I was just reading @JAS0N47's final script for Stephen on the BTS DAYS thread.  I did not recall that he romanced Mary Anderson (he was loosing end of a triangle with Chris Kostachek), and he knew Melissa as a child.

I'm sure he is coming for the funeral.  However, it would be intriguing if he turns out to be Everett's father, given Julie's affinity toward him.  But it seems like the reveal of Everett's past must occur before November.

Does anyone recall how we found out that Stephen had a son? Because it must have happened after he left Salem.

This is one hell of a blast from the past! Consider when he left the show in '79, I was turning 7 that year! (God, I'm old!)

I just wish he could have returned when Tom and Alice were still around, but I know. Another World.

I do hope [pardon the unintentional pun!] that Hope and Bo can/will also return. It would be such a trip to see Steven (Stephen?) with BOTH sisters! All of Addie Horton Olson Williams' kids together, as it were.

Quite bizarre really. A pity they waited so long to bring back Steve as he could have returned at any time to boost the Hortons. He was a blank slate character wise and could have been worked in many ways.

But the writers were always in favor of creating new characters instead of using what they had.

Spencer Olsen was mentioned when Julie returned for the 90-93 stint. she gave the impression he was a bit of a rascal, but any plans to bring him on were scuttled.

If only they nurtured the Hortons, Steve and Sandy's children/grandchildren could be major players today.

THE THREE FACES OF STEPHEN OLSON...

Please register in order to view this content

Here's a look at the three actors to have played Julie's brother, Stephen Olson: Flip Mark played Steve for 2 episodes in November 1965. James Carroll Jordan played Steve for 10 episodes in July and August 1972 (pictured with Mark Tapscott as Bob, Nancy Wickwire as Phyllis and Karin Wolfe as Mary); and Stephen Schnetzer (pictured with Susan Seaforth Hayes as Julie) played Steve for 115 episodes from June 1978 to December 1979. After a 45-year absence from the Salem canvas, Stephen Schnetzer will be taping his first episode of "Days" since 1979 this coming week, which will air much later in 2024. • I can barely remember who was the person they tested her with for the AMC revival but I *do* remember kinda liking them together (anyone remember better?  lol)  But yes, I feel the same.  It might not help that when I became a regular viewer Tad was presumed dead and she was with Craig...  I do remember that my sister's best friend had been an AMC viewer with her mom and dad and that they were very excited that Tad was returning... OK I instantly remembered that.  And now once again I'm sad about what coulda been with the reboot.
    • Well, that is weird. I do not see him but I only have him on Ignore on 2 accounts.
    • In the preview for the show back in February on Entertainment Tonight, Jeresa the costume designer was specific about each character's economic background, personality, and the character's personal fashion preferences.  Very much about the characters and not the actors. She said Eva is a thrifter, so her normal daily wardrobe would be something from a thrift store, and if BTG buys it new, they intentionally make it look used. So what you said fits about the type of thing a lower income person would buy for a fancy event.
    • As hard as it is for me to imagine anyone but Don Stewart as Mike Bauer...I dunno...maybe someone like "Adam-12"'s Kent McCord?  Or Robert Hogan?
    • Yep I don't hate Javi and then he's macking on Leo and I'm done with him. Leo is a failure who needs to go away   I am bracing myself for Alex reading the manuscript and imagining him and Stephanie as the main characters, because this couple has literally nothing else to do until Joy comes back showing
    • Oh yes. The towel scene though
    • Interesting that Donald May has been mentioned twice. He's on my dreamcast list for Alan. He was somewhat older than Stewart and Bernau, but he could have played either role. An actor I thought about for Mike was Dan Hamilton. He played a role on GL during the 60s, but enough time had passed that it shouldn't have been a problem. He usually played smarmy characters but it would have been cool if they had gone against typecasting.
    • I like Jed Allan, it has to be someone who can play authority but "good" authority to oppose Alan's bad. As mentioned upthread, can you imagine how it would have been with Alan and Mike against each other, with Roger in the mix. But I would have had Roger, ever the opportunist to try to take advantage of their fighting to make his own headway.  Maybe that could have been the storyline, Mike involved with Alex, but the constant fighting with Alan causes a rift (she like Mike fighting Alan when it is to her advantage, but he can be a bit self righteous and I can see him demanding her to disavow Alan publicly..) so that is how Roger lands in her bed, much to the consternation of BOTH Alan and Mike. I would like to have a woman of a certain age being fought over by two men (really three if you count Alan.
    • Please let May have less garbage time. The Y&R threads have shrunken, whereas I can barely keep up with the Beyond the Gates threads.
