The way this show operates, I wouldn't have known it was the wrong episode. Yes, you'd expect the Monday show to follow up on Friday's close of Chloe seeing Philip at the door, but we often have to wait a few days or a week for a cliffhanger followup. Things seemed to be introduced rather abruptly, but that's nothing new either!

I didn't have lunch early enough to watch the spoiled episode, so it was just a normal Monday on my laptop.

Does the costume department not know that they're filming six months in advance?  Why are all the men wearing leather jackets in August?

Also, is there anything soap-ier than Belle and Brady taking time out of discussing their immediate concerns in order to have a little exposition dump about Phillip?  I also enjoy that in the DOOL universe, nobody ever talks off-screen or texts, they only have face-to-face conversations if they happen to run into each other in the center of town.

I guess since Kate was kidnapped by Dimitri she can help with gutting the fish at the Pub.  However, she was once a marketing success at Countess Wilhelmina.  Can't she write a PR plan for Roman's chowder?  Has love cost Kate all sense of purpose and avarice?

Finally, how is Shawn supposed to get sober when most of the businesses in Salem are bars?

So, today is the beginning of Season 59, first episode of, and that means that a year from today we will enter Season 60, big anniversary time. 8-28-24! I find that exciting!

I found today to be a surprisingly good episode. Lots of people talking to each other. People I want to see. Not a bunch of people I do not want to see. And, what was discussed was certainly important. This is a new Philip to me. So far, okay. Anyone else?

I was just pondering that this would be the perfect time for Mia to return (perhaps as a recast).  I know the character was not that popular, but think about her connection to recent events.

Maggie needs her support now that Victor is dead.  Nicole is pregnant, which was a vital part of Mia's origin story. Chad is single, so she could be a hindrance in his relationship with Stephanie.  Plus, nobody has been to the Horton House where she lived for months, so she could visit there.  Extra credit if Mia became an OB-Gyn in her time away, since half of Salem is expecting and Kayla feels a little overwhelmed.

I'm just saying, given that Victor's death has motivated the return of many characters from her generation, it is remarkable how many ties to the canvas Mia has maintained.

    •   Thank you! Agreed on both posts. And the comments about Mike Manning are nonsense.
    • I haven't watched yet, but did they explain the current ownership of The Bistro?  Because when RonC was writing, wasn't he applying for work with Sophia?
    • I think Brandon has gotten better in normal day to day scenes, but he’s very over the top when the character is meant to be angry or agitated. I did laugh when she started yelling at Leslie and then when he started to throw all those damn books, lol. He needs an acting coach to work out some of these kinks.
    • I've never found him as bad as some. I think he's always shined in scenes with Vernon, who should be his father. I also think he has great chemistry with Kat and Dani which I hope they tap into more over time. Dani/Martin feel like such a fun and believable Auntie/Nephew relationship.
    • I'm fighting for my life on another board for my husband Brandon and I'll do it here too lmao
    • I don't expect Lois to be the same person she was 25 years ago, but she's definitely lost a lot of what made Lois unique.  It's clear the show doesn't know how to write for her, and the sole purpose of Lois is to hide this Gio secret.  It's a shame she doesn't interact with more of the canvas.  It's a waste of Rena's talents. I like Brook Kerr most of the time.  She can be hit or miss.  I totally get what you are saying about her line readings too.  I honestly think the character really suffers being stuck in the Curtis pairing.  She's much better than Tanisha Harper's Jordan lol.
    • Friday and yesterday's episode is what daytime television should be. The other shows airing could take a page from yesterday's show.  I loved the rage, hurt and anger Nicole unleashed on Ted.  Daphnee should be up for an Emmy nom for these scenes.  It broke my heart to see how Dana had locked Eva out.  I do feel sorry for Eva.    I am still bumfuzzled as to why Leslie/Dana went to the DuPree's and asked them to accept Kat UNLESS Eva is really Kat's twin (and really Nicole and Ted's daughter that maybe they though they lost or an embryo Dana/Leslie stole??) I loved how Anita and Vernon both shot her down.    Ohhh and let me just say Friday and yesterday was the MOST fire I have seen Martin have since the show started.  Maybe Brandon Clayborn is coming into his own with the role finally.
    • You've been seeing him all along. You just didn't know it was him, I guess.
