Best Days promo ever!! Promote the legend DVD and don't show any of their crappy stories.😂

The voice-over and music are enticing, but I'm not looking forward to what is being promoted as a tangential story portraying dementia as amusing and heartwarming.

Teenage mentality Carlivati at his usual worst.  The best thing about the WGA strike is that Ron is unable to further damage Days (at least temporarily).

Hmmm...I'm kind of curious to see how this plays out.

It would have been interesting if they used him for a short arc as Tommy Horton, Alice and Tom's oldest who is supposedly still alive, to introduce some new Hortons in the mix. I know I'm dreaming though!

Peacock uploaded next Monday's show today and Dick Van Dyke has scenes with Susan & Bill Hayes. Tommy Horton is mentioned and Julie says he passed away.

It's not dementia.  I saw the Sept 4 episode that Peacock accidentally posted on their site just before they removed it.  It's memory loss due to head injuries.  They say his cognitive function is fine.

DVD debuts Friday Sept 1st.

On August 28, Peacock accidentally uploaded Monday September 4 and then took it down a couple hours later.

This happens on Mon. September 4th -- continuing what happens in the promo about this character:

Spoiler

Monday September 4th:
Dick Van Dyke's mystery character is joyful and witty, just temporarily amnesiac.  Marlena meets with him and offers to help him discover his identity and he agrees. (fyi: He mentions that he had a son whom he never knew, and he has been searching for that son, so he remembers that much, but not who or where.)  Marlena then meets with John and Steve at the pub and asks them to investigate.

Doug and Julie encounter Dick Van Dyke's mystery character in the hospital waiting area. He's sitting there waiting to be taking for a brain scan.
Doug had stubbed his toe, and Julie brought Doug into the hospital to have his toe X-rayed, and she said the hospital insisted that Doug be in the wheelchair while on the premises.
They have a *lovely* conversation.
****Then, Julie and DVD's character *sing and dance* to Tea for Two.
Julie and DVD's character do a soft-shoe dance around Doug, while Doug dances with his hands.
DVD's character suddenly remembers that he had/has a wife whom he loved/loves but doesn't remember her name.

As mentioned abovethread, Julie talks about Tommy Horton's amnesia and that he was in the Korean War.  DVD says there's something familiar about that, could I be your Uncle Tommy? and she says no because Tommy is dead.

Meanwhile Steve and John discuss the case. They wonder if maybe DVD's injuries were due to war injuries and John calls veteran hospitals to see if anyone is missing.  One hospital confirms it and John and Steve visit. The director tells them he cannot divulge the medical file but he can divulge the veteran information.  DVD's character is named "Joseph Bell" and was in the Korean War but they don't know much else.  He has bounced around the veteran hospitals for a long time but the amnesia makes it difficult.  Then the director gives John the veteran file. Inside it are dog tags and documents.
John looks and recognizes that Joseph Bell was in the *SAME* unit in the Korean War as John's biological father Tim Robicheaux (a.k.a. Yo Ling).
!!!!

Other stuff happens in the Sept. 4th episode with other characters (Harris/Marlena/Ava/Susan/EJ/Xander in one storyline, and Brady/Theresa/Xander in another storyline) but I don't care.

These three dancing and SINGING to Tea for Two.

^^ SHouldn't that be put in a spoiler, since it's a week out from the episode returning to Peacock?

This thread is for the promo for the week of August 28th.
But everything in this promo with Kayla, Marlena and DVD's character happens Friday Sept. 1st about DVD's character.

What I've described happens the very next episode Monday Sept 4th, also about DVD's character.

But you have a valid point. Just in case people want to be spoiled in increments and not all at once, I'll put my description behind a spoiler tag.

Do we need to put spoilers tags in the spoiler forum?  I'm not being facetious, it's a valid question so I know :)

Oh s**t. I thought we were in the DAYS Discussion Thread. Uh-oh. Sorry folks! Haha. My mind is clearly not functioning, because everyone was asking in the DAYS thread what happened in the episode drop, haah. 🤣 My apologies to @janea4old as well, haha.

Yes! so in *that* thread (DAYS August discussion) I suggested reading *this* spoiler thread for the reveal.  I almost replied behind a spoiler tag in that thread, but there was so much to say, I decided to post it here instead.

ETA no apology necessary, it's Monday morning!

I'm sure you understand my point that treating the complexities of aging as a heart-warming saga, whether due to trauma or dementia, lacks sensitivity.  Telling a story that focuses on how strangers are necessary to assist this sweet old man against the backdrop of a health care system that is chronically inadequate for elderly patients feels patronizing to me.
