drake, for the legacy you have left for everyone at "Days." The impact you made on the cast, crew and fans will never be forgotten...and that's a fact.
    • I found an interview with Joseph Breen (Will Jeffries) where he mentions that Reva was put in a coma so Zimmer could go to Hollywood to do a pilot (OMG, if ONLY it had been picked up, LOL) and that Sonni and Josh and Will became a popular with the audience while she was out of commission.  If you want to read the whole thing: https://www.authorsden.com/visit/viewarticle.asp?id=47394 Breen was known for being very candid in interviews, I wish I could find more of them. I seem to recall he made a couple of snarky comments about Zimmer, implying she was not above acting like a diva. Sounded to me like he had a lot of respect for Forbes (who went on to have a very strong and varied career after GL).
    • I was so confused why Devon was prying into Nicks love life and then it clicked and I remembered they’re brother-in-laws. Shows how little I pay attention to this show anymore. I was like uh? Do these two even know each other this well?
    • The Bell soaps, B&B and Y&R: cannot watch. If I went by the last time I did I would have to give them both D- but I really don't think it counts when you're not a daily watcher.  DAYS: B+ (Now this is with the knowledge that for years I have given this show a D- because I've been a fan for too long to give it the F it deserved.) GH: A+ (With Korte driving this bus to me the show is so much better! IMO we just had the best NB in so many years I cannot count!) BTG: A solid (Things I love, a few I do not, nothing I hate, still find it in general remarkable.) As always, thanks for doing this thread. I count it. I always look for it & I always post.
    • Okay, I continue to maintain that what is so good about this particular reveal followed by umbrella storyline is that you can see & understand many different points of view where there is not one bad guy or one 100% right person.  About your stated opinion, that Lois & Gloria did the right thing, you know that this was technically an illegal adoption? For it to have been legal the father, if known, would have to have been informed & have signed off on terminating his own paternal rights. And, of course, it is clear how many people they lied to.  Personally I feel like Lois is going to take the biggest "public" blame with Lulu a close second in the blame category. I am looking forward to a tongue lashing I hope Brook Lynn gives to Gloria. I continue to be more than annoyed with Dante. First his attitude toward Gio with regards to Rocco & a drinking game & its results. Second his attitude toward Lulu. Meanwhile enjoying the show every day!
    • Lois and Gloria did the right thing I feel knowing it was Camila that raised Gio has BL feeling some jealousy No one is saying that Camila was a bad mother to Gio I believe it will be Gio saying that Camila was great to him, thanking Lois and Gloria to get BL to see truth
