Today was ok.

As long in the tooth as John and Steve are, I do like seeing them on a case. I’m looking forward to them finally busting Konstantin. And I’m glad they brought up security cameras in Salem. Now, if only someone who install cameras at the hospital and the police station

Alex and Theresa were the same as always. I love how they have Theresa say that she’s not a gold digger, but that’s clearly the way that Emily O’Brien is playing it. She really could use a little more direction in pretty much every episode she’s in.

As for Chad and Stephanie, they really do have good fights so it was too bad that today’s was cut short. We really should have seen more. That would’ve provided a better explanation as to why Chad immediately offered Everett his job back. I’m still on Chad’s side though a little, even though they really should have had him buy the paper not only to fire Everett, but for Thomas and Charlotte as well. At the same time, I also see Stephanie’s point. It’s a really interesting dynamic between the two of them. The unpredictability of it all makes it worth watching.

And speaking of unpredictability, just a fair warning, I read a possible spoiler for next week that some of y’all are not gonna like.

yes.  Jennifer was living in Laura's house there, settling the estate (while Missy and Cady were unavailable to film). Jack went to be with her.    It evolved that instead of J&J living in Salem and visiting Boston, it became J&J living in Boston and visiting Salem.

It started off that there was a small or midsized newspaper in the Boston region that they were helping a little, and then then it eventually became their fulltime commitment.

Well it seemed like it did from '93-'97 with Reilly's tone of writing. Plus there was once a mention during the early possession storyline of a "Nor'easter" heading their way, which wouldn't be a name used to describe an incoming snowstorm in the Illinois area...

Incidentally, I do recall in DAYS' first episode a scene with Marie and Tony, where it is mentioned that they could "drive down to Boston."

Funny how the location of some soap settings seem to change as the writers change (GL's Springfield was once referred to as the state capital, while previously being on the border of one of the Great Lakes. Oy..)

And, we've become aware that AW's Bay City was in no particular state, then in Michigan, then in Illinois.

Today's show I was really bored. No one is talking about today's show, so maybe I am not alone!!

Really, Thread Leader ABCEtc. did talk about the show! And, Steph is more interesting when she's angry. Maybe we'll finally get to see her with Stayla if she lives with them for a bit.

With the Emmys approaching am I the only one who thinks DAYS might win a few? I'm liking Billy Flynn, Cary Christopher & Stacy Haiduk. I think Y&R is going to be the big winner, though.

7.3/10

Nice writing for Chad today.  How unusual for a guy on DAYS to just be honest, admit that they're conflicted, and have a mature conversation.  I swear, the juxtaposition between episodes is nutty.  We go from bonkers baby talk between Dimitri and Leo to superb romantic drama with Tripp & Wendy as well as Chad & Stephanie.  My only gripe is that I wish Stephanie had a talk-to other than her mother.  I'm hoping for a Stephanie and Jada friendship.

There's still a lot of telling me that women are into Everett because he's so romantic, and not showing me.  He's not creative (ie he needed Stephanie to tell him to write the article about Leo), he's not charming, and he's not that cute.  So, I don't get the appeal.

Maggie's come a long way fashion-wise since marrying into wealth.  I mean, who've predicted Maggie from the Simmons Farm would be wearing a leopard-print coat to dinner?

Remind me how she cheated? Here are the 3 reels:

I heard Henry Joseph Simari picked the episodes where Douglas told Thomas that he knew he set up Brooke; Douglas tells steffy that Thomas made the recording, not brooke; Douglas plays the recording at Ridge and Taylor’s wedding.

Cary Christopher’s Emmy reel…  Christopher’s Emmy reel featured the scenes of Thomas fighting with Chad, and Thomas stating that he “just wants his mom back,” as well as Chad’s subsequent apology to Thomas, and then, they go get frozen. (?) Then, Thomas’ tooth falls out, and he is happy there (that shows a different side of his acting compared to the prior emotional scenes). It is followed by a more joyous side, where they are bonding again, and then, he sees Leo (Greg Rikaart), and the longer scene in the precinct.

Eden McCoy:

Her reel is about the sex tape.

1. Josslyn tells Carly about the revenge porn.

2. Josslyn on the witness stand at Trina’s trial.

3. Scenes of Josslyn and Esme fighting.

Not speaking for @AbcNbc247, but I think it has to do with the fact that Eden is legitimately in the age range, but barely, and competing against children.  While her acting peers like Nick Chavez are entering in the supporting category (although he obviously couldn't enter "younger").  It's not cheating really, but I do think she fits more in the supporting category than younger as well.

Anyway, today's show was boring.

Stephanie has this weird habit of referring to her cousins Gwen and Abby as my "Cousin Gwen or Abby" while talking to Chad.   While that's fine to people who might not know the connection-I am pretty sure Chad knows the familial relationship between everyone here lol.  I don't know if I am explaining it right but Stephanie tends to overexplain how she's related to people in conversations all the time.  I am not sure if it's her writing.  I just don't recall other characters doing that as much.

I am glad no one is actually paying John/Steve for this case.  I don't know if I would want my hired PI's doing a bunch of casework while they were drinking

Also, Poor Shane.  Everyone just asks him for favors now.  He probably can't even get his real job done.

Being Alex's housekeeper sounds like an easy job.  While I don't want to clean anyone's dirty sheets throwing them in the washer and not having to do anything else sounds like an easy money maker.

I just remember that when Victoria Grace had to drop out Eden made some sort of a fuss on UglyX about how she was entitled to be there. Speaking about being only with kids. It just screamed, Defensive much?

Hooray it wasn't just me!

Sticks out like the proverbial sore thumb!

So much entitlement  to getting the ISA to do stuff!

But, let's face it they are going to RUIN that sofa!

    • I’m hoping to start getting to know Vernon better this month. He’s really only been a bunch of noble and good tropes so far. I don’t want him to be taken down the way Ted has been, but it seems he was a long-running Senator and no matter what party you are, lasting longer than twenty years means you’re looking out for you (and not who you’re supposed to be looking out for) most of all. I want to get to know both Vernon and Anita beyond their Dupree posturing. Clifton Davis can sleepwalk handling the kind of material Christopher Bernau and David Lewis handled and I’d like to see more than just a saint.
    • I thought Emily/Hal was a really interesting pairing. And I think KMH played that version of Emily very well! It might not have been what people wanted from Emily, and the writing got pretty gross at the end, but I thought she embodied that character effectively.
    • Don't know if this exactly fits here, but it is connected: Does this abandoned building look familiar? It is one of those explorer videos - and the outside may look VERY familiar if one watched GH in the '70s and '80s!

    • So, I have been in the hospital all week. I am close to being up to date on my soaps. Now I have to go to the Infusion Ctr daily to get IV antibiotics, for 6 weeks. I am frankly exhausted. A hospital is no place to be when you're sick. Hooked up to machines that go beep beep beep all day & night long. Someone wakes you up every hour on the hour for something, either to stick you with needles or to take your gosh-awful blood pressure for the umpteenth time. So, you don't get any sleep. Now I have a central line, upper right chest. After they "installed" it, I said, I am now Borg. They just stared at me. Apparently scifi is not general knowledge. What happened? I have an infection inside my big toe right foot & it burned the skin on my foot. The burned skin is already better. It was like a bad sunburn. The infection inside the toe is the issue. Oral antibiotics won't even get its attention. So, IV antibiotics plus time.

As Salem bids farewell to John Black on Monday, the "Days" family and fans say a final goodbye to Drake Hogestyn.   From his time as a young man playing baseball in the minor leagues for the New York Yankees to his almost four-decade run as John Black, Drake always did his best. And, while becoming a soap opera icon, he spent almost 40 years at "Days" telling the best stories and taking the younger cast under his wing to make sure they would do their best as well. Thank you, Drake, for the legacy you have left for everyone at "Days." The impact you made on the cast, crew and fans will never be forgotten...and that's a fact.
    • I found an interview with Joseph Breen (Will Jeffries) where he mentions that Reva was put in a coma so Zimmer could go to Hollywood to do a pilot (OMG, if ONLY it had been picked up, LOL) and that Sonni and Josh and Will became a popular with the audience while she was out of commission.  If you want to read the whole thing: https://www.authorsden.com/visit/viewarticle.asp?id=47394 Breen was known for being very candid in interviews, I wish I could find more of them. I seem to recall he made a couple of snarky comments about Zimmer, implying she was not above acting like a diva. Sounded to me like he had a lot of respect for Forbes (who went on to have a very strong and varied career after GL).
    • I was so confused why Devon was prying into Nicks love life and then it clicked and I remembered they’re brother-in-laws. Shows how little I pay attention to this show anymore. I was like uh? Do these two even know each other this well?
    • The Bell soaps, B&B and Y&R: cannot watch. If I went by the last time I did I would have to give them both D- but I really don't think it counts when you're not a daily watcher.  DAYS: B+ (Now this is with the knowledge that for years I have given this show a D- because I've been a fan for too long to give it the F it deserved.) GH: A+ (With Korte driving this bus to me the show is so much better! IMO we just had the best NB in so many years I cannot count!) BTG: A solid (Things I love, a few I do not, nothing I hate, still find it in general remarkable.) As always, thanks for doing this thread. I count it. I always look for it & I always post.
    • Okay, I continue to maintain that what is so good about this particular reveal followed by umbrella storyline is that you can see & understand many different points of view where there is not one bad guy or one 100% right person.  About your stated opinion, that Lois & Gloria did the right thing, you know that this was technically an illegal adoption? For it to have been legal the father, if known, would have to have been informed & have signed off on terminating his own paternal rights. And, of course, it is clear how many people they lied to.  Personally I feel like Lois is going to take the biggest "public" blame with Lulu a close second in the blame category. I am looking forward to a tongue lashing I hope Brook Lynn gives to Gloria. I continue to be more than annoyed with Dante. First his attitude toward Gio with regards to Rocco & a drinking game & its results. Second his attitude toward Lulu. Meanwhile enjoying the show every day!
    • Lois and Gloria did the right thing I feel knowing it was Camila that raised Gio has BL feeling some jealousy No one is saying that Camila was a bad mother to Gio I believe it will be Gio saying that Camila was great to him, thanking Lois and Gloria to get BL to see truth
