As we continue to figure out the B&B "twist", I came across this spoiler for the week of April 4th: "Deacon receives the shock of his life."

Maybe Sheila goes Lorena Bobbitt

This twist stuff is so irritating to me. Casey said that this is a bigger shock than Maya being trans and it’s something that hasn’t been done before. How is a character death that shocking?

Definitely hype. And the Maya story was a gimmick without a purpose. Worse, B&B not only finally figured out what to do with Maya after languishing in the background, but also managed to a lead female POC. It was all undone in a matter of weeks with no real fallout except boxing in Rick/Maya permanently. The Ridge/C2/Rick/Maya scenes were fantastic - they should've focused on expanding that story.

At least the 'never been done before' eliminates cloning, aliens, time jumps (past/present), body switching, afterlife, etc. Unless Sheila carried Ridge/Taylor's biological child (Finn) - something no one would want to watch - there's not much left that's novel on daytime that could even be plausible on B&B. Even the Steffy has really been Phoebe - so what? There's no long-term storyline in having JMW play dual roles.

B&B is not DAYS or, even GH. Sensationalism simply doesn't fit the established structure of the show. B&B is doing quite well - no clue why they feel they need a stunt.

So Steffy and Finn would be brother and sister and have a kid together? I think even that would go too far for most of the audience.

Finn being Deacon's kid? Not sure, but what if Hope turns out not to be Deacon's? If Bridget is coming back, it could be for this story. Brooke has been raked over the coals for sleeping with her daughter's husband and having his child. What if Hope isn't his, after all?

If Hope turns out to be Ridge's kid, then that makes her and Thomas half-siblings. Weren't they a couple?

Hollyoaks did a child between siblings, right? Granted, it’s in the UK, but I remember a younger female character feeling deep shame upon learning her parents were brother and sister.

    • Dear sweet June, you'll get it right eventually.  In the meantime it's a good chuckle.

    • Damn, Leslie went in on Shanice... poor girl! Leslie really can't handle stress or certain emotions well, she lashes out. I also think it's weird she wants to know so many details about Eva's love/sex life. Vernon was sweet to June. It was nice (realistic) to see a customer complain to her though while she's still trying to establish herself. I'll be that guy, but for me personally, my enthusiam/excitement over the show has stalled yet again over the last couple weeks. For the majority, it seems like we're in a holding pattern until Winterfest. It's like they don't want to rock the boat or do much until then, which leaves us in a quiet period here. Are sweeps a thing still these days? Seems odd that we're having a slow November. That ending was good, but I saw that coming... in theory it should have a quick resolution, but I'm guessing Leslie will expose it at Winterfest and it'll get throw out of proportion haha.
    • Yes. Why? I don't really care. Vanessa is also acting dumb, trying to run between tables, on a date with Ross in one room and a business meeting with Alan in another.  One of the few times Van is written as less than the smart woman she was.
    • I've been specifically looking for the episodes for Ross and Van together, because they essentially both raise Dinah at that period and the recaps around her typically avoid the Dorie years, the carnies, or Alan-Michael and Cam. I'm really just trying to trace a throughline between Paige, Wendy, and Gina. The last two are "easy," but it just messes with my timeline when Dinah thinks Alan-Michael would kill Ross. Then again, that Alan-Michael slept with his own stepdaughter, so...
    • Anyway...they literally mentioned the secret room today on Days and yes, this show needs a Kristen lesbian story lol.
    • Yes, they did a 'premiere' of Maggie's death episodes at the ArcLight theatre in Los Angeles, arguably then the nicest movie theatre chain in the USA. Plus, Suzanne and Deidre were in a ton of scenes together during this time. Whatever happened between them happened after 2004.
    • There are episodes with Jenny (Mary Ellen Stuart) that she was in pre-writers strike.. and I know that she lasts until at least August 1988. It's a shame that the show didn't try pairing her with Rusty since the two had more chemistry than she had with Ross and that he had with Rose.
    • Was that when she put on the"Slut of Springfield" red dress and made a complete ass of herself at the CC, so of course Alan fell madly in love with her on the spot?
    • Oohh...now I'm not sure. Long did come back in '87, didn't she. She broke up Ross and Vanessa almost from her first minute back. Van and Ross are at the Country Club when Josh dumps Reva. And Reva dramatically drapes herself on the CC stairs.
    • Glad you enjoyed watching. Yes, Michael seems like fun. I am always interested in more of these niche talk show appearances.
