Hey, they mentioned a conflict of interest in regards to EJ! I’m no legal expert, but that sounds like the perfect grounds for an appeal, to me.

One thing I’m liking about the show lately is the realism and realistic reactions that characters have been having. They’ve been injected into pretty much every script so far, and a lot of the scenes today were no different. Also, they seemed to have remembered that Theresa is a mother

I have to give a shout out to Dan Feuerriegel too. He played the villain really well today, practically made me hate EJ.

Btw, shut up Alex.

His anti-Justin attitude seemed to come out of nowhere. Sort of like Holly’s jump to hard drugs. That’s one thing that I think the scab writers need to work on. These ideas aren’t bad, but they need to do a better job at establishing them.

Switching gears, Tripp is such a sweet guy and he and Wendy did well today too, but their whole storyline is stupid. Ava and her crap shouldn’t be the spoiler for them. Johnny and Chanel should have been lol I still don’t understand how characters, on any soap, can pretty much turn off the feelings that they have for someone once they start a new relationship.

3.8/10

I keep having to remind myself why Alex is so caught up in Tate's case.  I realize it is because of Theresa, but that's a bit of a stretch.  Give her some cash for a lawyer and move on.  And if he hired another attorney, why didn't they ever show up?  Why not consult Sloan?

I was also distracted by EJ's terrible haircut.  Why would a grown man be sporting a fade?  WEHT quiet luxury?  Although, I guess he's correct that it would be easy to prove that Tate called his father prior to calling 911.  But, also how often is Tate going to have to change his clothes in one day?

The highlight was the sad goodbye for Wendy.  I mean, she worked at the police station for about one day, where her major task was clearing Rafe's cache, so I understand at least part of her need to move on.  The Jenga reference was also a little obscure.  The pacing is much more noticeable when Tripp/Wendy or Ava/Harris break up because there was barely any time to get invested in them as a couple.

First episode this week that I fast forwarded 2/3 of the show. I've never cared for Xander and Sarah as a couple nor individually. Tripp is adorable as hell but he and Wendy are boring.

The Tate story was the winner again with much better writing from the scabs.

Not to step on your joke, but EJ specifically said that they were prosecuting Tate as an adult for not calling 911 right away.  They can prove from his cell phone records that Tate called Brady first, and then Brady called 911.  And the argument, which I am not defending, just defining, is that Holly may have had fewer side effects if she was treated with Narcan right away.

It is an especially f-ed up social issues story because at the same time that they are trying to inform the audience about the use of Narcan, they are also telling Reefer Madness stories about crooked judges and prison brutality.  There's not a lot of justice being served in Salem.  But, an interesting fact, the DEA found that, of the fake prescription pills analyzed in 2022, six out of ten contain a potentially lethal dose of fentanyl. So, lesson learned, get your pills straight from the pharmacy, not the alley of your local bistro.  At least, I think that is what DAYS is trying to teach us.

But, it is such a real, relatable issue because as a teen Tate's 1st thought was how he could best handle things to keep her from getting into a whole lotta trouble. Obviously a way of thinking that is not the best decision making process but yet it definitely is very human & teenagerish!

    • I’m hoping to start getting to know Vernon better this month. He’s really only been a bunch of noble and good tropes so far. I don’t want him to be taken down the way Ted has been, but it seems he was a long-running Senator and no matter what party you are, lasting longer than twenty years means you’re looking out for you (and not who you’re supposed to be looking out for) most of all. I want to get to know both Vernon and Anita beyond their Dupree posturing. Clifton Davis can sleepwalk handling the kind of material Christopher Bernau and David Lewis handled and I’d like to see more than just a saint.
    • I thought Emily/Hal was a really interesting pairing. And I think KMH played that version of Emily very well! It might not have been what people wanted from Emily, and the writing got pretty gross at the end, but I thought she embodied that character effectively.
    • Don't know if this exactly fits here, but it is connected: Does this abandoned building look familiar? It is one of those explorer videos - and the outside may look VERY familiar if one watched GH in the '70s and '80s!

    • So, I have been in the hospital all week. I am close to being up to date on my soaps. Now I have to go to the Infusion Ctr daily to get IV antibiotics, for 6 weeks. I am frankly exhausted. A hospital is no place to be when you're sick. Hooked up to machines that go beep beep beep all day & night long. Someone wakes you up every hour on the hour for something, either to stick you with needles or to take your gosh-awful blood pressure for the umpteenth time. So, you don't get any sleep. Now I have a central line, upper right chest. After they "installed" it, I said, I am now Borg. They just stared at me. Apparently scifi is not general knowledge. What happened? I have an infection inside my big toe right foot & it burned the skin on my foot. The burned skin is already better. It was like a bad sunburn. The infection inside the toe is the issue. Oral antibiotics won't even get its attention. So, IV antibiotics plus time.

As Salem bids farewell to John Black on Monday, the "Days" family and fans say a final goodbye to Drake Hogestyn.   From his time as a young man playing baseball in the minor leagues for the New York Yankees to his almost four-decade run as John Black, Drake always did his best. And, while becoming a soap opera icon, he spent almost 40 years at "Days" telling the best stories and taking the younger cast under his wing to make sure they would do their best as well. Thank you, Drake, for the legacy you have left for everyone at "Days." The impact you made on the cast, crew and fans will never be forgotten...and that's a fact.
    • I found an interview with Joseph Breen (Will Jeffries) where he mentions that Reva was put in a coma so Zimmer could go to Hollywood to do a pilot (OMG, if ONLY it had been picked up, LOL) and that Sonni and Josh and Will became a popular with the audience while she was out of commission.  If you want to read the whole thing: https://www.authorsden.com/visit/viewarticle.asp?id=47394 Breen was known for being very candid in interviews, I wish I could find more of them. I seem to recall he made a couple of snarky comments about Zimmer, implying she was not above acting like a diva. Sounded to me like he had a lot of respect for Forbes (who went on to have a very strong and varied career after GL).
    • I was so confused why Devon was prying into Nicks love life and then it clicked and I remembered they’re brother-in-laws. Shows how little I pay attention to this show anymore. I was like uh? Do these two even know each other this well?
    • The Bell soaps, B&B and Y&R: cannot watch. If I went by the last time I did I would have to give them both D- but I really don't think it counts when you're not a daily watcher.  DAYS: B+ (Now this is with the knowledge that for years I have given this show a D- because I've been a fan for too long to give it the F it deserved.) GH: A+ (With Korte driving this bus to me the show is so much better! IMO we just had the best NB in so many years I cannot count!) BTG: A solid (Things I love, a few I do not, nothing I hate, still find it in general remarkable.) As always, thanks for doing this thread. I count it. I always look for it & I always post.
    • Okay, I continue to maintain that what is so good about this particular reveal followed by umbrella storyline is that you can see & understand many different points of view where there is not one bad guy or one 100% right person.  About your stated opinion, that Lois & Gloria did the right thing, you know that this was technically an illegal adoption? For it to have been legal the father, if known, would have to have been informed & have signed off on terminating his own paternal rights. And, of course, it is clear how many people they lied to.  Personally I feel like Lois is going to take the biggest "public" blame with Lulu a close second in the blame category. I am looking forward to a tongue lashing I hope Brook Lynn gives to Gloria. I continue to be more than annoyed with Dante. First his attitude toward Gio with regards to Rocco & a drinking game & its results. Second his attitude toward Lulu. Meanwhile enjoying the show every day!
    • Lois and Gloria did the right thing I feel knowing it was Camila that raised Gio has BL feeling some jealousy No one is saying that Camila was a bad mother to Gio I believe it will be Gio saying that Camila was great to him, thanking Lois and Gloria to get BL to see truth
