There is so much diverse talent out there just waiting for a chance on a show like this. BTS and in front of the camera.

There is no point in creating a new soap unless they plan to be as modern and groundbreaking as they used to be in the days of Nixon. And I don’t mean ignoring the traditions of the genre. I mean taking a real risk again with story and characters, not just treading water with the most generic storytelling to least offend.

MVJ deserves this moment, possibly more than anyone else in daytime right now. She's paid her dues, and was never ever given a fair chance when she was promoted to HW at GH. She's written standout scripts for both GH and B&B, she's contributed to SL's even when she wasn't the HW, and spent years slugging it for people like Sally Sussman Morina, Pamela K. Long, the Labine's, Guza, and finally Brad Bell. She's as talented, if not more, than those whose work she often uplifted. This is her chance and I hope this succeeds and she's given the creative freedom and respect she deserves.

CBS has been very conservative in daytime so this seems like a shift in philosophy.

They have a traditionally older audience who they seem to cater for eg the soft pedalling/back burner of the lesbian couple of Y&R and rejection of any story that deals with current issues. Maybe alot of that is Sony also.

Getting affiliates on board and making the show profitable would the major issues beyond the content of the show itself.

How about a 1 or 2 week nightime launch in Summer before moving to daytime?

    • Jill's descent into madness is one of the storylines that made Knots Landing go off the rails in the aftermath of Laura departure. The other two were Charles Scott and Johnny Rourke.
    • You're welcome @Paul Raven. There was also the CBS schedule change of February 4, 1980, when an expanded Y&R moved from noon ET to 1 pm ET, and the local programming half hour moved from 1 pm ET to noon ET.
    • This has to be some kind of sick joke, it just has to be......Please tell me it is a joke!!!

    • I was the Beyond the Gates Facebook page and they are speculating about Mike Manning's and Brandon Claybon's real life sexual preferences. I have to sit back and laugh out loud at the pure ignorance. Supposedly, Brandon Claybon is reluctant to kiss Mike Manning because he's married to a woman.

I just can't. Thank God, most people who post on this site have some sense.
    • Jill’s evolution (or devolution?) is interesting. I didn’t even realize she made a couple innocuous appearances as early as the latter half of Season 6. I probably need to do a more thorough rewatch because tangled web Peter weaved sometimes left me so confused and still does…like Gary knowing about Jill being Peter’s sister and all the lies but everyone else acted so oblivious. Obviously the two things that set Jill off the deep end; First was Abby’s threat “The first Mrs Ewing never goes away” and second was seeing Greg use the urn of Peter’s ashes being uses a set decoration/paper weight which she of course stole.

    • That was my thought as well.  I realize Cameron Faulkner always came across as controlling and manipulative, but good lord.  They made him do everything short of killing a puppy on his way out, lol.
    • According to reports, dating to the original report by The Sun, Ben Mitchell was at the top of the list for Ben Wadley to return to the canvas and wanted to give Max Bowden a second chance at the role. Daily Mirror and Radio Times, among others, are further reporting on the return, so I suspect this brief return is going to test some waters. I'm probably in the minority, but I liked Bowden as Ben and hope to see him further excel in the role this time around. Digital Spy is now reporting Bowden's return as Ben Mitchell.
    • Hmmm… are they ever better than the DVD rips we have in tha vault?

    • I don’t think they had to recast Charley. My impression at the time was that they didn’t feel Jo Anderson didn’t fit the perky/cute persona that they wanted/needed when Julianne Phillips left the show.
