If the intent with the story was to write off Maureen Garrett/Holly, either through her death or incarceration, then it would have been a powerful way to exit.  Unfortunately, I think the circumstances made Holly's redemption difficult, if not impossible, to achieve.

Granted, I never liked PASSIONS, but I could see how others would be drawn to its' inadvertently campy style, especially in its' earlier years, before JER got REALLY weird in his storytelling.

I watched some of the Dreaming Death during a recent dive back into all eras of GL. The similarities to Dark Shadows' Dream Curse were striking, and the episodes where the sleazy hospital administrator's new wife dreams her way into dying were truly disturbing and eerie. It was very un-GL, but I thought a lot of it was pretty well done.

The story was so gross, but that was one of GH's last all-time cliffhangers. They should not have done that with Rick Hearst if they intended to keep him around.

Losing Lesley Ann was probably the part of that story that I liked the least.  I thought the writing during the Kobe/Long/Ryder era was pretty strong, but in retrospect, it's sad knowing how so many beloved characters were written out.

I had to laugh - it's so true. The whole show was a fever dream of recycled DAYS storylines circa 1996.

Speaking of DAYS, I nominate the original Princess Gina storyline. It kept going and going with the beginnings with Lily Faversham and Hope, with Hope locked in the turret with Stefano, then Gina shooting at Shawn on the roof of her wedding.

I kept up with that storyline, not because I thought it was entertaining (I didn't), but because I kept wondering how long and how far DAYS could run with it before it all inevitably fell apart.

I will never forgive the GH team at the time for that story. The foundation of the show needed Emily, Georgie, and I would include Cooper and Logan here too. They should have been used in years of story. Instead there was a giant hole that they kept trying to fill for 20 something’s for a decade. It kept the focus squarely on Sonny/Cary/Jason, and then just supplanted Michael as the younger character to build off of. Plus Garin Wolf and JFP’s ending fell flat.

And I am aware that the actor playing Logan was a problem on set, and the original killer. Doesn’t change how I feel- they had a set of characters worth building on. Instead they just continued with the idea the show was going to be cancelled within 10 years so let’s just keep dismantling instead of building.

Yeah I get where u are coming from and I agree to all points made.

I just thought it was entertaining and promising but it was just when Spinelli found Georgie dead that I hated it.

I mean Metro Hostage Crisis was another banger story I LOVED even though I hated it that we lost Alan Quartermaine!

and another show I can’t take serious but still keep informed and watch it from time to time: The Bold and the beautiful! I stick to it Coz my mother and I watched it together since my childhood while she stopped, I kept watching. I regret it how many hours I wasted on that show with the damn same

dialogue ! It’s like Love Island.. If u watched one season then u have seen it all.. same with B&B.. They have such a great setting and perfect cast and they just keep repeating the same crap over and over

The ultimate QUEEN of this thread and I think the winner... is... The Bold And The Beautiful.

In 2010 someone very "smart" decided to write a story in which Brooke, the long standing slut from the valley, humps her daughters borderline teenage boyfriend on the terrace, in A PUBLIC masked prom party full of teens. That 50 year old woman was wearing a mask and MISTAKENLY thought that the man ALSO wearing a mask was HER HUSBAND. The lead up to this was that Brooke was feeling extremely horny dancing to Daddy Yankee's POSE and Gasolina in the steam room FOR DAYS.  Of course when the prom started, she couldn't control herself and just HAD TO DO IT in public.

She didn't feel anything different when a 30 years younger man was bonking her against a wall. 2 days later she realized that she had made that mistake, and what followed were 2 months of hysteria and over the top crying finishing with Stephanie DOUBLE slapping her. It was SO BAD and GOOD at the same time... sometimes when I have the flu and need something funny to pick me up I just start watching these episodes from the start. It really is Brad Bell at his most CRAZY.

In resume - Brooke mistakenly had sex with Oliver - her young virginal daughters first boyfriend.

It is a story straight from the trash 70s VHS porn tapes. Completely absurd. I cant understand why Bold didn't win BEST show that year. Who can compete with that.

    • Is there anything in print or fan lore or info about Don Stewart & temperament or behavior? Of course my brain could be playing tricks on me.
    • “On ERICA versus RACHEL, Erica was a very unique character. ... Rachel was a lower-class Erica, her mother was a cleaning woman, and her goals were not nearly stratospheric as Erica’s. Rachel just wanted to marry Russ or somebody with money. What Erica and Rachel have in common is they thought if they could get their dream, they’d be satisfied. But that dream has been very elusive.”– Agnes Nixon, Creator, ONE LIFE TO LIVE, ALL MY CHILDREN, and LOVING So my takeaway from this, plus knowing the characters, is that both Rachel & Erica schemed for acquisition. They wanted to acquire romance, husbands, prosperity, a kind of low-level fame or notoriety.  Am I correct in thinking that Carla schemed for safety, camouflage, to keep from getting caught & so for survival? Or did she also scheme for things similar to above?

    • Paula and Jeanne’s first time writing Alex and Stephanie. It didn’t seem like there were any changes in Alex at all lol but I can’t help  but think that that’s more on RSW than the writing. I didn’t see a big change with Stephanie either, but I did enjoy her scenes with Kayla, whose character has gotten so much stronger since last week. I hope we get to see a lot more of their relationship, and their relationship with Steve as well. As for Steve and Shawn stealing the drug to try to save Bo, idk. I don’t dislike it, but I just don’t know lol but I also think that it is time for Steve to pass the torch on to the next hero.  And finally, Javi showed some kind of spark! I was a little worried in his first scene today that he was going to continue to be so obsessed with Leo, but him demanding that Leo drop the investigation into Rafe and Gabi could actually be pretty interesting. I don’t think that would’ve happened under Ron. And if we’re forced to endure Javi/Leo, let them at least have some kind of actual conflict, instead of the forced, biased crap that we were subjected to. And speaking of Leo, one year ago today, he got Dimitri’s letter

Btw, why is Gabi so beholden to Javi? Cousin or not, if I was her, the minute he said to her, “If he goes, I go”, I would’ve been like  Also, are they going to go there with Philip and Gabi? I’d prefer that than Gabi getting involved with Alex.
    • She does look good in blue. I wish they'd do more with her hair, change it up the way JMW does now and then
