To me, the character descriptions is making this show sound kind of Tyler Perry-ish. Is that good, bad, or neutral?

Neutral I'd say. I feel like some Tyler Perry shows look good on paper and in theory, but his script writing abilities are incredibly subpar and ruins any potential.

I agree.  It always comes down to execution in the end.

Well that and Perry shoots 22 episode seasons in two-weeks. That, to me, is insane.

It *is* insane, and one of the many reasons why I think most of his stuff is pure junk.  Yet, it seems his core audience - mostly older, African-American women who love them some Jesus - can't get enough of it.  *shrug*

Granted, I liked The Oval in its first and second seasons, but I've tuned out since then. It's a crying shame he does not allow other talent the opportunity to write and/or produce in his projects, because it would be a real door opener.

Even worse, I've heard TP complain in the past how he was "forced" to take on other writers but that their work didn't meet his standards.  Bruh, I seriously doubt there's a writer alive who writes worse than you, lol.

I mean, do we have to go that far? Some daytime writers would like a word with this statement, LOL.

Yes.  Even daytime's answer to Rip Taylor, Ron Carlivati, understands how to structure a story and even a scene better than Tyler Perry.

I'd rather watch Perry than the "writer", honestly.

I’m just going to hold positive thoughts and vibes for a well written show with high production values, ground-breaking subject matter and the proper people put in place to make this all happen. No comment on the rest.
