It really burns me when the show uses Misty Circle to insult Nicole. She was a minor forced into porn by her abusive father. There are a million other things characters can to say to bash Nicole. Stop with the "Nicole is a slut who did porn!" narrative already.

That bothered me even then.

They established Nicole did porn and kept it a secret but then they showed those "flashbacks" and it was basically rape. Child rape. Not the same at all.

Leave it to Langan (and Sami) to conflate the two.

I’ve been catching up on possession 2.0 and I think if they had done a riff of Stephen King’s Needful Things this time it would have worked better for me.

The devil comes to this quaint little town, wrecks havoc, and gives people what they want but not in the way they want it.

That's what I was hoping for when I heard they were doing the possession again. A manifestation of the worst in people, something a little more insidious. Maybe not Marlena this time. Or not Marlena the whole time.

The way it's been written and played, MarDevil is basically Hattie in need of a Snickers.

Ron took a plot that could've written itself and turned it into an episode of MADtv.

This is the most accurate statement to describe Ron's take on the possession.

And a cough drop. I can't even watch it.

It's some of the most embarrassing stuff the show has ever done. Even my 13 year old niece hates it and she loves edits of the original story.

The worst part is Deidre's oblivious. The cartoon eyes and the devil costume. She really thinks she's serving and it's just... bad.

I'll be glad when it's over because I like the show overall. This is borderline unwatchable though.

I would hope that Marlena comes out of this situation truly reassessing her life.  (After all, it's not everyone who gets possessed by the devil not once but twice!). But, I know I would be just wasting my time.

I haven’t been able to watch this show in weeks. It is unwatchable to me. Everything just feels meaningless/inconsequential on RC’s show.

I hope when this is done and over with, absolutely no one goes to Marlena for medical help. She shouldn't be trusted. Devil possession, treating her family members and the man who murdered her grandson at one point. HUGE ethics issue.

Like I said before, maybe in another thread, if this doesn't end with Marlena joining the convent, then this rehash is pointless.

He doesn't follow the rules of his own made up reality.

When it's convenient, the devil can do anything he wants and has imitless power. When it's not, he can't finish off Susan Banks.

We spent a week with ED's Kristen dry humping John like Ron does to married daddies in his wet dreams, only for MarDevil to shrug and say "meh, I never thought it'd work anyway" when previously it was everything the devil cared about.

There are no confines or consistency. When you constantly break your own rules, nothing matters. The stories become inconsequential like you said. That's a problem for Days but RC's Days specifically.

I think Ron is an inspired writer. He has creative energy. He's imaginative, pulls from history, has fondness for characters I like. He seems to appreciate 90's JER. I think he's a good fit for the show and has good instincts overall. But somebody needs to up his Zoloft and hire a co-HW who's not so self indulgent.

Lucas was absolutely giddy at finding out about EJ and Nicole.

Sami and Nicole can feud until the end of time and I’d be fine with it.

Rafe and Ava will literally never leave that damn kitchen.

The OGPossession was the right story at the right moment in time.  I have never been a fan, but it worked on the show for JER with it's Gothic feel and love story thread throughout.

This is just camp for camp's sake.  It's entertaining in a way, but it makes no sense.  The whole Kristen seduction was ridiculous.  Why would that break John/Marlena's love?  What's was the actual point beyond having ED and the DH's share scenes?  Nothing.

I think you have hit the nail on the head.  Ron has some good ideas and uses history and fan fave characters-it just gets very messy and certain stories are awful and the entertaining ones don't use a ton of logic.  Anyhow, I think this is still a step forward for Days with the spinoffs and movies.  I definitely don't think it's ready to be put out of it's misery in the way I have felt in years past.

Can anyone tell me why Victor and Kate hate Chloe so much? Does it stem from the high school days when she chose Brady?

Gotta tell ya, I never thought Ben and Ciara’s first fight would be over Marlena 🤣😂

Victor always thought Chloe wasn’t good enough for Philip, and I think Kate did too

I think Chloe also falsely accused Philip of rape once too, and that was another reason for Victor. And he also blames her for Brady being an addict.

Philip and Chloe had been built up pretty well by that point, and then on the night in question, Chloe was shocked to see Victor alive, so shocked that when Nancy asked her what happened, she never spoke up when her mother ended up assuming Philip had raped her. Killed the couple there and then.
