Yeah, it is WAY effing wild! I'm sure it is part of the reason that Genie would speak up & say that she's sick of talking about it.

But you make a good point that they do keep these twisty-turny plot events sorted out. I do not know how sometimes but ya gotta love em for it.

Loved all of this about the wedding! The Costume Designer said he took a chance with the dress for Brooke & boy was it ever a success! He said the dress is a bias cut slip dress designed to show off curves. That it did!

The Nikolas reveal and its timeline were meticulously plotted out. The scenes where Laura tells Luke all about exactly where, how and when she learned her mother was 'dead' in the '80s and that it had been attributed to the Cassadines to silence her re: her other son were intricately done.

They may have mentioned that more recently, I wouldn't know. My best recollection of Taggert's (offscreen) exit in the 2000s was Scott or someone saying he'd been reassigned to Alaska or something after being the squeaky wheel against Sonny and Jason (and maybe sticking it to Scott's corruption) once too often.

One way to avoid these dense offscreen backstories for every new charachter is to stop trying to tie them to the existing canvas.

Sometimes making them related to someone works. Best example: Carly. However her backstory was relatively simple: Bobbie is my mother who gave me up for adoption, I'm hiding my identity by using my best friend's name. Everything else that made today's charachter played out onscreen.

I don't mind tying Trina to Taggert especially because GH lacks a black family let alone any family of color. In other cases like Franco, it becomes confusing.

I know this is a soap but GH has had way too many paternity/maternity reveals and switches going on in the Frank era. We have Esme and Willow's parental histories playing out simultaneously. Sometimes the confusion further compounds when writers RETCON what happened offscreen.

    • OH, I AM.   And it looks like it's a pretty good episode so I might watch later on this weekend after work cuz I see a lot of scenes with people I actually like. Very happy to see Rocco/Danny appear to be getting story, too.
    • I do agree that a revival of EON would work, if it doesn't fall into doing all of the typical soap opera tropes... which it became guilty of in the final few years of the show with the over abundance of Raven/Sky at the expense of the actual detectives, police, etc. And I know it was mentioned earlier that Raven had lost any true connections on the show with the death of her on screen mother, and the loss of April/Draper/Deborah.. and I do agree with that. I actually thought the show would have done something with the Shelley character that could have connected her to the Raven character.  There were a few scenes where the two would have scenes and size one another up before they would go their separate ways.. so I assumed perhaps they would have been revealed as half-siblings and/or perhaps cousins.  Alas.. not to be.
    • It definitely flowed beautifully. So much that I was annoyed when Vanessa/Doug because I wanted to get back to the party. I know it was intentional to build up tension and suspense. It worked. lol. I'm glad it was there in hingsight because it gave us that great conversation between Doug and Vanessa. Foreshadowing? And yesss!!! This episode was sooo old school soap giving beat after beat after beat leading up to the unveiling of Eva as Ted's daughter. And we still have plenty of fallout/aftereffects to work through.   Speaking of...Bill, Bill, Bill lol. Good to have confirmation HE was the scary lawyer.   I'm sure I will have a busy Monday, but I can't wait for it. I don't know what I'm looking forward to more. Probably Anita vs Silk Press Sheila tbh. And yes, I feel they will be matching each other 'blow for blow.'
    • And if they go there, it could also be tied to Johnny completely cutting him off, possibly going to work for Titan, etc.
    • @AbcNbc247 maybe it is just that they've gone to that well too often, and I don't like when DAYS goes dark, but I'm OK with EJ abusing drugs, and just skipping the whole sobriety part. Side note: experiencing hallucinations of my son killing me would be enough for me to never want to take a pill again.

    • Part of the reason that Courtney worked at OLTL was because the show had an actual character for her to play.  One that was somewhat different than her character on AW, and after the way she was treated over at AW.. it had to have been nice to be courted onto a new soap that actually valued your contributions.
    • I figured the "long" was already implied
    • You'll be very impressed
