I am not really even much of a Sami fan, but her and Lucas continue to be a bright spot on the show.  I am really enjoying AS's run right now.  She is so much better away from EJ.

I like Chanel and Allie too.  The kiss was random and I don't really buy Allie as a huge partier, but I like it when people have actual friendships on the show.

Chloe is a total idiot, but I still like her.

The Kristen/Susan stuff is super obnoxious.  I hope it ends soon.

Sami and Lucas away from EJ has been SO good for both characters. Ali and Bryan just have amazing chemistry and comedic timing together.

Sami and Lucas are just plain fun. I actually laughed out loud when Lucas told Chloe he was going to Antarctica.

I wasn't expecting Brady to find out about Kristen/Susan. Thank god. Let's end this mess.

I was hoping we'd find out that Allie and Chanel fooled around in London or something but oh well. Hopefully they'll explore Allie and Chanel eventually. That seems more interesting than Allie/Tripp.

I’m not interested in the Allie and Chanel stuff if they’re going the “no labels” route. Tired of soaps pretend they’re progressive while they can’t say the word gay.

Labels are important. If Allie and Chanel are into each other, they’re either bi or gay. Period.

I was never much of an EJ/Sami fan.  I always preferred Lumi.  I don't think they have the hottest chemistry, but they play off each other so well.  You know they are meant to be.

Allie said her brother was gay and it was fine.  To me, Chanel is bi even if she doesn't want to say it.  The 'no labels' thing doesn't bother me much.  It opens Chanel up to a lot of possibilities even though I doubt the show will go there.  It's clear it was all for shock value, but I didn't hate it.  Again, I have trouble buying Allie as a crazy party girl.  She seems so boring.

Agreed.

They always did bring out the best in each other. Even in scenes when they weren't a couple, you could tell that there was a connection between both the characters and the actors.

Lucas definitely brings out a comedic side to Sami and she works best as a schemer or as comic relief.  She never has worked for me as the tortured heroine.  She's not her mother or her sisters.   I hated the years she was the lead and all the EJ stuff and the baby storylines.  AS/BD really excel at humor and work with each other so easily.  I guess they have been doing it for 25 plus years, but their connection really shows.  It's really obvious when BD does scenes with Sami and Chloe.  He and Nadia have no chemistry.  Why were they ever paired up lol?  Lucas has had some weird pairings-Adrienne, Chloe, Nicole?  Random....

Bryan must be thanking his lucky stars that the decision was made to not only bring Lucas back but give him more airtime.

Remember a few years back when he was told that was pretty much it for Lucas?

I actually liked that time period. They finally made Sami grow up for the most part. It was nice to see the character change and become full circle over time.

As for Chloe/Lucas, I think they were paired because they were the only two unattached people at that time. Everybody was so invested in Sami/EJ and I'm sure they also really wanted to break Chloe out of that Brady/Philip loop. I never saw them as an endgame pairing though.

Ugh!  I hated all that Sami/Rafe/EJ baby switch stuff.  I felt like Ali/Sami was crying everyday.  I never bought Sami as a true heroine and the show gave her so many kids so quickly.  Idk, it just never felt like the right fit for Sami as a character.  I know a lot of people liked that era though.

Lucas and Chloe were always random for me.  But then again, every time a writing regime changes so does Chloe.  Sometimes she nice, sometimes she's a schemer, sometimes she's a vixen etc.  I don't think anyone has ever had a clear idea what to do with Nadia/Chloe since appox. 2002.  Chloe seems like a generation too young for Lucas, but Adrienne was a generation too old.

So it's starting to look the Allie/Chanel kiss was all for nothing. Just like the Theo/Claire kiss that Charlie walked in on. And now the Xander/Chanel marriage appears to be ending too. If things are going to be rushed through so quickly, what exactly is the point for them?

I think that's more that they had no idea what to do with Lucas, rather than Chloe or Adrienne

The Charlie story was for nothing too ultimately. (Allie and Tripp should absolutely have struggled more with her initially accusing him of rape.) The plotting is so poor.

Agreed.

They could stretch some stuff out for a little more, especially the Xander/Chanel marriage. I feel like the way that they rushed into it, and to then have Chanel scam Paulina so quickly messed up her character a little. They could've spent a little more time building sympathy for her

    • How did you guess that! Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees. Anita was serving "solo artist" realness the whole time. Stole the show.

    • Bye bye Dalton. Unfortunately this is going to fall on Sonny though, when for once he didn’t kill anyone.

"Grief, mental illness... and a handjob." Let's get done with the hardcore drama first... before we continue with the lighter stuff. Bo's condition worsened after the hot psychiatrist gave the risky idea to SHOW him Sarah's body. Dr. Jonas is triggering these people into catastrophes every day. It's almost like he gets pleasure out of this. Well... they did show him Sarah and the result was BAD. Bo went into a crazy meltdown, locked himself with the corpse... and started putting blankets on her to warm her up. Disturbing scene... yet powerful work from Robert S. Woods. Bo's resolve came at the end of December 7th's episode when he let Viki come inside and talk to him. I've chosen this as the clip of the day - anyone who ever underestimates or puts down soap actors, just because they are working in a soap... should see this. And then we'll talk. Very powerful.  Viki did what she does best - performed a miracle almost, getting Bo to open up and let the family in. And after that... everyone was looking at her like she is God. The children... Clint himself... everyone standing by the door expecting "savior Viki" to continue being the mother figure they desperately need. But Viki is also a woman. Woman, whose heart is no longer in that house with Clint... She wants to be with Sloan so bad... she has started looking at her husband in a different, colder way. He even came to her bedroom in his robe, probably expecting Viki to invite him in... but he got a chilly response.  Alongside Bo's terrifying breakdown... there were some grim events unfolding at Asa's house as well. Dorian and Blair's fighting made Addie become aggressive towards Asa of all people. She attempted to stab him with a pair of scissors. Asa then finally said "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!". It's either the baby or your sick mother. She must make a choice. What he doesn't realize... is that there is no baby. When he decided to contact Blair's doctor to inquire about her pregnancy... she knew she had to act FAST - likely fake a miscarriage. Jesus Christ, Blair!  This leads me to the storyline that consistently disappoints and undermines the overall mood of the show. Just picture having these intense storylines - involving... family, breakups, betrayal, grief, mental illness, and manipulation... and then suddenly, you see Alex giving Mortimer a handjob in the Buchanan Palace restaurant amidst all these other powerful scenes. Some might argue that this is precisely why such moments are there - to dilute the drama and darkness... but the result is far from enjoyable. It turns the entire show into a circus. You can't expect me to be emotional in one scene and then witness Alex reaching into Mortimer's pants... without cringing. It's a bit too abrupt... too early. It ruins everything and makes me despise... despise the characters involved. It's pathetic.    Overall -  6.5/10 - it would be a perfect 10 if you removed Alex and Mortimer. But I can't do that and I've decided it's enough giving them (the writers) slack about this. It's annoying, not funny and needs to end. If this was Bold... I would have been tearing them to pieces... but just because they've given me so much good material... I've forgiven idiocy time and time again. I have nothing against handjobs (quite the contrary actually), but I can't see them in the midst of a man crying over a corpse and a mentally ill woman attacking someone with scissors.    Clip of the day Viki consoles grieving Bo.

    • And every show she leaves is so unstable it takes years to recover, if it recovers at all. Objectively I can say she has a good eye for the look of the shows she is producing, and she knows how to film drama and strive for good acting. I don’t really fault her casting when it comes to new talent, her FOJ’s sometimes fit and sometimes don't though. She also interferes with writers to the detriment of her shows, favors problematic men’s egos on set and gives way less respect to women performers. Her work is often thematically very dark, and misogynistic. Something happened to her a year or so into Guiding Light. The show starts to come unraveled, she basically forced out the writing team that had been bringing the show success. She starts manipulating things like focus groups to get what she wants, and starts building the shows around the men (Buzz as example) and weak women (Lucy). She took over OLTL and tried to fully direct the writing while producing the show. On GH her instincts were so disastrous that they forced Guza/Pratt on her and gave them Associate Producer titles for more money and some agency in the story. And even then, it took until the Brenda return to fully save her ass. And on top of that she is majorly responsible for the show losing Sarah Brown, Amber Tamblyn, Genie Francis, and not securing Vanessa for a longer stay. And now that we know Guza didn’t want to kill Alan off, her fingerprints are all over that one IMO. The only thing I respect about her outside some casting that Mark Teschner brought to her is that she recognized Erika Slezak was too important at OLTL and still too vital to put out to pasture as only the mother of Joey, Jessica, and Kevin, and hand wringing sister of Todd. Emmy’s aren’t everything. Y&R had been number one for decades and truthfully should have been dethroned multiple times but habit and name recogniztion count for something.
    • Meg Bennett wrote for Y&R while appearing as Julia.
    • Everytime Liam appears on Screen I’m like: oh wait.. hey. It’s Liam. He’s still there?“ Like i don‘t know what it is but I always forget that he’s still around lol
    • Heather is a director AND writer at B&B, both in an irregular capacity.   Lawrence St. Victor is part of B&B's writing team for several years now.
